RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

A part of me wants to say Ruby already built something for him. Not as crazy as that, but this is a corgi who was perfectly willing to be used as a projectile against several mecha and successfully head butt a beowolf (still feels weird typing it like that).

Clearly any pet owned by hunters is both quirky and perfectly willing to defend people should they be needed.

Given that if you have an unlocked aura you can, at least potentialy, unlock other creatures Auras, I'm surprised we haven't seen a hunstman/huntress beast tamer.

Ruby vs Neo, wonder how that'll go. And Roman you've got buttons to press and people with no real way of fighting back to open fire on, what are you doing on the outside of the ship?

Well, aside from the illusions, Ruby is arguably better equipped to go against Neo than Yang was. She's not as easy to rile up, faster, and has more reach which negates Neo getting in to slap her around. On the other hand, Neo is...Neo.

Also, creepy as the 'my love' thing is, can I say that with the Adam and Blake bit they've come so far on the facial animations? I mean, compare Blake's expressions there, to anything from V2 or, god forbid, V1.

Well Adam seems to be gone from 'We are a force of revolution!' to full on villain at this point, I'm more or less expecting Blake and Adam to have been a thing at this point but given how... odd, he sounds part of me still wonders if Adam isn't just kind of crazy and or being creepy.

Also Roman looked so much like the big bad here, not even just here but like at the end of last season sure he was in prison but he still seemed confident, in control and that laugh was chilling, then when he was let out by Neo it really felt like a big bad just sitting back and waiting for his minions to get the job done. Of course I also feel Cinder's been doing a good job of main villaining it up, she's just a different style of villain, they contrast well against one another... Roman for Cinders King/Queen? In a none shippy way.

It seems Neo is doing well, this isn't a huge shock to me, Ruby does have a bit more of a type advantage in fighting than Yang did but that was only in theory, Ruby's big swipes make it harder for her to handle Neo's Close Quarters Combat and if Neo gets in her guards she's got problems as she's not as skilled or as tough as Yang who got stomped.

I had tossed out the idea that Adam had been tweaked by Cinder to insure that he would be loyal resulting in him being somewhat off. His latest lines only make that impression stronger.

It's strange. I assume the point of showing Cinder threatening the White Fang with destruction was to give some sympathy points to them. But they immediately lost those points when they showed up fighting alongside the Grimm.

They're like Cerberus. You can understand why they're doing what they're doing, and then they go destroy all of that sympathy and understanding by doing incredibly stupid thing like screwing with Reaper techdeciding that burning Vale to the ground is a good way to accomplish their goals.

That's definitely an interesting idea, not one I'd considered, I was just assuming he'd jumped off the slippery slope once placed under Cinder's control because he had both more anger, and more of an excuse to go nuts.

Well you have to remember that Cinder strong armed him by threatening his men etc after her powerup.

But at the end of season 2 after a lot of said men got left in the tunnels to be eaten by Grimm/crushed to death etc he was all 'meh no problem, I'll get them to wall in line'. He didn't seem to care that a large % of his people had died.

I know, that's sort of what I meant by jumping off the deep end, at some point it became less about helping Faunus and more about lashing out and everyone and everything consequences be damned. Cinder forcing the position on him for as long as she had could have initially served as an excuse for him to shrug off losses with a "I'm not making them do this, she is, its not my fault they're dying" before the list of excuses ran short and he was left with nothing but the self knowledge that he'd happily sign off his entire species death warrant if it meant taking down the humans as well.

I could be wrong though.

If adam is being mind controlled it would be interesting if "My Darling" is a code word for trap. Being who they are I have no doubt such ideas of a faked letter or forced one to lure out the others in hiding was thought of.

And him saying My Darling is the last little bit of Adam warning Blake about himself in the best way he can since he doesnt call her that in the trailer or in the parts he has shown up its only now and Blake has never hinted their relationship was such that My Darling would be normal it seemed more like a Big Brother or father figure to me when Blake talked about it.

I am curious if our ideas of a Mind Bent Adam are true or not.

If he is being controlled in some way, possibly by a Grimm, who's to say the Grimm would know what emotions to tug and how, or particularly care.

Platonic Love == Romantic Love == Lust to a Grimm using them to drive its shiny new human suit.

For example : Platonic Love == Romantic Love == Lust to a Grimm using them to drive its person suit.
If his emotions are Grimm effected I would expect the sequence to go a bit darker since those critters are all about negative emotions.

You know a desire for domination/control of another person, Yandere, etc etc. The dark sides of the emotion called 'love' that most people don't really like thinking about.

That is...disturbing if correct.
But it also makes a poor combatant if true because little things happen in battle all the time frustration over a missed shot, anger at a cut, Hope with an attack, pride when you hit, enjoyment of combat, the thrill of meeting someone at your level the list goes on.
Good warriors have all this and keep it controlled a grim possession being jerked around wouldnt be able to handle it and would be HEAVILY unstable. Which both makes them more and less dangerous more because they are unstable and unpredictable but easier because you can goad them into mistakes and that kind of ups and downs WILL make sloppy fighting.

Well it's just an idea. We honestly don't know enough about Adam or his motivations to say anything to be honest.

That is a fascinating and rather cool idea, though Blake's expression doesn't seem to reflect that but assuming he's under the control of the Grim isn't liable to be Blake's first instinct.

That's also an intriguing, and disturbing idea. Though don't you mean Faunus suit?

Most people assume Bull, both because name (Adam Taurus) and the fact his hair has what appears to be horns.

Guys one thing to keep in mind is that Roosterteeth is very good at cutting the teasers in a way that takes the shown scenes out of context.

True and Blake's behavior makes me wonder since that strikes me as very....unblakey.
Do we actually know what sort of Faunus Adam is?
Bull I think since he has horns and last name
No Sith give into their emotions but go beyond it to a COLD rage the place where you are so beyond angry you cant be angry any more its hard to describe but its suppose to be all the dark emotions free but channeled unlike Jedi where they are locked away.
