RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

A thought I just had about Penny: what if she wasn't just a highly-sophisticated AI/robot? What if she was based on an actual human being, whose personality was grafted into her AI programming? It does continue the Pinocchio theme she has: a pseudo-human 'soul' that lacks a human body.

Though that does beg the question then: if she is based off a real girl's mind, then what about the original girl herself? Was Penny constructed as an experimental prototype for pseudo-resurrection?

I just had a thought...

Sun and Neptune are on the same team, right?
Sun is pining for Blake, and Neptune is pining for Weiss.

Once is happenstance. Twice is a coincidence. Three times, however, is a pattern, and although the series hasn't gotten to that point yet or made any obvious attempts at showing an actual relationship blooming (except for Arkos, maybe), I can't helping feeling a little curious how this theory would play out.

But.... Our Ships....

*Ahem*

More seriously, I doubt it because to pair every member of one team with another is kind of boring, and has been done enough times to make me tired of it.

I'm just still freaking waiting for Velvet's team to get some goddamn screentime.

Can I just say a @$%&ing loved Neptune in this episode.

The way Ruby was pushing him around (In the literal sense) and how he just goes along with it made me laugh almost as much as his introduction. Pairing him with Sun is pretty perfect. Wonder how his interactions with Yang will go.

Personally, I liked the callback to when Ruby and Weiss became partners.

And the scene where Weiss was practicing her smile- heck, the entire scene where she's placing that call is heartbreaking for the implications.

No, no, other way around. Weiss is pining for Neptune.

Unless I missed something in the episode, which I freely admit is a possibility.

what is yang wearing? Is that a really short skirt... or short shorts with suspenders? I am baffled by it...

Mondaiji, for those wondering what the reference is. I prefer Interrobang's translation:

Izayoi: Hey! Just before I could see, your skirt blocked my view! What the hell's going on?!
Kurousagi: That's what's got you so worked up? Shiroyasha-sama took that into consideration and gave this miniskirt a preventative Gift, so I can never quite be exposed.

Also, in the next episode:

Mondaiji Episode 8 said:
Izayoi: Hey, Shiroyasha, why the hell'd you put that defensive charm on Black Rabbit's miniskirt? This constant soft core porn is getting old.
Shiroyasha: I am disappointed that a man like you is unable to appreciate such art.
Izayoi: What?
Shiroyasha: True art is shaped by one's imagination of the unknown... By one's desire to grasp the mysterious... Indeed! True art lies... within your own universe!
Izayoi: My own... universe?
Shiroyasha: The underside of a maiden's skirt is no different. Shamelessly exposed lingerie is merely lewdness, but, out of sight, it becomes true art.
Izayoi: Out of sight... It is art!
Shiroyasha: Let us savor with our eyes... the wonders of this world.
Izayoi: Shiroyasha...

EDIT: Ah, here's the video, though it's not the translation I favored:
