RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

1. Fame won't do jack to help under law, and she's within the age to be tried. She would be arrested.
2. No, I'm pretty sure he was being literal.
Also, sense Penny has an Aura, and therefore a soul, would she be seen as a living person/human being?
Look, Pyrrha may die, but it won't be via execution by a firing squad.

Ozpin would never allow it. Ironwood would never allow it. Rooster Teeth would never allow it. Period.

I honestly think that if Pyrrha is going to die it will be a character death as her personality and Amber's merge into something completely different.

A civilian from a foreign nation.
That just destroyed a rather expensive piece of equipment.
In a tournament meant for fair sport and competition, not fights to the death.
That is EASILY grounds for arrest.
Except No to all of that

First a Civilian in her OWN home nation while the piece of hardware AKA Penny is a GUEST
Key difference there.
Second Penny going Berserk is a key point.
Normally Pyrrha wouldnt go that far and I seriously doubt Penny would force that issue but as we know cinder isnt playing fair.
Third an Expensive piece of equipment put into a combat situation against people who are TRAINED to fight inhuman monsters
Penny is a powerhouse no question but she is also a prototype and one that its clear rather sheltered so being able to match up may not be in her abilities normally

You arent making a good case because you keep slamming into several issues.
1. Combat tournament
Damage is expected possibly even fatal amounts despite best efforts to prevent that
2. Penny is a machine entered into a Flesh and Blood tournament
Ironwood would have to be VERY careful about the situation because of backlash
3. Penny going Berserk on National TV
This isnt Penny normally this is an out of control penny doing massive damage to the area
4. Pyrrha would be defending the public
If Penny goes nuts Pyrrha would be stopping her which means she would be defending the people in the audience
5. Pyrrha is a Vale Native Penny is from Atlas
Penny going berserk is a International incident even without the robot thing
6. Pyrrha does not know the value of Penny
This is important because she CANT make a judgement call weighed properly because she is lacking info Atlas is intentionally keeping dark.
7. Pyrrha is not military and is not beholden to a foregin military
You keep acting like Pyrrha is being held to military rules when Atlas is an Unique thing and one HEAVILY frowned upon.
8. All of this would be on National TV
Ironwood would have to explain WHY the Huntress who saved the audience is being carted away for stopping the dangerous robot again serious backlash
9. The security after Yang
After Yang things would be ramped up and if Pyrrha was STILL forced to Destroy Penny when the security cant stop her the grounds for her arrest because heavily shaky
10. Ironwood is a reasonable man
While I do agree Ironwood has a temper he has been shown to be able to keep it mostly in check. He lashed out at Qrow in private, he talked to Yang reasonably and in private, he did not accuse Ruby he listened to HER side of the story before making a call.

You keep acting like Hunters are beholden to Military power DESPITE the fact the Show has flat out told us Atlas is actually not normally and a LOT of people are not happy with them and Hunters are generally free spirits. You also havent explained why a Foreign power can cart away and kill a student who was defending herself from a berserk robot that was MADE by said Foreign military power.

You are arguing that if a Canadian soldier broke a US Tank that was out of control on Canadian soil that soldier should be tried and shot.
Because that is more or less the situation here and now.

That's.....familiar.
Like, I have heard of that kind of occurrence in some form of media.

I...
Don't have the energy to type a reply to this.
So let's just wait to see what happens.
Personally? I think they'll just arrest her, or, send in some kind of containment team if they even realize she's gone berserk (Cinder might fuck with other shit that effects monitoring. So, they may not even know she was going nuts, rendering your entire argument void.)

Looks at Penny's track record

Looks back

They would know.

Penny has shown that when she tries she can LITERALLY cut planes apart and pull them down. If she used even half of that against Pyrrha it would be VERY clear she is out of control.
Also Penny has personality if she went nuts that would show very quickly and easily.

Hang on a sec, what happened at the end of Yang v. Mercury?
Didn't the platform lower and seal up?
Couldn't Cinder do that at some point to hide the fact that Penny was out of control, and just mess with the cameras? Seems like an easy thing to do.

no.....?
Hold on
Huh 13:30 ruby says for yang to break a leg roosterteeth......
Okay the answer is no

The stage center piece lifts up to a couple feet off the ground and a ring of lights lift up to the rafters.
The stage going down was just to actual ground level.

That said the stage does have the ability to reshape itself with land rising up for element advantage, if its the same stage shown earlier which I think it is, but that doesnt seem like its on for the 1 on 1 finals since Yang and Mercury didnt have it in their fight.

Any reshaping of the stage would be a BIG clue something is wrong

But Jaune will save her!

With the power of love?

Maybe.

Don't know.

I'd probably be even more annoyed with him if he pulled it off.

I'll also be more annoyed with him if he fails.

Eh, whatever.
Just gonna have to wait and see.

Another thought.

We don't know what Velvet's weapon is yet. She likes photography but sucks at it artistically because she tends to aim at the center of mass . . . She may have weaponized a camera.

Technichally I'm pretty sure Pyrrha is from Mistral.

I assume Junior is still running his club though probably with a note from Cinder or Roman or someone bigger and stronger than him that he should not mess about in crime stuff until he gets permission.

She captures people's Souls! Ooh or maybe summons copies of people or weapons... Hm if that is the case then that makes three of five Faunus with projected people/objects as Semblances.
