RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

I wouldn't even say her arc with Adam is over really. Sure she managed to get over her fear of him and faced him down in a situation where she had all the advantages and didn't really need to fight him for real. That's a very different thing from dealing with a psychotic stalker hunting you down, which is likely what she will face in future volumes. "You are still afraid" and all that, not to mention that Adam's been described as domestic abuser, and the thing about them is that it can often be very dangerous to stand up to them, which I think we will see in future volumes. Basically, Blake's arc with Adam is not over until she and Yang shatters that mask of his and grinds his face into the pavement.

Yea. That was a major resolution with the White Fang, but in most of the series, Adam was busy with his own stuff. They met when their plans collided twice, and while he sent assassins after her, he was more focused on the big picture. Now? She took the big picture from him and pissed him off. She has her own big plans, he doesn't. Shoes on the other foot, we're in the next act of their relationship.

Blake? Having big plans? Surely you jest. Her Ark is done, everything that's been built up to during the past five seasons she has accomplished. There is no further growth for her character. Yeah, they should just axe her. Yes I know it's so unlikely as to be practically impossible but really Blake and her entire plotline with the White Fang has been almost as much of a tumor on the franchise as Jaune. Kill her off, Maybe a simultaneous kill with Adam.

Different topuic, has anyone else noticed that Yang only ever refers to Summer by her name? Not Mom, just Summer, or Ruby's mom. It would be neat if this was actually addressed in the show, like she maybe considers herself somehow inferior, that she doesn't have any right to see Summer as her mom. Note that she also refers to Raven as Mom or her mother, even though Raven doesn't deserve that title at all.

Yeah. Weirder is that she seemingly forgets that she called Summer "Super Mom" and for the most part, she has been her mom throughout her life.

Dude, just because you hate how much of a waste of time this show her screentime in Seasons 4 and 5 have been doesn't mean you should demand her killed off. Technically, Yang's arc has been concluded with the end of Season 5, so you might as well start demanding her killed off. If a character doesn't have any reason to keep existing in the story but you don't want to bus them, then you give them a new thing to do in the story or extend their arc, which with Adam still around, is plausibly cultivatable. This is why I've been in favor of having Adam kill Raven and steal her powers: it merges both Yang and Blake's arcs, gives Adam a post-purchase rationalization for not getting captured, and gives the audience the opportunity to see a katana fight between the two biggest edgelords in the story.

@Delphisage calm your tits and don't let your jimmies be rustled so easily.

A far less charged reply to your aggressive post: you are wrong that Yang's arc is completed. Her primary goal, even more than Raven , is to make sure Ruby is safe. She is also designated Team mom, or at least she was before volume 4 hit and she became angsty and broody all the time. She is also the one most skeptical of Ozpin & Qrow, which easily lends itself to another arc where she is trying to find out the truth what Ozpin is hiding. And it's clear from the stinger in volume 5 that her and Raven aren't quite done with each other.

Every time I read this thread, I feel my ability to love physically wither and corrode.

This is a lot better than one side just bitching ceaselessly about things that don't matter to anyone who isn't either a complete pedant or just trying to find more things to hate about something that started as a charming low-budget show that got big and now comes with way too much hype attached to it that leaves people finding it disappointing and riddled with holes, or just asserting that the show's creators could not possibly make or have made anything good and any legitimately entertaining or intelligent development could only be a fluke, and the other side getting butthurt and personal because the former category continually jumping in to make pests of themselves has created a habit of being extremely defensive and aggressive at the same time because surprise surprise, continually dropping in to say the show's shit and we're shit for liking it just makes people pissed off, defensive and quick to jump down your throat. And then people wonder why RWBY threads keep needing mod intervention.

Compared to all that, this is downright refreshing right now. Just, you know, give it a few minutes before one side or the other decides that this thread has been unlocked for too long and fixes that.

No? 95% of people who criticize the show say nothing about the fans. As much as I've become infamous for disliking this show, I take pains to avoid insulting the viewers.

