RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

As others have said the general assumption is Bull Faunus, to be fair though his horns are read and blend in with his hair really well I didn't actually notice them until they were pointed out.

Yeah, noticed them when I checked his design. I do kind of wish that, in general, the animal traits of most Faunus were more prominent. As is you can sometimes miss them entirely.

It is frustrating how difficult they can be to see sometimes yeah. I'm still waiting for Blake to keep her ears out constantly.

Also am I the only one who thought Glynda killing Grim sounded like she was firing a gun? I mean I assume it was Qrow but it really sounded like it came from her.

It looks like they aren't as rushed as last season, so it will take longer than 10 minutes to wrap everything up. Likewise, I hope the events will actually be mentioned next season even if it does get resolved before the beginning of season 4, unlike The Breach which is practically never mentioned again.

So how do you think the season finale will turn out? Do you think they will beat back Team Evil, the Grimm and White Fang, or will it be something more like this?

Whatever happens, Vale is going to be in ruins. The Kingdom might survive in a general sense that people can and do still live there but it certainly won't be the same.

Some people over on SB came up with an interesting and kind of cool theory that working under Cinder has actually made Adam realize how far he'd already fallen and to fall further in her service and that his creepy villain act is all an attempt to seem enough like a scumbag that Blake will kill him causing Cinder to lose her hold on the White Fang due to Blake being both a former member and a Faunus. That is to say a human killing him would lead to angry White Fang, a former member who left due to their spiral down might be a different story if played right.

I just watched ep 10, and other than Ironwood being awesome with a pistol, Atlasean system security sucks. First they let the Coliseum get cooped, then their own robots?
Look into your systems security staff there.

To be fair the hack happened from what was essentially one of the master control consoles, right after the other two control consoles had been destroyed.

What Sinsystems said and its being Hinted at that Cinder has a backer a VERY powerful one at that. I wont be surprised just as there is a Cabal to keep the Maidens safe there is one trying to use them and Cinder is part of that one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but upon another rewatch of the previous episode, we might have missed yet another new type of Grimm. When the WF drop Grimm onto the platform, we see a two legged Grimm that looks kind of like a Utahraptor that I'm fairly certain hasn't been seen before. I apologize if this has already been brought up.

I think you are referring to the Creeps, they showed up during the season 2 finale as well.

[Discussion] Chapter 11: Heroes and Monsters
AaaaaahI had it up then accidentally hit refresh!

17 minutes and 35 seconds, another long one, the increase in episode length has really served this season well.

The dragon just flew by Ruby and its bringing in more Grim. Wooh Ruby took out a Griffon but looks puffed afterwards, Neo is recording it and... Wow her illusions look crazy strong no matter what she just did its like she created new clothes whole cloth!

Hah, she texted Roman "Guess who?" I love it! Roman looks less than pleased.

Adam sounds mildly crazy as he talks about him and Blake being destined to light fires of revolution and was about to stab a beaten student in the gut, Blake slams him back though, awesome!

Velvet's unconscious and Coco's getting thrown around, the students are getting overwhelmed!

Woah, those new Paladins are tough as nails!

Velvet looks so excited to open her box!

AAAAAAAAAHHH YEEEESSSSSS! She makes copies of weapons and the fighting styles up and to including bullets from Ember Celica all in hard light form Oh my goodness so awesome! Even Penny's weapons get called on!

She took out two new Paladins solo! But then got surprised by a third. Coco demands blood! Wooh Weiss summons part f her knight in defence of Velvet!

Haha, so dramatic then another one arrives and Sun's all so done with this urg!

Neo dodges Ruby with seeming ease but also isn't getting in close for a hit, and Roman tags in with a surprise shot flinging Ruby back but she buries Crescent Rose in to the ships hull! No Roman, don't do it Roman, don't monologue you were pragmatic damn you! Welp, Roman and Cinder apparently want all of Vale to burn... Wow. Now Neo gets some hits in and Nevermore from the front! Interesting, Roman says he can;t afford to lose and he and Neo work so well together she literally uses him as a springboard to jump at Ruby. Roman shows a new ability slamming Stevey into the ground and launching it at Ruby, were those Glyphs? Roman's feeling is if you can'y beat em join em and, holy shit Ruby just popped Neo's umbrella and sent her hurtling into the sky and Roman sounds genuinely worried and upset! Woah Roman is showing all sorts of new abilities and Ruby made an awesome callback to Roman's own line before a super charge at him,not going so great though. Roman lays into Ruby ranting that the world isn't fair and she should die like a hero, like every other Hunter ever. NOOOOOOO Roman! He got eaten all of a sudden mid speech, this is why you don't monologue you fool, why!? The giant Griffon charged s and without missing a beat Ruby surprise kicks it into the ship bringing it down, like a boss. Wow, mammoth rider will be crushed.

