RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

They also sort of confirmed a RWBY fighting game. They didn't outright say it, but they did start talking about EVO and said to keep our eyes open RWBY so fighting game confirmed?

If they're smart enough to have Arc System Works help them make it, it should be really good. Otherwise, I don't trust them to produce anything in-house on their own that's worth much.

Honestly I enjoyed Grimm Eclipse, yeah it was a rail roady but... Well that's not exactly new for a lot of video games so it didn't really bother me.

I mean, it would've been worth it on sale maybe... like... $10 or something.

I'm basically just a salty greenlight adopter.

We are also getting a trailer for each of the girls apparently, they showed a part of Weiss'.
It showed Weiss standing near a fountain sporting a new hairstyle and the teaser cut to black as she was jumped by a white (summoned) Beowolf. It was only about 20 seconds long, but RT has further improved the look of the show. It was gorgeous. They also announced that we are getting trailers for Weiss, Blake, and Yang leading up to Vol. 5.

This exites me on multiple levels. If we're getting one trailer for each member of RWBY or even just WBY (since Ruby has had one already) then that could mean that instead of going several months with nothing to do but wait in agony we could instead get roughly one new trailer per month leading up to the release of Volume 5. I really hope they do that instead of waiting and releasing everything at once since it would give us something to ride us over from the hiatus madness and would help keep the hype alive in the time between the RTX and the volume airing.

I'm also super exited about Weiss getting a new haircut because the sideways ponytail always looked kind of dumb and terrible to me. I know it was symbolic but getting short hair for example would be both symbolic and look good.

Edit.

Mojo seems to think Ruby would disagree with me. :D

And it's supposed to look better than ever? Are they magic or something? :o
Fingers crossed that they've fixed the issues with fight animations as well.

Actually, they announced that we would get the trailers weeks after they premiered at RTX rather than months.

Weiss' hairstyle isn't drastically different, but the ponytail is fully centered now and has a bun for the base. Her ponytail is thinner, so I assume she used part of it to wrap around the knot. And apparently she was wearing her V1-3 outfit.

Super exited about the trailer thing although I kind of hope they spread it out a bit so that we have stuff to look forward to that isn't to far in the future. Kind of disappointed by the Weiss thing, I was hoping she would get short hair but instead it sounds like it might be a flashback. Still a centered ponytail might work as well.

She set up her off-centered ponytail as a defiance against her dad/family, right? So why is it centered now?

Might be a flashback. She's apparently wearing her original outfit after all. The summoned beowolf incident might be Winter knocking some sense into her and giving her the courage to start defying her father.

Also I wonder if they're going to do a contrast thing were they switch between Weiss fighting Winter in the past and the present, with old Weiss getting her ass kicked by the summons while new Weiss holds her own like a badass and makes her big sis super proud.

Edit:
The news that Weiss has changed her hairstyle has had some fun consequences. :D

Arryn clearing up any discussions about the sing BMBLB.

I feel bad for them. They can't just produce a fun song without a wave of people loosing their shit over the meaning of it to the point where official statements are required.

I fear that this is one of the problems when you rely on the various songs to convey elements about the various characters, for example all of Weiss's songs are about how difficult her life as a Schnee are and how she wants to break free from it, where as Qrow's song is about how he can't form meaningful relationships with people due to his bad luck powers being active 24/7

Well more like a problem of having a incredibly skilled composer that you rely on to make your music who unfortunately doesn't want to watch the show you're making.

Really, they act like that just because of what Arryn said regarding the song?

In my case, I like both the song and the ship, but I also look forward to how RT will continue the story.

Sadly this is the inevitable result of any large fandom, there's always going to be some crazies and they're always going to be the loudest. Remember the Harmonians?

Treating Ron like literal satan because he stood in the way of their ship was among the least crazy things they did. J.K Rowling received literal death threats from those nutters. And remember the Zutarans?

It only takes one asshole to ruin a party and there's always going to be a bunch of them in large fandoms, especially since the internet lets them be everywhere. :(

That's the kind of shit that can (and did!) make a creator disgusted by its own creation and just give up...
I'm guessing that person was a fanfiction writer? Because there's no way RT is going to stop producing and making money from RWBY just because assholes on the internet are being assholes on the internet.

Edit:
Anyway to talk about something more fun behold the Double Pyrrha! Certain to scar you for life! :p:D

I like the "fuck you, dad" the best.

There is no Volume 5 preview in the video, but man is the Q & A something else.
Someone spent 2 minutes preaching about how great Barb is as a voice actor, and his question was "How are you going to implement A.I. Into Grimm Eclipse.

25:30 is when guy asks Barb for pun-ishments.

And someone asked "How do you spell Jacque's old last name?"
