RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Ruby can one-shot kill Cinder by literally just looking at her, so that's a very sensible response from her to put as many proxies between them as possible. :D
Yeah for Cinder specifically Ruby might as well have the Eye of Balor.
I'm going to say that's probably not true. Salem's immortality comes from the GoL same as Ruby's Silver Eyes.

Her malice is at least in part from her jumping in the Grimm pools, sure, but she also had decades or centuries to stew before that and we know she can carry grudges forever without it's influence.

Ruby might be able to sever her natural control over Grimm, but I think that'll be about it.

An interesting analysis inspired by Fairly Tales of Remnant. As my own additional little note the Faunus tales has Ozpin note in the commentary that their stories are typically open ended without neat and tidy "happily ever after" conclusions, as the Faunus see themselves as still being in the middle of a story that is still unfolding with their true purpose in the world yet to be revealed.

I have said it before but Fairy Tales of Remnant is a really good book. It's well worth it's price.

"a story with a happy ending might turn out to be a tragedy, and heroes might turn out to be villains. Hopefully, the reverse is also true."
so a tragedy into a happy ending, and a villain into a hero.
wonder what that would mean for the show if it does happen.

Alert: Rule 2: Don't Be Hateful - Don't fantasize about a character getting maimed and/or tortured
rule 2: don't be hateful - don't fantasize about a character getting maimed and/or tortured Hello everyone, sorry to interrupt.
Seriously, given the state Ruby has left two of her foes in, Ironwood should be worried about his remaining fleshy bits :)
*after they retrieve Oscar and hear how Ironwood shot him*

Nora - "Ironwood still has one normal leg left, right?"

Ruby - *prepping Crescent Rose* "Not for long."
Qrow - "My little niece cut off a faunus' tail because they nearly killed me." (Marrow grabs his own tail and holds it close) "What do you think she'll do to you, Ironwood, when she hears what you tried to do to Oscar?"
"She gave you a chance, and you pissed it all away. You might need a catheter to piss in future."
@Matrix Dragon and @Pugman, I would like to remind both of you that Rule 2: Don't Be Hateful asks posters on SV not discuss fantasies about the kind of violence that will be visited on someone. This policy extends to fictional characters. We can discuss characters getting angry. We can discuss characters threatening each other. However when we start eagerly getting into the detail of a character maim or potentially torture another character, that stops being appropriate for this forum. While neither are you are in breach of Rule 2 at this time, this conversation had a potential to steer into very dangerous water if it went any farther.

I wish to repeat, neither of you are in any sort of trouble. I just want to direct your attention to Rule 2 so that both of you - and others in this thread - can be more conscious of what you're about to post going forward. Now back to your (ir?)regularly scheduled fanfiction.

Duly noted. No jokes about a characters in-universe willingness to do whatever needs to be done to win over her enemy, up to and including cutting off limbs, and the dangers of another character, who just ruined another limb because of his stupidity, actually making an enemy of her.

Some news from tumblr:

As someone who didn't like Volume 3, I'm a bit ambivalent about this but I'll wait and see how things play out.

For those who cant see it it's the wanted poster for RWBY/ORNJ but now Pietro, Penny, and Maria have been added.

And so the widespread purges begin... how much do we bet that the Happy Huntresses, Winter and some (or maybe all) of the Ace-Ops team will figure on that list by the end of the volume?

And so the widespread purges begin...
To be fair, the purges already begun when Watts shut off the heat and effectively doomed Mantle to die by locking anyone who could fix it out of the security. A different kind of purge (the "all crime is legal, do what you want" kind), yes, but a purge nonetheless.

The Grimm Campaign is hilarious. I can't wait for Season 2. By that point Talespire will hopefully be ready for sale and I will be truly getting back into Tabletop Roleplaying again.

And man I hope Eddy and co take full advantage of the new features that Talespire are rolling out to make the next season as epic as possible.

I'd love to see an underwater fight where they reveal new types of Aquatic Grimm that we've never seen before. We've only seen the big and rare Aquatic Grimm in the show so far. I'm curious to see what the rank and file low/mid-tier Aquatic Grimm look like.

Hey, at least they remembered Maria this time. She's still a little salty at being missed over the airship theft... Or that just might be the cashews.

And really, the night of long knives began in Ironwoods office last volume.

8 Myths about RWBY on YouTube
by ebregmanon October 29, 2020
Yesterday we removed RWBY episodes from all of our YouTube channels, and many of you had questions about what went into the decision-making process. I thought I'd clear up a few myths that came up in multiple comments.

MYTH #1: "RWBY is easier to watch on YouTube than on Rooster Teeth"
Subjective, but I'll go ahead and say false. With our new apps on Xbox, Apple TV, Roku, and Fire TV, existing apps for iOS and Android (which have that tap-to-shuttle feature everyone loves), and more, we have a lot of feature parity with YouTube.

MYTH #2: "This move was forced upon Rooster Teeth by WarnerMedia"
False. With the launch of our new living room apps, we can now provide a TV experience to the RWBY community. That's why we chose to do this now. This decision was made based on data and research, with a cross-functional review of the positive and negative impacts to the community and our business.

MYTH #3: "The Rooster Teeth apps don't have closed captioning"
False. Every RWBY episode on Rooster Teeth has English closed captions, and Volume 8 will too. In the last 12 months, 85% of YouTube views on RWBY episodes did not use captions, 9.7% used English, and 5.3% used any other language besides English. It's our goal to close that 5.3% gap, but covering 94.7% of use cases for closed captions gives us confidence we're offering a quality experience.

Is that video suggesting Glynda is a relic?

Also, its baaack!
Warning for cursing:

Yup. They have the theory that Glynda Goodwitch is the Spirit of the Relic of Choice.
They have another video that goes into detail on his theory. Off the top of my head the reasons are;
Crown for insignia
Close ties to Ozpin
Based on the Goodwitch of the Oz series, which makes her a magic user like Jinn (The Genie) and the theorized spirit of the Staff, The Blue Fairy from Pinocchio.

Me? I don't believe his Glynda theory at all.
As for the rest of the theory? Meh I feel it's more or less solid.
