RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

I was more referring to the "is it even an option" bit.
Although she also seems to prefer human agents also you could kill those with a good enough counterintelligence network to cripple her. Probably because Grimm aren't exactly stealthy and are implied to take much longer to grow stronger and smarter than it takes for an equally strong Hunter to be trained.
That might be only for "Natural" born Grimm since the Red Trailer is canon and the explanation for why the Grimm there were so different was that the Grimm Ruby fought were very young that they did not even have there armor yet, however at the beginning of Season 4 we see a fully formed Grimm with Armor emerge from a pool of liquid in Salems territory. This would imply that Salem can create fully formed Grimm with all the intelligence it entails.

EDIT: No wonder Raven thinks that they cannot win.

Uh, citation? Because I'm pretty sure the actual explanation for the new Grimm designs is that they were retconned and always looked like the newest design in-universe. Look at the Weiss and Yang flashback trailers to see it in action.

I have heard it said that they at one point explained the Red Trailer Beowolves appearance as them being malnourished, but I don't have a source, sorry.

So, I recently started watching RWBY (started because everyone here was talking about it, and there was some fanfics that I wanted to read1, stayed to keep up with Leila's Let's Watch, and continued ahead of her because there's some episodes in S2 that were genuinely enjoyable.

And thus I am now starting season 4 ('tis why I won't really check the thread until I've caught up :V), but holy cow the animation gets really better.

Good luck with your watching!

[FIRST] Volume 5, Chapter 13: Downfall
Oh wow. So, we didn't get to see much fighting out of Angry!Ruby, but we do get to see Nora get really, really angry and hammerpult Hazel into next bloody week.

Blake tries to talk Adam down while surrounding him with her army, this predictably fails, and then she OHKO's him.

Weiss wakes up and distracts the rage monster that is a now-doubly-infused Hazel with a summoned Deathstalker stinger through the gut.

Yang decides that she really doesn't need her robot arm very much and also that Merc isn't worth her time, disengaging it when he tries to grab her on her way down the vault elevator shaft.

Maidenbrawl was epic, Raven is a fucking beast.

Oh, and it looks like Cinder died.

Now Momma Branwen and Yang look like they're about to have a faceoff too.

I can't wait for next week.

That or Cinder is playing possum and waiting for the right moment to strike after all Yang being there would be a big distraction for Cinder to use.

My guess is that Raven and Yang get into it, then Cinder rises up and tries to pull the power out of Raven so Raven kills herself first to pass the power onto Yang.

AAAHHHHH!

I AM SO HYPED & SCARED!

Kudos to all who called Jaune's Semblance.

Weiss is snarking the moment she's up, I love Weiss.

Go Nora, she rekt Hazel twice, wooh!

Hazel is still a coward who refuses to help.

Seems sending most of his forces away may not have been a great idea, I wish some of the WF soldiers had surrendered to their kin though.

Adam is like a temperamental brat,it fits him so well and oh snap he got wrekt by Blake!

I genuinely did not see that coming with all his build up and Armed and Ready, think he may make at least one come back.

That "Yang" scene melts my heart but I want more!

Why is Yang being sent down alone!?

Yang just ditching her arm is great.

Raven is so much smarter than anyone thought and I am loving it!

THAT FIGHT WAS EPIC!

No Vernal!

Interesting pocket plane.

Oh snap, Yang, facing down Raven, with one arm... I have wanted this for so long but also fear it will be used to let Cinder or Salem somehow get the relic!

Hazel also got rekt again, go Weiss.

[/spoiler[

It wasn't a Deathstalker. It was the Queen Lancer.

EDIT: Also, was it just me or did anyone else get confused about Raven using so much ice all the time?

Well we haven't really seen her have an elemental preference, her red sword might indicate Burn Dust but that was just theory.

Plus she may have been trying to counter Cinder's flames.

I was thinking more about how they seemed to be showing the Spring Maiden's power as wind and lightning earlier, but now she was using ice constantly

I think the Maidens just have broad control over all elements, Amber conjured up a storm and lightning, controlled leaves and turned them into ice daggers after all. A storm is also a great cover as it doesn't need to come from Raven herself so it was easier to pass it off as Vernal doing it.

SO MANY CINDER FALL PUNS

Wow and Adam just goes down like a bitch.

Also Yang I'm not one to judge but trying to fight your mother, the Spring Maiden, by yourself, with one arm, is a bit...poorly planned

Visual contrast: ice effects in RWBY are blue, and balancing orange with blue is a very well-established practice in visual media. Especially in scenes where there's a lot going on, as the fight was once the rocks started falling, that kind of contrast helps make it easier to tell what's going on.

Well we definitely saw where the budget went!

I did like the episode as a whole, and Weiss using the summon's stinger? *Brutal*! Still, the disconnected between the levels of the big fight and the other ones was a bit much. I understand limited resources, but they need to train up their B-team or something.

Give her some credit she didn't know she'd be facing Raven one on one

Last she saw there were two Maidens and Raven going down to the relic. 3 vs 1 is much better odds.

Edit: Yang is the one not Cinder in this situation
