RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Well then, on the bright side....

Things would be a hell of a lot worse if there wasn't an army already parked inside the city in addition to whatever forces the (still not actually) Kingdom of Vale has?

I would agree except Atlas likes its robots and after that last stunt Roman is in control of the last airship and if the robots are controlled through the airships that may mean Roman is now in control.

There is still Meatbags on the ground as the Dance showed us but how many and where they are placed is in question.

So no clue how effective the remains of the Atlas army will be.

I think there's more airships than just Roman's left given the numbers seen, though he may have one of the bigger badder, better ones over all and he's still done some serious damage to their chances of forming a cohesive defence. Add in possible Cinder shenanigans and yeah, the robot army could become a problem.

Assuming the army hasn't been entirely subverted (which would be cliche but I totally expect), then Ironwood would be able to override any command Roman might be able to give.

....Well then, so now I'm imagining a major segment involving a team or several teams of Huntsmen escorting Ironwood to the CCTS Tower in order to bypass the airships and get the robot army under control again. I guess we'll see if it happens.

I just went looking the wiki mentions only 3
Atlesian Airship

That isnt farfetched at all though it actually makes total military sense. You want your High tech lethal killing machines to not be open to easy command overrides in case those codes get out. Most Missile bases outside of a select few off site consoles can only be controlled through the control room.

With the CTT currently under Cinder's control and the 2 other airships that would act as the normal outside console controls Ironwood may be locked out of the system since he has no access to things that can even issue command over rides.

Mind you Roman may not be able to control the robots either if they need command codes which as far as we know he lacks.

Just going from memory I think I saw more in the background but I could be wrong.

That makes a good deal of sense.

Honestly I wouldn't be shocked if Cinder took over the robots or even just shut them down but it wouldn't bother me, just because the villain taking over the robots has been done before doesn't make it bad in my books, and if her virus or patch or whatever she did when the CTT was down and out is good enough to stay hidden and take over the Stadium at least a bit I'd feel it had been set up enough.

You are probably thinking of these which are drop ships and not the carriers.
Blue 2 3 and 4 are the biggest Airships Atlas brought and Roman happened to them.
No clue what is up with Blue 1 though.

Ah that looks right, so their small airship forces still seems pretty functional and Ironwood's own flagship may be functioning, for now, but yeah it seems the majority of the large airships are gone, ouch.
The wiki only mentions the first episode of Volume 2. There are more:

At least seven Atlesian airships are guarding Amity Colosseum. There's also the fact that we only heard from Blue 2, 3, and 4, implying there's a Blue 1 we haven't seen.
I thought I saw those! XD

Though given where the Roman ship is I get the impression he's just opened up another attack point for the Grim.

Nice find I was looking to see if such an image was around.

So Roman is going to be in hot water with at least 4 other airships now aware of him so that means Sky pirating :D

Either that, or it means boarding operations once the guns have been taken out on Roman's ship. Time to see how special Atlesian specialists actually are.

They had Giant Nevermores pecking at their hulls. They may have simply been overwhelmed by the Grim. Or at least are fighting for their lives. More so when three of their cohort just went dark all at once which is bound to rip their defensive strategy a new one.

Also, I'm going to second : While I no longer think that cinder can hijack the robots I expect that what she can do is fuck with their ability to be activated and deployed. Not to mention a large fraction of the Knights probably went down with their carrier.

Anyone else find it funny that Roman was suppose to be a episode 1 bit character and yet so far he has racked up the highest body count?

He's honestly far more fun than our main villain*. As Triage goes keeping him on was a good move.

* I don't hate Cinder the way other people do I just think she falls completely flat. Same goes for Emerald. Mercury 'I have robot gun legs' Black is the only one of the three who really stands out much.

Hes just so much fun. He is an A-hole knows it and doesnt care.
Add in Neo who is by FAR the most sassy attitude girl I have ever seen all without saying a single word and you have a pair you just love to watch.

With Cinder I am hoping they make her a Long term Villain with right now she has everything going more or less to plan but when the crap hits the fan and her plan breaks apart under team JNPR and RWBY's efforts, come on jaune KISS Pyrrha already, she loses it and we get to see more then just smug seductive snake.
I see a lot of potential in her and I am hoping the reason why they arent using it is because she is a long term plan so it needs to be dolled out slowly.

He's an asshole. Knows it. And wears it with pride. You mean. :p

Actually, screw it, I would have gladly paused the plot for the flashback episode to have been about him and Neo. It would have been fun. No sappy back stories, no histories of abuse, the two just love destroying shit.

They will most likely do that later I am kind of hoping Roman is a failed hunter he tried to be one but kept getting yanked into darkness and was like screw it thieving for everyone!
I would also Laugh if Neo has no dark mysterious past she just does it for fun.

Also here hoping for a team up between team Fashion and RWBY later

Roman Torchwick: The villain we need, not the villain we deserve.

True, although I think Cinder probably doesn't expect him to. If anything I expect him to fight on the stadium next or Beacon before fleeing as the ship takes damage.
He just needs to fire on the city, and make it obvious that an Atlesian airship is destroying the city.
It seems like Cinder wants to fracture the unity of the kingdoms, as one of her goals.

Yes, because the other Atlesian airships getting shot down wouldn't make it obvious that something has gone horribly wrong, and obviously Atlas is responsible for the atrocities currently being perpetuated, not enemy infiltrators.

Besides, has there been any evidence thus far that the civilian population of Vale has been mistreated by the Atlesian Army (I'm generally curious) Stuff like that is what tends to alienate people, especially after Atlas helped seal the Breach and capture Roman in the first place.
