RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Yeah, I have problems with After the Fall and Before the Dawn, but character writing isn't one of them.

...Well, aside from Sage still being given nothing to do and no opportunities to show who he is, but that's a problem regarding the plot, which is one of the areas I nitpick.

My bigger complaint is that people talk like Vacuo never found any more Dust deposits after their occupation ended and before the Great War, when not only do we know that isn't true, it's contradicted by the presence of a Mistral Dust refinery in Vacuo City that predates the Great War.

It could be very possible that Vacuo City's Dust industry has turned into the local Rust belt because the mines closest to the city have dried up, but no one talks like this is a recent, post-war thing.

I now have the fables book in hand and on the earlier topic of Dark
Ya I still don't think he was responsible for the faunus creation

I doubt RWBY will get canned, but we shouldn't take its success at base value in saying that RT is immune to any sudden shifts in the corporate dynamic.
Perhaps, but most of the evidence people use for this are either positive shifts in the management (getting people who allowed abuse out of positions of power) or are unrelated to WB (Joel getting shitcanned for being a lunatic/Bernie moving out of Austin and not being able to do his job).

The thing about Corporate Dynamics is that RT getting fucked over could have zip all to do with RT, and instead be because a different branch of the company fucked up and lost a bunch of money.

I kinda get where they're coming from. Those were founding members that had left RT and there is the fear that the new management will ruin RT.

It's okay to have those concerns. But it seems like every time RT throws themselves under the knife in some way, shape, or form, people scream "DEATHKNELL! DEATHKNELL!"

True but given how profitable RT is compared to its cost there's little chance they're on the coping block. Compare them to like DC's comic division in terms of cost/profit margins and RT likely wouldn't even attract notice if it came time to start shutting some doors.

The thing I don't get is that the people who seem most concerned about this are not people who like the product RT puts out now anyway. So what do they care? It's not like if the doors close it's suddenly going to poof all those classic RvB episodes into nothing. Beyond that RT wasn't exactly a well-run organization that was a dream job. Like even inside the "inner circle" of core public-facing personalities it was a pretty miserable job most of the time. It just seemed cool because they didn't talk about it publicly.

Yeah he specifically spelled out he finds people using his brothers name as a justification for attacks upsetting and that he thinks just saying "X has gone to shit" is bad criticism, then went and highlighted some actually worthwhile critique and noted his own (He wants more White rose, romantic or platonic) So frankly blocking assholes who constantly throw his brothers name around and act like jerks is entirely reasonable, the fact Hero Hei is harassing him over it is just another reminder he's a garbage person.
