RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

One option that would drive shippers wild is if she gets a scar like Weiss' but on the opposite side of her face. XD I know it won't happen, but the hate, salt, and "they are shoving shipping/gay agenda down our throats" will skyrocket if it did.
So, in that case, Monochrome would be confirmed because of Blake and Weiss having matching scars :p

The "Ruby losing an eye" theory isn't because people want her to become cynical and what not, it's because there is a scary amount of foreshadowing for it. Both in the narrative and in Ruby's own design (her bangs sometimes cover one of her eyes).

I don't want it to happen, and hope it doesn't, but considering what happened to Maria, it's not off the table.

Also every member of team RWBY has a scar or permanent injury of some kind. Except her.

to something a bit lighter-

this is from 2017, and I still wish to this day that someone would post a decent version of someone singing it.
it feels so good, but the only covers I have come across are.....not that good. >.>"

I wish that was the case, but there's a lot of grimderpers in this fandumb who used to be REALLY LOUD about how it would make her 'grow up and stop treating it like a fairy tale.' most of whom were louder before we saw her eyes do funky magic, so go figure.

Ah yes, the same people who clearly did not pay attention to the first (and so far only) time Blake and Ruby have held a proper conversation together on screen.

To be fair, they're a minority. It's just that they don't shut up. Ever. So, people that think it would fit narratively tend to be drowned out by the Stupid.

I do have a minor nitpick with the scar on Blake. Why is it an x shape? Maybe I missed it but Adam did a piercing stab. So it should be a small slash mark on her. Not an x mark. Like where did it come from.

If it's from a twist of the blade it would still not have made the x scar.

I figured it healed a bit weird because she didn't stick around long enough to treat it properly.

so what do we think will be the big thing about Summer that gets revealed?
1 - she is alive but imprisoned
2 - Ruby was there when Summer met Salem (and for extra hurt points part of the reason Summer lost)
3 - both?

I mean, people want Ruby to suffer and "think of the consequences of her actions/suffer consequences for her actions"
so learning that she is to blame in some way for Summer no longer being there would probably be the biggest blow of her life and cause her to pump the breaks on her action taking habits, at least until her friends help her pull herself back together.

I don't want it to happen, but until we get answers those thoughts are on the table.

Given she was a toddler blaming her would be dumb, like it legit just has me imagining Yang reading her own mother the riot act for taking a toddler into a dangerous fight, but realistically I just can't see it making any sense.

As to alive but imprisoned... Eh, I feel like RWBY probably puts too much stock in the weight of death (I still want Sienna back though, come on!) for that and there's no reason for Salem to keep her alive.

I feel like Raven had a part in Summer's death. Not that she did the deed herself but she and Summer learned some vital information but Raven was too cowardly to go with Summer to face Salem. So Raven feels even more guilty about the whole situation. I used to think Qrow was there when Summer died but his conversation with Ruby made it sound like he was just as in the dark.

That or she possibly backstabbed her in a way that made her lose to Salem because of her edgelord way of thinking.

Given Raven left before Summer died that feels pretty unlikely.

Given that she had clear communication with Qrow and assuming she was like Ruby I doubt Summer would have let Raven never talk to her again. Its Ravens whole hypocrisy.
Qrow's her brother nd she seeks him out, Raven had already found out enough by this point to have left the war against Salem so there's likely little Summer could discover that she would think could draw Raven back in and if she was willing to work with someone else, why pick one of the lest reliable people she knew, then go ahead without back up?
