RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Is that a good reaction, or a bad one?
Bad. Extremely bad. Like, let's start with why Ruby, the fifteen year old girl, is front and centre in a bikini that outlines individual boobs.

Just... do not lewd the lolis. this isn't hard.

Yeah, let's start with that and go from there.

On the other hand, let's not. There are nicer places to go.

Beach episodes, despite what people think aren't just about (well, some of it is) putting the cast in skimpy swimwear.

Beach episodes, are essentialy breather episodes, in which the cast comes to an understanding and explore each other's backgrounds, making them just a bit more human.

RWBY doesn't deserve a beach episode. It's main cast are not the most well written. There is not enough character progression to justify it. RWBY simply doesn't even have enough material to go on to make one.

Compare this to Avatar, who gave a beach episode .... to the villains, and made THEM sympathetic, even if not all became likable. The point was to explore their backstories, and how the characters dealt (or did not) deal with them. That's how you do a beach episode.

(also Ruby and maybe the other girls are underage and yeaaaaaaaah noooo fuck this shit im out)

Notes on the DVD/BluRay-

Oddly, it lacks the S4 short of Ruby vs the Ape Grimm

And, aw, no voice-actor commentary track!

That said, bunch other extras, and nice disks and suck.

[Discussion] Chibi Season 2, Episode 8: Boy Band
New RWBY Chibi
Oh my gosh the expressiveness on Zwei was amazing! Also what room was Nora coming out of, they kept moving so it couldn't have been hers.

Haha, They have no time for Tai's shenanigans.

Yeah that band went about as well as could be expected XD Loved the alternate band name references and names.

Fair enough. I suppose the artstyle made the Avatar villains seemed older, which made me think they were 17 and above.
Plus, they were actually drawn in clothes that young girls might wear to the beach, rather than "hey, let's draw some of their skin in other colours so I'm not technically drawing underage girls naked."

Although really if anyone other than Ruby had been front and center then it wouldn't be so bad. Everyone else should be 18 by the time the second volume ends which I think is the point this light novel is supposed to be at. However...

There's also this. :sour:

That made me sad when I checked out my copy.

Pretty sure this is at the end of the first volume and even then it'd still be fanservicey.

Kinda surprised they brought up
Ren's dance choreography and deadly allergies within the same skit, given that the first part is a homage to Monty (as the original voice of Ren and the one responsible for JNPR's dance choreography) and a severe allergic reaction was what killed him...

But I suppose Neath must have been cool with it, and I guess Monty would have been too.

So... Jaune likes Insane Clown Posse? 'Fucking magnets, how do they work?'

... well I guess it matches his lack of knowledge about aura.

Also, the other big reason for beach episodes is actually to save your budget(since you can do more static shots).

At the very least Weiss looks how we all feel about that LN Cover.

[News] RWBY announcements at Anime Expo

We are also getting a trailer for each of the girls apparently, they showed a part of Weiss'.
It showed Weiss standing near a fountain sporting a new hairstyle and the teaser cut to black as she was jumped by a white (summoned) Beowolf. It was only about 20 seconds long, but RT has further improved the look of the show. It was gorgeous. They also announced that we are getting trailers for Weiss, Blake, and Yang leading up to Vol. 5.

They also sort of confirmed a RWBY fighting game. They didn't outright say it, but they did start talking about EVO and said to keep our eyes open RWBY so fighting game confirmed?
