RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

ok. The big fight felt a bit too DBZ for me. Too much line dashes and too fast for there to be much sense of actual weight.

Also when I saw the giant swords I kept going 'just stab her, stab her while she transforms' because seriously. They take turns showing them off.

Oh and Mercury that punch was slooooow.

Why do people assume that Yang is planning to fight Raven? The entire reason she was able to reach the Vault in the first place is because she moved beyond her "Punching harder solves all problems!" mentality and instead found a way to win without fighting. The reason Yang is the one sent into the Vault is almost certainly because she has the best bet of talking Raven down since she's her daughter.

It probably won't work but its the best shot they have since all their strongest fighters are down or busy dealing with the remaining enemies.

Edit:
Also did anyone else love how the second she got back on her feet again Weiss basically went "Oh, so we're impaling each other now? That's a thing we're doing? Ok. Just remember that turnabout is fair play. ;)"

So looks like Adam isn't as dangerous if he can't charge his Semblance. I guess that makes sense, he certainly seemed a lot less mobile than Blake in the Black trailer.
And Nora actually hit Hazel so hard two of the dust crystals implanted in him went flying out. That would have hurt if he could feel pain.

Meanwhile Cinder and Raven are having a Maidenfight that results in Cinder's (apparent) death.
Kind of funny how they each made wildly impractical swords and then proceeded to suffer the consequences as the falling stalactites shattered them after a single hit.
And I guess we see why Raven's the only one who ever uses blades made of Dust, given how easily they break.

Also, what's the color scheme for the Maidens? I thought Fall was orange given both Cinder and Amber had glowing orange eyes and Cinder has the orange energy ball thing as well as the orange glow when the Fall power is being transferred, but Raven's eyes glow red while she has a glowing blue energy ball and the Summer power is red when being transferred. Do the powers just glow in the current host's eye color and the energy ball thing is something different?
And why couldn't Cinder use her Aura on her arm? The explanation for why Grimm can't use Aura is they don't have souls, but Aura can presumably be used on normal prosthetics and the arm is attached to Cinder. Does it not count as part of Cinder in an Aura sense because the arm it it's own living being?

Given that Cinder apparently needed Training with said arm during the events of Season 4 I would say that yes that arm has something to do with it.

I love how much smarter Raven is than anyone thought she was, its great, as is her highlighting it just so Cinder freaks out, turns around and thus presents her back to a much stronger foe than Vernal was.

SO MANY CINDER FALL PUNS

Wow and Adam just goes down like a bitch.

Also Yang I'm not one to judge but trying to fight your mother, the Spring Maiden, by yourself, with one arm, is a bit...poorly planned
To be fair, it was Ruby who ordered her down there alone.
how fast were Cinder and Raven moving in order to fight on the falling stalagmites?
I desperately want the answer to this as well :D I figure if someone can determine how fast they were falling, then figuring out their speeds would be doable.

Why do people assume that Yang is planning to fight Raven? I think its worth keeping in mind that they have no idea what went on down there, Yang was seemingly ordered down, alone, to go and deal with Raven, Vernal and Cinder unless Ruby automatically deduced that they had turned on each other in which case Yang would still presumably being sent down to fight. She might not, but I am pretty sure that's why she was sent, as they have no real reason to think diplomacy is possible at this point if Raven is even alive.

She did seal of Ember Celica though so there might not be a fight or she might try talking though I personally have wanted one armed Yang VS Raven, or Adam, or Merc since V3.

This episode's fight scene is so Kingdom Hearts. I love it though. Kinda disappointed with how they're dealing with the Faunus/Menagerie sub-plot but I kinda expected it.

I'm not sure if the MVP is Nora or Weiss. Hmmm...

The maidenbrawl was great, and it seems like we're going to have some mother-daughter conversation next episode. IIRC the next one will be the last one, right? So there's plenty of stuff to resolve (or one hell of a cliffhanger to leave us with).

I'm a bit disappointed that Qrow has been quite underwhelming this entire segment. But you can't really have anything, I supposed.

Also, start chanting this with me:
"Bumblebee, Bumblebee, Bumblebee-"

:V

Same, reminds me of this!

That fight is now in my top three RWBY fights :D And yeah a lot to resolve, I wonder if they can do it in 15 or if we'll need more time.

I'm just imagining that whole "You and Raven are too equally matched!" and then reflecting on how much faster that fight would have been if Raven could have used all her powers myself XD

Bumblebee, Bumblebee, Bumblebee!

Seriously I want more of them, desperately, I hope they have time for a good chat this volume, or at least have somehting like... I don't know, Yang getting injured, waking up without her prosthetic but this time Blake is by her side.

....wonder if they can ride on the lancer queen?
hey, beats walking...

and of course

Bumblebee, Bumblebee, Bumblebee!

I couldn't even tell what took Qrow down! Whether it was Leo or maybe the Mercury/Emerald duo.

And yea, Bumblebee ^^

Qrow is basically a DPS that's been forced to serve as a Tank to keep the lower level players alive. Because Hazel is a beast.

yes, but they can ride the queen to get to the dragon.
If any Summon is going to serve as a flying mount it will be the Giant Nevermore. Though I kind of hope Weiss kills some Griffons at some point so that the entire team can get some dogfighting action.

Right, so now I'm up to date.
Or well, one episode late since I'm a filthy youtube peasant but hey.

I have to say, I was quite... underwhelmed by ep 11 and 12.

[News] BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle Blake and Yang DLC
If anyone is following Cross Tag stuff- the game got a lot of bad press yesterday, due to the DLC announcements. Blake will be launch DLC, Yang is also DLC.

It's not often that a company that isn't at a convetion is the big loser of a convention, but a lot of folks at PAX South I'm talking to (FGC and RWBY fans) - well let's just be glad no one here has Yang's aura.

I do think we need to wait and see on prices, but this is a no good, very bad look.

I can see why they'd rather have Blake and Yang as part of the standard game.

To be fair to Arcsys, the game is releasing end of May, assets have to be done soon. Making brand-new characters is time consuming, especially when most of Arcsys's manpower is going towards DBFZ, which is going to be a megahit game.

They might be rushing the date due to EVO, and wanting the game out before EVO and try to get it in there.

The rest of BBXT's roster is largely cut and paste, but they're adding new animations there as well. Making sprite assets is not easy. The folks I'm with here at PAX South make those for their game, and it's a lot of work. ^_^

The nickel and dime roster is horrid PR, especially given the proliferation of that in the genre lately, and Blake/Yang are core content to RWBY fans.
