RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

I like the intro between the time "RWBY appears the first time" and Yang's scene. The rest is a bit weird but I liked that section.

Also the song & lyrics seem interesting, all talking about how the world isn't really a fairy tale (Blake vindicated!). I look forward to seeing a full transcription.

Punished Cinder, this pleases me
I had thought her dead before. I mean why didn't she finish Ruby off while Ruby was on the top of the tower unconscious if she survived? I want an answer for that one.

Another question is why Yang didn't get a prosthetic arm. Mercury has two prosthetic legs that are indistinguishable in functionality. Ironwood has at least three prosthetic limbs. So why doesn't Yang get a new arm?

Also yeah, weakest intro.

If half her face was blown off that's probably a good reason.

Breakdown of civilization. Unable to get to Atlas or Mistral to find a doctor to perform the specialized implant procedures.

Not to mention how expensive a robot arm rated for combat likely is, I can see Mercury getting his legs since he father was apparently a skilled assassin (those aren't cheap) and he was working for Cinder so that means he could've spent his Father's entire savings in his lets.

I'm definitely hoping Yang gets a robot arm in the long run (preferably before the end of the season) but I can understand her not having one yet.

Not really. If she was fit enough to flee before Qrow arrived she was fit enough to stab an unconscious girl in the face. If she was instead rescued by someone else then why didn't they do it?

That doesn't really seem the case though, from what we've seen in other videos other places seem to just be getting on with their lives. We also know that even Vale didn't fall in general. They gave up retaking Beacon, but they held Vale city.

There's no health insurance for the superwarriors you expect to risk their lives to protect you? Seems unwise. Military usually covers health care costs.

She doesn't have to get a robot arm. Even a normal, or hell, rudimentary prosthetic could help. Even if you can't control it well, at least you can use it to restore the sense of balance in your body, which is important for a fighter. Also, even if it wasn't robotic, Yang could have used Ember Celica controlled with her shoulder to attack. And if she can't, at least it could still be used to strike people and block attacks even if it's much weaker than her flesh arm with Ember Celica. And having more options when fighting is always a good idea.

I can imagine ways of being injured that allows escape but prevents that.

And I'm not going to criticize a villain for lack of competence in a face just got blown off situation in general.

Other places. I'm getting a "Vale held, just barely" vibe. Normal services might not be up and running again.

And international travel certainly isn't or RNJR wouldn't be wasting their time hoofing it. It's entirely possible that the specialists required for that kind of surgery don't live in vale - we have procedures like that in real life.

Heck even if they do, Yang's reputation is run into the dirt right now and she's on Patch which is hardly a metropolis from what we've seen. Not having access to robot limbs, which may be very expensive, and facing travel and issues of hatred and blame make it unsurprising to me that she hasn't gotten one, especially if she's having flashbacks and depression.

I think that bronze coloured cap thing she has on her stump potentially serves the weapon mount purpose.

Off a thousand foot high tower? Like what? If she was so injured she could barely move she wouldn't be getting off the roof of the tower by herself.

This is the most reasonable explanation so far really.
Maybe the Silver eyes explosion blasted Cinder off the top of the tower, she survived the fall but was injured and one of her allies dragged her away. That seems like a good explanation.

I also love the Salem aligned guy with the 1800s style mustache. It's like he realized he was working for the bad guys and decided to be the narmiest bad guy he could. I smell potential Roman replacement.

We saw Amber fly. We saw Amber use her maiden powers when injured. Therefore...

Don't forget we've seen Huntresses survive falls from pretty far up, so it's not unreasonable to say that even without Maiden powers she could have survived.

If she could use her Maiden powers she could have finished Ruby off while Ruby was unconscious. With ease.
Maybe she got sent flying off the tower and was injured enough that she could only slow her descent enough that she merely got injured. Then recognizing that she is in no condition to fight anymore Cinder decided to GTFO before someone strong enough to kill her in her weakened state arrived.

Being able to use her maiden powers to a certain extent does not necessarily mean being able to use her maiden powers to any arbitrary extent she wants.

For that matter being conscious enough to use her powers to get away does not necessarily mean being conscious enough to logically release that the threat is no longer attacking her, unconscious and vulnerable and that she should end that threat right now.
