RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

It was awesome, wasn't it? Jaune, I you have integrity, though I do question your sanity. Seven sisters after all.
Meanwhile Ruby got to dance with her one true love, Crescent Love. Daaaw. <3

And Ren is apparently even more dense than Jaune, truly an impressive feat. Seriously Ren you didn't notice that Phyrra had the hots for tall blond and scraggly since day one?

Bit disappointing that we didn't get to hear Weiss sing though. :(

Also Penny doing the robot dance is so adorable. And its kind of cute how her bodyguards get caught up in the mood. :)

Sponsors have the episode already, and it looks like Chapters 5-7 will be the trough of the season, tension-wise. From here on out, it's probably going to be all conflict building.

Incidentally, while Monty's renowned for his fight sequences, there's one other thing he's famous for...

This is the best episode ever :D.

Cinder's fighting style was a lot more physical than I expected. Also shapeshifting weapons (as opposed to multiple modes weapons) yaaay!

Yeah, Cinder is appearing a lot more Magical than the rest of the cast, save perhaps Weiss or Glynda, and it stands out. No one so far has gone off what we've thought of as standard for the setting as Cinder.

To be fair, a great deal of it seems to be Dust related, since her clothes glow whenever she does something blatantly magical, like summoning her weapons. If we also assume she has a fire Semblance, that explains the majority of her powers.

We've seen transforming weapons before, but what her gear did was completely new, or perhaps old if my theories are on the right track, Cinder just proved that she was well deserving of her antagonist status. I've never seen Ruby so pressed before, though the heels might not have helped.

The Episode's now out for non-supporting members, and is about to be out for everyone else, but I'll still use tags to be nice.
I'm going to be honest, I wasn't expecting Jaune to man up like that. Go him.

Also, I laughed the moment I saw the Rocket locker incoming. I remember someone previously suggesting that they had to be triggered remotely if they were to be of any use, and it was nice to see that confirmed.

Great episode, lots of laughs, and yeah, we'll probably see the tension ramp up quickly.

Some thoughts. Jaune's surprisingly muscular under his clothes, more so than Ren, at least.

I'm betting the program Cinder uploaded is a Trojan or some variety of backdoor into the communications network.

Also, Daft Punk cameo at around 13:00 at the DJ station in the background. Look closely at the backgrounds as the soldiers burst into the dance hall.

I don't care what anyone else thinks. Jaune, you did good tonight.

. . . not perfect, but good. ;)

You know, Pyrrha and Jaune REALLY need to take their own advice. I also can't unsee Jaune in his....getup.

Did anyone notice Monty's editing mistake in regards to Cinder and her mask? In certain shots the mask comes off and then reappears again.

As for Cinder's powers, a friend speculates that she might have an ability like Ex-Quipping from Fairy Tail (basically Summon Weapon X).

Isn't it really advanced instant modification? It seems she has some small things that change into badass swords or a bow, and it would work with her tale.

Very ironic, considering Sun's VA recently got cast as the dub voice of Sting for Fairy Tail.

Also, now Monty's Jaune rig testing suddenly makes sense.
robopanda threw 1 6-faced dice. Total: 3
3 3

Nah, there will be trials and tribulations of all sorts.

One of which will be Jaune's seven sisters turning up at Beacon to see their baby brother's little girlfriend/see if Jaune's gotten any better at the whole fighting thing/telling Pyrrha all the stories they know about Jaune.

Cue Jaune curling up into a ball and whimpering.
