RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

...That said, this plot needs to die in the firiest fire ever, it drags so much.

Personally I wonder if it wouldn't have worked better by being more subtle, conveying Jaun's infatuation with Weiss and Pyrra's frustration through body language in scenes where something else (anything else) is going on, with the bare minimum of time directly dedicated to it.

Sure it would still be cliche and pretty cringey, but if it's not being smashed in the face of the viewers over and over again then it's at least a little more understandable why the characters aren't figuring it out.

Edit : Also y'know, making Weiss slightly less bitchy to Jaun and more calmly aloof in regards to Jaun himself. By all rights the average neckbeard should be getting the message in Jaun's place.

No, you know what Jaune, hold this punch! *inna nerts*

Srsly tho, could we cut the J and get some more Yang? There's only so much fail train I can take.

And FINALLY the Jaune in a dress payoff. I am so glad that plot's over for now.

That said, Monty really couldn't animate dancing well. Too fast, too jerky. I laughed at Penny and her guard doing the robot tho.

Didn't he use a Mocap suit for the dancing?

And yeah, I expect anything done by Monty (or I suppose now in his style :() will suffer from this weakness. Slowed down his stuff usually looks like two action figures being smashed together in pretend fight on the school playground.

Not a criticism, traditional animation may have outright bizarre intermediate frames in order to create smooth sequential transitions, but it does show when the usual aids of speed, particle effects, and strategic viewing angle aren't in full effect.

I've decided that this guy's name is Doctor Coffee.

Oooooh, the prospect of urban combat!

By the by, I really, desperately want to like Weiss, but Jesus fuck whoever was writing this just keeps going to her to introduce their conflict via her being a bitch, while Yang just kind of rots on the vine.
Welcome to my hell. Meanwhile, aforementioned irritating blond fraud gets episode after episode.

RWBY has some good parts, but the pacing really isn't one of them, at least this early. At least it looks like Weiss and Yang might get some plot time in Season 3.

You know what's amazing, Really liking Jaune, because it means I didn't experience what's considered the worst parts of the show.

So Doctor Coffee's cup turns into a club and Ruby is useless without her scythe. K.

And it looks like it's time for a traiiiiinnnnnnn fiiiiigggght~

H-ello, what's all this mysterious wordless lady stuff?

Well, Pyrrha did say that animals did have aura. Still, the fact that Zwei just knows exactly what to do does kind of come out nowhere. Though that might come from the fact that's he's Ruby and Yang's dog.

That said, Monty really couldn't animate dancing well. Too fast, too jerky. I laughed at Penny and her guard doing the robot tho.

He also made a video of everyone else doing the dance. Even the Grimm.

Well we've got some nice mass action going, Jaune isn't totally useless, and a new team of cool dudes we've barely been introduced to! Yay!

Man, Glinda just has absolutely magical maid powers, doesn't she?

EDIT: ohshitBlake'sboyfriendisback

Huh. I don't know if the stinger is a dream sequence or whatever, or if Yang's mom really does just look exactly like her but with black hair.

...Wait, Monkey's name is actually Sun Wukong? Augh!

The revelation shortly afterwards explains a lot. Does beg the question of J as a master criminal and whether Ozzy was really fooled, though.

Considering how things start with the whole "You will be employing your own landing strategies" thing, I'm pretty sure that Ozpin's thoughts on the matter are that Jaune would either git gud or git ded.

Either way, the problem takes care of itself.

You know, I think everyone has had that exact same reaction to the Zwei canon ball.

You know, it's funny, but I don't actually particularly dislike Jaune as a character.

It's just that he's:

A: a vehicle for the worst fucking plots
and
B: Shoved into way more screen time than a character who's ostensibly part of the main cast

And that keeps annoying me. I actually enjoy the scenes he's in when the focus isn't on him.

That is why this fandom has gone crazy with head cano, we never get enough of the parts and characters we love. There are tons of comics set kind of off screen and Monty really encouraged fans found so.

Okay I've gotta ask, what did the dog do to make you hate him so?
1) I'm a Blake person
2) It breaks the atmosphere of many dramatic scenes
3) It's badly animated (like, worse than the rest)
3b) I feel like since it's introduced, the animation quality gets worse
4) It adds nothing
5) I'm a Blake person
