RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

I'm fine with skin and boobs, my problem is the shape of Ruby's shirt, it's sleeves was cut off from the armpit by design.

But again, it's hidden probably 100% of the time anyway. So I'm just nitpicking.

But yeah, Slayer is actually my favorite Ruby outfit, it has just the right color combination compared to this one.
Remnant does have some interesting fashion choices for its Hunters, XD

Questions I've Already Asked -- Please Ask Them As Well If You Please (the more people who ask the same questions, the more likely they might answer)

Question 1) Was Coco using Special Emergency Ammo at the Breach, and weaker, cheaper stuff afterwards? She couldn't shoot through trees to get Emerald, and those Griffons were smaller than the giant Grimm she gibbed.

Question 2) Does Yang's Semblance create energy based on damage to her body, or does it recycle the Aura she lost to damage since the last time she activated it?

Question 3) Do Ruby's Ice Rounds use Fire Dust for a propellant, with Ice Dust in the bullets? Are Ruby's Gravity Rounds "blanks" (just Gravity Dust, with no propellant or bullet) that generate only a short-range blast and a lot of kickback?

Question 4) Are the four basic types of Dust - Fire, Wind, Water or Ice, Lightning or Earth? How much does Remnant use Earth Dust for construction? Does it create magical concrete or allow the reshaping of existing stone?

Question 5) Are the kingdom Regional Tournaments hosted in the summer when combat school is out? Do combat schools practice combat sports like smaller, local tournaments instead of sports like football? Do graduated adults get together on the weekends for combat sports-games that double as National Guard / militia training exercises? Like paintball but with Aura and real bullets?

Question 6) Is it exceptional to know what your Semblance is before you enter a Hunting Academy?

Question 7) What does Vacuo look like? What, if any, natural defenses does it have?

Question 8) Do Nora's RPGs use Fire Dust for both the propellant and the warhead explosive? Or something else? Do Ren's or Blake's or anyone's bullets use Wind Dust for the propellant, for quieter shots?

Question 9) How does Yang make fire? Semblance, Dust, or an Aura trick like Qrow's and Blake's blade-beams?

Question 10) Does Aura only make weapons more durable and better able to hold an edge, or can hunters make their blades inflict more damage? Can more Aura make Dust ammo work better?

Question 11) Even though Grimm all work together, are they usually encountered in groups of only one kind because they're all impatient and move at different speeds? So ursa travel with ursa because the beowolves left them far behind?

Question 12) Are there smaller deathstalkers and king taijitus, or are they all at least that big?

Question 13) If Ice Dust creates Ice, is there a Metal Dust that creates a special kind of metal hunters use to forge weapons and armor?

Pardon me, but Sunder, you're coming across as an... ah, 'anal-retentive fanfic writer' with all those questions and the way you asked them. Might want to lower the number of the questions a bit and focus more on fundamental elements of the world/story. Like, I don't know, how is healthcare in Remnant or how rare mind-based semblances are...

Besides, I kind of prefer those specific stuffs to remain unanswered to give freedom for anyone to make up their own versions without "going against Word of God".

To be fair these are kind of relevent to the world building.

Mind based semblences like Emeralds being rare might explain why no one believed Yang after her fight with Mercury after all if they are so rare what are the chances that someone was there in the stadium using it on Yang.

As for healthcare queations well why else has Yang not gotten a replacement for her lost arm if they are not covered by any known healthcare program in Vale after all Mercury did say his prosthetics were quite expensive.

I know there was a list of questions someone made over on SB. I don't know how many of these have already been answered either by the show or someone who works on it, or if they are still relevant post V3.
A lot of questions said:
1) Do kingdoms supply electricity to whole cities from central power-plants, or does everyone (household or business) fuel their appliances, air conditioners, and water heaters with their own supplies of Dust?

2) Do whole rocks of Dust expend all of their power/mass all at once for a greater effect than Dust-sand, whereas Dust-sand can be spent in smaller, controlled amounts?

3) Has Remnant discovered gunpowder, or are bullet-propellants made solely with Dust?

4) Is there a type of Dust that can be used to heal injuries?

5) Are the doctors of Remnant trained to use their Auras and Dust to heal people? Can such dedicated physicians develop healing Semblances?

6) Are some Semblances just better than others? Pyrrha can affect metal, but Glynda can affect ANYTHING – does Glynda trade that versatility off for weaker control, slower response, or a greater cost?

7) What classes do Taiyang and Qrow and Professor Peach teach at Signal and Beacon, respectively?

8) Is "hunter" or "huntsman" the gender-neutral term?

9) Can anyone awaken their Aura on their own, or does someone always need to unlock it for them?

10) At what age do children normally awaken their Auras or have them unlocked? During combat school, or is it earlier for children of professional hunters?

11) At what age or school year do combat school students tend to discover their Semblances?

12) Does Nora absorb electricity automatically, or does she need to actively make it happen?

13) Can/did Nora channel her electrical charge into her ammunition?

14) When Blake blurs away after creating a clone, is she moving at her normal ninja-speed or is her Semblance helping her move faster for that one burst?

15) Does Schnee time dilation require Dust?

16) Do combat school students have to pay for their own weapon parts and ammunition?

17) Do hunting academy students have to pay for their education, or is it all tax-funded?

18) Can you flunk out of a hunting academy, or be held back a year?

19) What does a team do if one member is held back a year? Or dies, flunks out, or gets expelled?

20) Do 3rd and 4th year hunting students spend a lot or even most of the year off-campus shadowing professional hunters?

21) Is Fox Alistar blind?

22) How old is Winter Schnee?

23) Does the kingdom of Vacuo extend up from the point on the map all the way to its Northern coast, like Vale extends to its Western coast?

24) Can hunters put more or less Aura into their bullets? Coco ripped apart some really tough Grimm, but not the trees she shot when missing Emerald, and only Emerald's first shot from surprise seemed to glow. May Zedong's shot at Nora also glowed whereas others didn't.

25) Are there salt-water Grimm? Fresh-water?

26) Are there any known human settlements on the continents which don't have kingdoms, such as Menagerie?

27) Did the Faunus Rights Revolution happen after the Great War? How long after?

28) Can the four basic elements of Dust be found anywhere in Remnant?

29) Do Grimm ever "mysteriously appear / spawn" inside human territory, or do they all approach from the wilderness where humanity can't see?

30) Do certain Grimm ever reach a maximum size and stop growing bigger, only bonier?

YANG SEMBLANCE Questions

1) Does Yang gain strength from damage to her body, or does she merely recycle the Aura energy lost from taking hits? Both? Or rather than damage, is she absorbing the kinetic energy of strikes, as some fans are suggesting?

2) Does Yang's "red eye" mode increase the power of her Dust shell blasts and the fires she generates from her Aura?

3) Yang's hair never shines immediately upon being hit; does she have to consciously create her Super Energy, or is it an automatic reaction?

4) Can Yang use her Semblance's super-strength for bursts of "leg strength" speed, like she seemed to do to surprise the Malachite Sisters and Junior in her trailer?

5) Are there times outside of the Yellow Trailer and Painting the Town that Yang's hair should have glowed brightly, but it wasn't worth animating? Like her fight with Mercury?

I know there was a list of questions someone made over on SB. I don't know how many of these have already been answered either by the show or someone who works on it, or if they are still relevant post V3.
Yeah, that's my list.

Most of the questions don't seem as important any more, now that Beacon has been sacked.

Others were sort of answered -- for example, someone pointed out that a centralized power-grid would make more sense than every building have its own Dust-fueled generator, since Vale has public lamp-posts and highway force-field walls.

As for healthcare queations well why else has Yang not gotten a replacement for her lost arm if they are not covered by any known healthcare program in Vale after all Mercury did say his prosthetics were quite expensive.
Probably because Vale was wrecked, and what medical supplies they are able to get are going to those who need them to live. The city is probably also sucking up supplies from outlying communities like Patch, or supplies that would have gone to said communities to keep itself going.

I'm hoping Yang learns to pull a Gon, where she manages to use her right upper arm to fight. Somehow.
You sure you didn't mean a Hisoka? (Still on Episode 117 at HxH) Although I would say that pulling a Joseph would be more fitting for her character (even if he's not a thinker like Joseph and is a hardworker).

[Discussion] Chibi Season 1, Episode 22
RWBY Chibi
Poor Ren, Nora hahaha! Pyrrha got skills with that spoon spinning.

Compost king? Intriguing.

Chibi skeleton!

Weiss's Glyph haxx!

Yang rules, Blake is so chill, they are all chill, except for Roman, he has no chill to do with lava floors.

They killed Roman! Again!

That's not spoiling?
117 is already into the Chimera Arc, specifically the point Youpi exploded. And I already know that something terrible happen with Gon later on, so it's okay. But this is getting off-topic, so let's stop there (Well, that was why I didn't reply initially).

A shame that they didn't include the Winter reaction in the Letter to Winter segment, and changed the inspector in the Cinder Who? segment from Glynda to Sun and Neptune.

I love how different Mercury and Emerald's interactions here, though. They give me... ideas.

So, genuine question, what are you hoping/expecting for a theme song this volume?

Me personally, Ruby framed against rose petals and the Grimm infested wilds ready to fight, JNPR fading in as they charge through a forest/swap/ETC, quickly fading to a city were SSSN join them, with Cinder & co, plus Pyrrha and Penny's shadows lining the backgrounds.

Then cut to Weiss alone in an elegant looking room which fades away to reveal an isolating pedestal, her fathers shadow looms over her from behind, his shadow all consuming, Winter is on another but off on an angle to show she doesn't loom so oppressively, with people like FNKY, Ciel, ETC all fading up on their own at different levels to reflect how she's familiar with them before she conjures a Glyph and pulls up her blade.

Blake, isolated, running through the forest and battling White Fang, but what's this, she's wearing a stylised mask, but she's fighting White Fang and being joined by others in a flaming White Fang encampment, there's probably a moment of introspection showing her face as she looks sadly at a picture of her team before pulling it back down and returning to battle.

Finally Yang, starting off slow, looming figures in the distant ranging from Tai, to Rose, to Ruby, to Raven and even Adam and Blake, as her flame slowly grows, her outfit changes in an explosion of fire and she's seen with ABRN... What? I can dream!

The screen splits into four to show each member of RWBY and their support cast moving towards something, but all at different paces.

Addition, also Sunder I did ask some of your questions, not sure if it will help, but I tried.
