RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

RWBY Speedsters, I genuinely think we often forget how fast the characters in RWBY can move because we see the fights mostly from their perspectives when they are fighting people around as fast as themselves, cos like, this is what their fights look like otherwise:

Not RWBY, but that does remind me if a scene from Yuu Yuu Hakusho, where Kuwabera and Hiei go up against highly trained mercenaries. Kuwabera, the middle schooler who's theweakest member of the main cast and the hero's punching bag, is basically *ZIP* flashes up behind the guard, and casually karate chops them.

This is why it's a good idea every so often to go from superhuman vs superhuman, to super vs regular opponent every so often.

That sounds vaguely familiar, was it from the final arc where terrorists took over the afterlife and planned to nuke the human and or demon realm? Regardless, yeah, we got something like that earlier as well with Yusuke and Kuwabara storming Terukina's compound, landmines go off beneath their feet and they just casually part the explosions with their Spirits and easily crush all the demons up until they encounter their future big bad.

Mhm agreed, its useful to create a sense of scale.

Oh yeah not sure I ever shared this but someone started doing a new RWBY Ship Sheet:

ya know, sometimes I see Raven hate that makes it sound like she slaughters as she and her bandits pillage
and.....I honestly don't think that's the case.

sure she'll kill people in the pillaging, but killing someone defending their home is different from indiscriminatly killing any and all in your way to take their shit.

if anything I think what is more likely her normal mode of operation is;
she scouts a village as a bird (or have someone she can actually trust do it)
when they figure out where the goods are and what the defenses are like they make a plan more focused on a smash and grab where they come in, take what they can/need only killing defenders that get in their way, and then get the fuck out fast

does that make sense?

I've been tinkering with Wonderdraft and finally made a Remnant map I am mostly satisfied with!

People have been exaggerating how bad Raven is from the moment they learned she was an absent mother, "Worst mom" awards were a thing from V2 onwards, so I am unsurprised people act like Raven wantonly slaughters entire villages for sits and giggles despite that going against the modus operandi we had described and is contrary to what Qrow expected, hence him framing it as weird that shit got so out of hand.

Send this to the people who say the songs have no relevance on the series.

Seriously, no idea hows hes been spot on with this stuff.

Having had the time to actually see it myself now, you understate how good the predictions based purely on musical analysis of the trailers is at understanding the characters and the direction of things, especially noticing a problem Ruby will be having for at least the next nine volumes with just the tone of the music in the first trailer.

Mind, that's still pretty bad, as it invites grimm attack right after breaking defenses.

I feel like this is splitting hairs, tbh. If you invade a village and that causes people to die, either directly or indirectly through starvation/inviting grimm attacks, then you killed those people. She's a bandit leader. Bandits raid and pillage, that's what they do. You don't need to justify her actions in order to like her as a character. I like that she's evil, personally.