Call back to the Emerald Forest Ruby slows her momentum after jumping off a flaming falling airship. Hey Cardin got some proxy revenge on an Ursa and... new character saves him from robots? Ironwood is back, mechanical arm and clothing damage and all and he slaughters the robots! And Qrow attacks Ironwood, also we see his scythe, looks cool. Oooh he attacks the Griffon trying to surprise Ironwood. Ironwood says taking control of his robots is impossible so they must have good security, Qrow and Glynda take orders from him and those Atlesian Knights are dedicated as (Beep!) but die without a signal.

The last Paladin falls over and it seem Beacon is free of Grim, Yang arrives, late to the party sadly. Yang sends Weiss, leaning on her sword and sleepy, after Ruby and goes to help Blake, Weiss gives a tired thumbs up, everyone else continues to pose.

'Jaune Pyrrha and Ozpin are running into the vault, Pyrrha wants to explain Ozpin is all 'get in the pod' and tells Jaune to stand guard. Pyrrha gets in the machine.

Adam rants at Blaake, Blake wanted peace, equality, Adam says its impossible and slaps her while she's down. Jerk. Adam swears to bring "justice" to man kind, claims he wants her but its impossible and will destroy all she loves and then Yang shows up. Adam plans to kill Yang in front of Blake.

The transfer starts! Ozpin needs to hear Pyrrha say it, she does he thanks her. Ozpin is sorry, Pyrrha is scremaing, Jaune is worried and then Cinder shoots a half awake and dying Amber through the chest! Guess we can take super awareness of Ozpin's list of abilities, though he was distracted.

Holy shit Adam stabs Blake in the stomach! Yang goes all fire and fury and charges, Blake begs her not to and Yang attacks, but Adam does too and it looks like Yang is falling.

The lights go out in the vault, Amber glows a sickly green, oh gods!

Yang just lost her arm!!!!!!

Cinder just got all the power before it could get to Pyrrha! Jaune attacks, Ozpin warns him not to and Cinder blasts Jaune back. How is Pyrrha not breaking that glass? Guess she's tired. Oh, she just flung the door at Cinder who bats it away. Ozpin sends Pyrrha off with Jaune as she will only get in the way, she is to get the rest of the secret society so they can stop the tower from falling. Cinder has no interest in them and looks eager to fight Ozpin.

Adam approaches a downed Yang. Blake collapses between Adam and Blake and he casks why must she hurt him, maximum tool there. He decapitated her! Oh wait, shadow clone, Blake is escaping with Yang, phew! Also the Grim are attacking the White Fang too it seems, Adam you are an idiot.

Cinder is talking to Ozpin, she sounds like she's seething "This whole time, right beneath out feet" - "She was right about you, such arrogance" Oh my, interesting!

Over the outro we're seeing Roman model designs, oh Roman, oh Neo, come back to us :(

Neo is sassy!
Velevet is best Bunny. and someone pick up the phone this board CALLLED IT!
Neo mary Poppins confirmed.
Roman....you better live.
Ironwood you BOSS! MWHAHAHAHAHA! Also semi-shirtless......
Qrow scythe YES to the thousandth power!
HOLY.....Yang:(

Rooster teeth was NOT kidding about this show not being for kids good god.

FUCKING FUCK.

The episode starts off with Ruby on top the airship, watching in horror as the Dragon flies by. Some Gryphons attacks, but she dispatches them with ease... Only for Neo to arrive on the scene. Torchwick gets notified, and heads up too. Meanwhile, Blake confronts Adam, and their duel begins.

Outside in the courtyard, the collected teams are being overwhelmed by the advanced Paladins; even heavy hitters like Nora and Coco aren't enough. So, what better time than now, to open a mysterious little box... "I May Fall" starts rocking as Velvet finally, finally reveals her weapon.

