RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

And while their joking around can never really be trusted. They hint that RWBY might not reunite in V5
Hinting? What are you on about mate? They were clearly messing around. I will literally buy and then fucking eat a hat if RWBY doesn't reunite at some point in Volume 5.

Dude chill they were clearly not serious.

How would this work?
I suggest you read the article because @owls is making some damned crazy speculation by taking the not completely accurate summaries of the journalist out of context. In the article "losing her power" refers to the loss of her arm in Volume 3 along with all the other bad stuff that happened to her.

I am chill. It's just that consecutive disappointments with this show and its writing staff after actually trying to defend it on repeated occasions, and hoping for more than shallow improvements, has left me a teeny bit colder than I'd care to admit.

And I know they're not being serious, but I would not put it past them to pull that kind of shit, not anymore.

Is there any details on the empty continent in the northwest portion of remnants map?

They didn't actually say anything about when team RWBY would get back together: the question in the article was "will RWBY ever get back together" and they made some jokes. Nothing about it happening or not happening in Vol. 5 specifically.

[Video] RWBY Volume 5 Weiss Character Short
The Weiss trailer is out:

That was impressive, I confess part of me was hoping it would be her mother helping her train, but Winter is also awesome. I like her veiled point about how she won't always be there to protect Weiss and how she'll need to be strong to leave, sure it seems like she's talking about Grimm, but the underlying point is about their abusive home life under Jac. The animation was overall really solid, Weiss's fighting was energetic and entertaining, I did feel the segment where Winter hit her with the ice was a bit weak, but otherwise it was incredibly strong, sharp and smooth.

The choregraphy was nice. I must admit I was a bit concerned after last season's finale. Hopefully it will keep to at least that level in the next season.

She's always been like that? Elegance and poise are kind of her thing.

Weiss is deprived of Myrtenaster. Again. Why didn't she defend herself with glyphs in the meantime, while moving to retrieve her weapon?

Not so much the dance-like footwork, at several points there she was outright posing, granted it wasn't JoJo levels of ridiculousness, but still. :V
That's the second time that she's deprived of Myrtenaster, the first being the fight against the Boarbatusk during Port's class. Why didn't she defend herself with glyphs in the meantime, while moving to retrieve her weapon?
Given this is pre-canon she was likely more dramatic and less experienced, hence more overt posing and not utilizing her Glyphs as creatively as she could.

Yeah, the dancy-ness of her fighting seemed kind of off to me. When we got that look inside her head during the Beacon initiation she was much more ridged: "Head up, shoulders backs, right foot forward, not that far forward."

Maybe its supposed to show Weiss had more whimsy in her younger years?