I'm sure the fact that mods give people free reign to shitalk shows as much as they want while coming down hard on even the slightest bit of personal attacks has nothing to do with that. :eyeroll:

But I have to ask, if you truly mean no offense, then why do you come back? You never have anything positive to say, the only reason you ever participate in a RWBY thread is to talk shit about RWBY, or to talk about fix-fics you have no intention of writing while yelling about how shit RWBY is and how badly you think it needs to be fixed. You clearly hate the show and take no enjoyment from it, so why do you feel the need to keep coming back just to shit on the lawns of people who do enjoy it? Everyone already knows what your opinion on the show is, there is no need to keep repeating it for the 9999th time.

Sure, you're not directly insulting anyone. But its like apples and oranges (or oranges and every other type of fruit or vegetable). You don't like oranges, that's fine. Nobody cares, enjoy your apples or whatever. You like talking about why you don't like oranges, ok fine, everyone has opinions. You like talking about how much you hate and despise oranges and will constantly get into long drawn out arguments with anyone who dares defend their like of oranges. Ok, that's a thing you can do I suppose, but do you really have to? You like to go to Orangecon and pull out your loudspeaker to loudly proclaim that oranges are inferior fruit that should be thrown in the trash, shat on and then burned to ashes. And its at this point that people start wondering what the hell your problem is. At no point did you directly insult people who eat oranges, but you did so implicitly by insulting their sense of taste. And more importantly people just want to eat some damned oranges and you make that really hard when you walk up to their faces and start screaming in their ears about how horrible oranges are every time they try to do so. Why can't you just enjoy your apples and leave the people who like oranges in peace?

There are so many different fruits out there, if oranges are not to your taste then why not go and enjoy some of those instead of hassling people who like the one fruit that you do not enjoy? Surely its better to spend time with people who like the same fruits that you do than it is to constantly seek out arguments with people who like a fruit that you don't?

Plus again RWBY really isn't worth all this drama. Even if you hate RWBY, even if you think it's the worst thing ever made with human hands, it's not even the most popular show on this website. It's a show that collectively maybe a few million people in the entire world even watch. It's produced by a small time company best known for a web comedy using the Halo games and a Let's Play channel that started back when Let's Play was cool. It's not taking up space on a major network, its success doesn't keep other more deserving shows from getting green lit. It did start some sweeping trend in the animation market. Why start all this drama?

No, I was stretching my argument because I'm a pedantic idiot. I don't think Raven's a faunus.

Basically, I'm here because I want to goad people into posting or making fanfics.
There is a thread for fanfiction ideas. This is a thread in the TV, Movies & Anime forum. This is not the thread for that.

You want the thread here:
Lets Get To It! Rwby Ideas/discussion Thread

Put your fic ideas there.

Yeesh, speaking of moderator intervention...

Christ, I just clicked the "next threadtag" button on that mod post, and it led to a Seven-sponsored discussion on how Emerald should die in the most painful and torturous ways possible as some kind of utterly unjustified revenge fantasy for bisecting Penny.

I can see what @StellarSeeker was talking about. Seriously, that is SAO 24 levels of WTF.

Do I even want to know?
Basically the main character of Sword Art Online goes extreme brutal beatdown on a dude because he was putting the moves on his girl (though I use 'putting the moves' in the most under of understatements) and then when said dude tries to knife him IRL, MC just kicks the guy's ass to the point where he had that knife to his throat.

[Discussion] Chibi Season 3, Episode 12: JNPR Dreams
RWBY Chibi:

Qrow is clipping out!

Haha, he's a harpy now and one of the classic style one's XD

I like that Nora is holding a fork while she sleeps and the natural segway from awe to aaahh.

Heh, seems Ren has a crush on Nora in this as well, also Ozpin is absurdly dramatic and yes, naps = good Ren, wise choice.

Those lips freaked me out, glad it was a complimentary, hey we're working together thing though, cute.

"Are you, chanting to yourself?"

OK that fucked me up, its funny and Ozpin went full wizard but also kind creeps me out XD