She's a mimic! She copies other people's weapons! And she uses all of Team RWBY's to devastating effect, before drawing on Sun's, Nora's, and Coco's in turn--before finishing off with Penny's ultimate beam laser. (Velvet OP, please nerf :p.) But even she has her limits, and takes one unfortunate blow--even though she can use others' weapons, she doesn't have the rest of their amazing abilities.

But it's everyone else to the rescue, rallying after Velvet's comeback. And Weiss dashes in to protect Velvet, calling upon a familiar glyph: she finally manifests her first (partial) summon, invoking the Knight's sword arm to hold off and dispatch the Paladin. The teams cheer, having survived the onslaught... only for an even more advanced Paladin model to appear. Michael Jones as Sun expresses his frustration well.

Back atop the airship, Ruby's faring a little better against Neo than Yang did, but it's still rather lopsided, especially when Torchwick arrives. She's nearly knocked off the airship, hanging onto Crescent Rose with Neo's blade at her throat... Before she realizes the fatal flaw of Neo's weapon: it's still a fucking umbrella. And aboard a moving airship with all that wind... Ruby's quick to open up the umbrella, and Neo goes sailing away like Mary Poppins.

Ruby and Torchwick have a tussle, and Ruby goes a long way to asserting just what she's learned about being a hero: no matter what it takes, she and all the rest will stop Cinder and Torchwick. But sadly, he's not having any of that, and handily beats her down--his cynicism is far tougher than her pointless idealism. He's going to do what he does best: survive.

Only to be swallowed whole by a Gryphon (there's no way he's dead). Ruby kicks the (heroic?) Grimm away, just as the airship begins to fall from the sustained Grimm attacks. Ruby leaps to safety, one enemy finally defeated.

On the ground in Vale, Glynda and Qrow continue to fight, with an unexpected cameo from Cardin. But just as it looks like the resident class bully's about to get his teeth fed to him, Ironwood makes his triumphant return--badly wounded, clothes torn (and revealing his right half, not just his arm, is mechanical!)--but still badass enough to take them Grimm down with his explosive pistol. Qrow and Glynda seem shocked at his arrival--furious actually, as Qrow finally activates his scythe fully. Ironwood pleads his innocence in the robot army's turn, but Qrow charges him anyway... Only to cut down a Gryphon sneaking up on the general in a classic bit of misdirection. The three make a plan to rally and retake the airship... just as it falls out of the sky courtesy of Ruby's handiwork. The robots deactivate entirely as the control ship is destroyed (someone didn't watch The Phantom Menace).

Ozpin, Pyrrha, and Jaune dash through the vault between the school. Jaune doesn't quite understand what's going on, but agrees to defend them all while Pyrrha makes her choice.

Above in the school, Blake's not faring well. Yang's searching for her, but Adam's easily throwing Blake around--and for her betrayal, he promises to destroy everything she loves. Down below, the transfer process begins.

Yang picks the most inopportune moment to arrive: Adam plays her like a fiddle, stabbing Blake before her eyes. Yang goes supernova, her full rage unleashed immediately... But Adam knows how to deal with overwhelming force. With a single slash, Yang's beaten--and missing an arm.

And just as the transfer seems to be working... Cinder arrives, and finishes the job she started years ago. An arrow pierces the window of Amber's pod, and the Fall Maiden finally dies. Pyrrha's safe, true--but Cinder now holds the complete powers of a Maiden.

Up top, Adam's on the verge of killing Blake. He goes for a decapitating blow, actually striking through Blake. But he's forgotten her Semblance, and she manages to flee, carrying the badly wounded Yang.

In the vault, there's nothing left to do. Ozpin orders Pyrrha and Jaune to flee and call for Glynda and the rest of the protectors--the tower must not fall. Cinder calls out Ozpin's arrogance once more, for thinking to hide the Maiden right beneath her nose. As the students flee, a last showdown begins: Ozpin vs. Cinder.

EDIT: Come to think of it, this is pretty much The Empire Strikes Back for the series, between the crushing, ruinous defeats and the arm severing. Ozpin's super dead, setting the tone for Volume 4 :(.

Seriously, holy fucking fuck.
