RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Moving on I'm actually looking forward to the finale of RWBY Chibi this year despite how the finale was the worst episode last season. The reason I'm hopeful this year is that it looks like they're actually building up towards a finale.

With the recent Boy Band episode it seems that the band stuff wasn't just a oneoff gag but is actually something they're building up over the course of the season. I'm interested in seeing what other kinds of bands we might get and I'm especially exited at the possibility that they might kick of the season with a bang by having the bands perform a new Jeff Williams song.

So, since the main thread over on SB still hasn't opened, does anyone know why it was closed?

Looks like they didn't shut down a creepy discussion about bust sizes when they had the chance.
Its annoying as fuck. A few dumbasses were being stupid so everyone gets collectively punished despite Reporting them. Why is it so hard to just hand out infractions/bans/threadbans/whatever to the people who were actually responsible? Shutting down the thread for more than a week just encourages people to not Report stuff when they see it happening since its better to hope the Mods don't notice it than to draw their attention to it.

And that is exactly fucking why the mods lock the thread. Because they don't know how far back this issue goes, or if there's other shit that didn't get reported.

What? The mods need to lock the thread so that they can solve a problem caused by locking the thread? The argument was not some recurring thing that kept happening, it was two specific sibling posters starting a creepy discussion after a promotional picture was posted and they got reported and threadlocked after about one page of discussion.

If the mods want to prevent that sort of thing from happening it makes more sense to make an example of them by threadbanning them or handing out hefty infractions to everyone involved in the discussion. Anyone dumb enough to make those sorts of comments will keep them to themselves after seeing the fate of creepers and everyone else are happy that justice is served. Boom, done. Problem solved.

Instead they're either making a lot of extra work for themselves or they're being spiteful assholes keeping the thread locked while pretending to work. Either way the vast majority of the thread users had nothing to do with the incident and now everyone is forced to have off-topic discussions in other threads because they're not able to use the thread specifically made for those discussions. If calling the cops results in them immediately carpet bombing your neighbourhood without warning then one becomes more wary of calling the cops the next time one sees someone holding up a 7/11.

If the lock had just been for a day or two then it wouldn't be much of an issue but at this point it's starting to get ridiculous.

[Video] RWBY Volume 5 clip and other news
A few things from the RTX panel. From some Reddit users:
Here's a clip that was shown accidentally on the stream about the trailers only a few seconds though.
And a picture:

Short, questions weren't very good, stream was shit, voice actors didn't talk or participate much, answers were a bit lackluster, stream cut away before we could get the juicy content, Barb kind of pissed me off with the "it's a cartooon" answer, it was kind of awkward and cringy (some parts were really cringy).

The V5 tease (what little we saw of it) was awesome, and the annoucements for the trailers and release of V5 warmed up the Hype thrusters, and I'm excited for Gen:Lock.

Overall, not the best panel. Still hyped as fuck for V5 though.

And some new lore:

Ruby's "Dream" was PTSD influence by Jaune's training with the Pyrrha video

Jaune's Upgraded armor was made with Pyrrha's Spare armor. The multiples of the same outfit closets from chibi are canon
How Jaune got Pyrrha's metal? The actual answer from Kerry: Qrow brought it with him.
Kerry also mentioned that his headcanon is Qrow picked up some of the remains when he rescued Ruby from the top of the tower. But he and Miles agreed that it's probably never going to get answered in the show

(Take most things with a grain of salt since these were answered do to the "Already happened" loophole for not asking spoiler questions)

They also announced Gen:Lock

Another animated series.
I'm just trying to fathom how they will manage Gen:Lock AND RWBY. It looked very 'dishwasher' like.

They also seem to be making a RWBY fighting game and are going to announce it at EVO.

When someone makes a transcripts of the Q & A I'll post it here.
