RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Lyrics to the opening are out
it used to feel like a fairy tale
now it seems we were just pretending
we'd fix our world
then on our way to a happy ending

then it turned out life
was far less like a bedtime story
than a tragedy
with no big reveal of the hero's glory

and it seems we weren't prepared
for a game that wasn't fair

do we just go home?
can we follow through?
when all hope is gone
there is one thing we can do

let's just live
day by day and not be conquered by our sorrows
the past can't hold us down
we must break free
inside we're torn apart
but time will mend out hearts
move onward not there yet
so let's just live

I love how the RWBY openings progressively shows the growth of the series itself. "This Will Be The Day": Optimistic, dare to fight "Time to Say Goodbye": Questioning what you're doing while moving forward "When it Falls": Pessimistic, everything goes wrong "Let's Just Live: Acknowledging and accepting the unfairness of life and choosing to move forward. I love this series. Thank you for the upload.

Cinder is our character development villain. She's a Sasuke/Naruto combination in my eyes and either shell outwit whatever plan Salem actually has planned for her and become the final boss for a climactic show down or she dies after getting her super tragic back story revealed and that will give ruby the big push to merc Salem. Also I'm betting Cinder has a horrendous back story if she's based of Cinderella. Child abuse is go!

Remember we haven't heard the entire song yet, and the opening is always more optimistic then the second half!

So does anyone else think Torchwick might have Pacific Rim'd his way out of the grimm that supposedly ate him? He was swallowed whole with his weapon.
"Aha!" Roman Torchwick shouted victoriously as he burst out of the Grimm's stomach... into the burning, exploding inferno of the warship the Grimm had embedded itself into.

Yeah, he dead.

Until they shove a Roman Torchwick plushie up a turkey's cavity and have Gray personally pour gasoline over it and then light it himself as giant bold text in garish colors flash "ROMAN TORCHWICK IS DEAD." the fandom will never accept his death!

Maybe being surrounded by grimm-meat protected him from the crash.

Look, we understand that you're in denial Neo, but this isn't healthy. You need to find some new suave, handsome, witty, and handsome devil to pin your affections on. And also to channel your psychotic impulses to murder everyone around you with a broken spoon.

I quit watching when penny got cut to pieces. Does she get put back together? Does it get cheerful again like it was in the first couple seasons?

No idea on Penny and no it isn't as cheerful as the first season yet if the opening is anything to go by it might get back there but at the moment...................
That's a shame. Penny getting killed and yang getting framed back to back was just too dark for me to keep going. I really enjoyed it up till those episodes too. :(

Just wait until Pyrrha gets killed and Jaune loots (what's left of) her corpse for her armor. :V

Welp. I'm definitely not going back to watch it after reading that. that's like someone took the characters and wrote a darkfic or something.

so yes, it will start to get more cheerful, as they begin to work past what they went through

I made it sound worse than it was on purpose. The armor thing was actually an insanely feels-inducing moment of V4e1, the kind that makes you want to cry, but in a good way.

So I am pretty positive Pyrrha is coming back.
The whole thing with her has been an emotional non-event the bit with Jaune's weapons is the most emotion on the subject we have seen which is frankly really odd for a character death where for so much of the series characters were the drive of the story.
Then there is Chibi were they clearly had her and used her keeping her in the audiences mind and not using any of the obvious death gags they could have used not even Cinder going wait didnt I kill you and Nora going nope nothing bad happens EVER.
The way they have been handling her has been really odd and makes me think they want us to keep her in mind hence not really closing the book or giving emotional outlets for her death.

Dude, she's dead. Ashes scattered to the wind.

Who here wants to see Juane use his new gear to finish off Cinder as a way for Pyrrha to get her revenge/finish what she started through Juane?.

I don't. I wouldn't mind Cinder being taken out by Ruby, Weiss, or someone with actual skills. However, it would honestly be stupid to be taken out by Jaune of all people. Jaune's main point is not only is he inexperienced as a Hunter, but he's a sub-par (this is being generous) fighter. A few months isn't going to change anything for him to catch up to Cinder of all things. The only reason he'd maybe even stand a chance against Cinder is if she's still in terribly wrecked condition.

No that is what you THINK happened not what is stated to happen. Notice with Pyrrha its all Mums the word on her fate? Her va on the tweets even went back on it with Chibi.
Several animes have toyed with the idea of seeing an on-screen death only for it to turn out differently. And just because the event was violent looking doesnt mean it is as Kingslgaive teleporting looks violent has bodies breaking apart reforming and even sizzling noises to boot.

Its a fantasy world with real magic so what we see may not in fact be what is happening.

Although I could totally see Emerald using her appearance to fuck with Jaune.
Yeah I can too honestly.

I just think when a series has so clearly been keeping things so close to its vest, IE Salem who was the seventh character designed, and has now introduced actual magic played around with the idea of Souls and has now introduced possessing Giest into the mix we shouldnt go what we see is 100% what is going on especially when its a super flashy kill from a character who tends to go for simple kills.
And considering Faking Death both by the person and another person doing it to you is a thing it seems odd to just go yep she is dead no question.

It's more believable that Penny will be resurrected (y'know, robot) and more useful if Ozpin winds up alive despite Salem's claims.

You could probably get both of those without straining the narrative as much as you'd need to bring Pyrra back from the grave.

Oh wow. You are really in denial. She's dead. She got shot in the chest, was getting burned from the inside, and then Cinder basically cremated her in front of Ruby. There is no reason whatsoever for Cinder to fake her death. There is no reason for Cinder to not kill her.

Her voice actress outright said that when she was cast, she knew that Pyrrha was going to die. Her voice actress returning for RWBY Chibi means absolutely nothing, as RWBY Chibi isn't canon.

And no, just because there is actual magic in RWBY doesn't mean it's possible for her to be uncremated and come back from the dead. There's a difference between manipulating the elements and outright resurrection of the dead. The fact that you used "magic exists" for your argument just shows how much you're grasping at straws.
