RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

I meant her powers. At one point, it looks like its giving her the magitech version of Crysis power armor muscles.
Where'd you get that impression? The closest I could think of was her summoning that compound bow.

I was more reminded of TES and "Summon Bound Weapon".

Also, Jaune. Just Jaune man.

Whatever it is she was wearing, I'm pretty sure Cinder could have drawn less attention to herself by wearing a big baggy T-shirt with "CONSPICUOUS" written on it in neon.

So, can anyone remind me when Jaune made this bet with Pyrrha about wearing a dress? I was rewatching the previous episode, and I don't see any mention of it.

Well I wouldn't say she's implanted the dust within herself, I think she's weaved it into her clothes (also mentioned in the World Of Remnant episode), hence the glowing bits on her outfit this episode, and her normal dress. Plus, she was seen with a sewing needle two episodes ago and she is based off of Cinderella, who did originally make her dress IIRC.

Ugh. I've been pretty willing to defend RWBY this season but the dialogue in the Jaune/Pyrrha and Jaune/Neptune scenes was....really, really painful.
Also, who animated Cinder's little roof-run? An unpaid intern or something? Seriously, I don't have a GIF handy but start watching from around 8:59. RWBY's animation is far from perfect most of the time, but that was unusually shitty.

As to Cinder's power, I think it's that she's capable of extremely fine dust manipulation. If you look closely, you can see she's holding tubes that look similar to the Dust vials Junior's men used in Vol 1 Ep 1.

Once again, Poser's inability to properly depict walking strikes.

Agreed.

I was wondering what was going on myself, not to mention the mask that kept disappearing and reappearing later during combat.

They were too busy animating the important things.

But yeah, I don't usually have a problem with RWBY's animation, and even I thought it was bad.

Many here have probably seen this already, but for the rest, Monty released a height chart for RWBY characters:

https://www.facebook.com/montyoum/photos/pb.278065288975017.-2207520000.1410591566./651234038324805/

Estimated numbers, as depicted above: http://bearshounen.tumblr.com/post/97365865939/montys-posted-the-cast-of-rwbys-height-chart

Note that the characters are wearing their usual footwear in the chart, so adjust as needed for high heels, thick soles, etc. An adjusted chart (accuracy not guaranteed):

http://weissrabbit.tumblr.com/post/97369835906/sooo-i-tried-making-this-in-order-with-the-heels

Highlights: Neo < Weiss < Nora < Ruby << most characters << Glynda < Junior < Yatsuhashi

I guess this confirms that Neo's short stature wasn't just a trick of perspective. The height difference between Torchwick and Neo looks hilarious on Monty's chart, like Neo is Torchwick's middle school daughter or something... Well, time for the jokes to roll in.

In other news, Monty just posted Prototype!Ruby on Twitter:

wow first version of Ruby was pretty different...

Her cloak looks less like a cape and more like an oversized scarf in this early version.

And her hairstyle reminds me of some Summer Rose fanart making the rounds.

This has been bugging me for a while now, but did the instrumental section of Red Like Roses from the first trailer remind anyone else of Dark Pit's theme from Kid Icarus?

They're not really that similar apart from the specific instruments involved and style. There's more drums and percussion in Red Like Roses, while Dark Pit's Theme focuses more on the guitar. The note structure and melodies are arranged in different directions-- Red Like Roses goes from high to low notes, while Dark Pit's Theme goes from Low to High. They're the same genre of music, but outside of that aren't all that similar.
