RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Weiss asked Neptune to the dance, but then didn't actually dance with him? Hmmm...
Well, the dance is far from over. Emerald and Mercury have only just arrived, and we saw them dancing in the trailer.

When I saw the red dot appear I started snickering uncontrollably. Cats are wonderful
Unlike common cats, Blake was intelligent enough to look for the source of the Red Dot. But she still couldn't stop herself from chasing it in the end. :D

Theory: Faunus are normally indistinguishable from humans in every way except the physical.

However, at times of great emotional distress (such as when sleep-deprived), they retreat into their more bestial instincts.

Thusly, sometimes when Velvet gets mad, she starts hopping around, twitching her nose everywhere.

actually rabbits tend to stamp their feet when distressed, they only jump when necessary to escape.

Ahahaha fandom explosion episode. Nobody can say the only draw for this series is the fight scenes NAO!

Good to see some scenes between characters that haven't had a ton of screentime. People probably haven't noticed that Blake and Yang and Ren and Jaune have barely talked to one another before.

In summation of this episode: LOL TEENAGERS

As a serious response, the interaction between Yang and Blake was phenomenal. Hats off to the writers and VAs. They killed it.

Its a good thing Monty added those lazzor Penny scenes last season otherwise the truck incident would have made even less sense with the way Yang casually carries around a giant loudspeaker this episode.

Girl lifts bro.

And of course you can cite all instances of superhuman strength on the scale of oh, 300,000 pounds of force (as in casually picking up and throwing construction vehicles)? The truck is easily a class three vehicle (weighing in the neighborhood of 10,000 to 14,000 pounds, empty), and was moving anywhere from 15-20 miles per hour (assuming deceleration once Ruby fell into the lane). The truck takes a little more than 1 full second to come to a full and complete stop; meaning the forces exerted on Penny start at two-hundred and twenty thousand pounds, and can go up to over four-hundred and ten thousand pounds with just the assumptions I've made. If the truck is full of fuel and merch, it goes up, the weight of the driver increases the forces involved; if it's a class four or higher truck, all loaded up? One million pounds of force, easy.

"Super strength" does not mean everything is fucking made of styrene or that people can use buildings as melee weapons; SCALE FUCKING MATTERS.
Just fucking no.

oh please. The Atlesian Paladin was way easily in the same weight class if not heavier. If all Ruby had to go on was the truck scene it would have been minorly weird at best.

Edit:
Then there's Weiss shattering a huge stone pillar with her spine because Nora hit her with a freaking melon.

Treating all super strength as normal when the heaviest thing we see people like Yang move around looks to be around four orders of magnitude lighter than Penny's feat? Yeah no.

As for the paladin? You did notice how it's basic structural design makes it impossible for the rest of it's body to be exerting force on the punch? The only way that is in the ballpark is if the Atleasian Paladin is 22 times denser than the truck Penny stopped, to which my response is:

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA..., no."

Oh, and Weiss's situation isn't worth mentioning as part of a serious rebuttal because Aura; you know, the thing that was essentially stated to be the reason the characters involved can survive any of the shit they've gone through.

My response then would be that you are either blind or an idiot.

HINT:
The Atlesian Paladin punched straight through one of the support pillars of a major highway.

Why don't you try calculating how fast a truck would have to move to put so much as a noticeable dent in one of those things before you go on about how completely incomparable the truck feat is to everything else.

Edit:
And then there's the way it threw cars around like an angry kid with lego blocks.

Either cars in Remnant really are made of styrofoam in which case your calc is worthless or the Paladin arms carry a hell of a lot more force than a lightly speeding truck that had probably already hit the brakes.

Way to miss the point. The point is that Nora hit people with a freaking melon and as a result a giant stone pillar got destroyed.

Now back on topic:

Nora I'm sorry but Yang's "so there we were" story was a lot better than yours. :(

They're kind of laying on the foreshadowing thick this episode, aren't they? Ozpin talks about dancing being like combat, right when Mercury and Emerald walk in.

Also, how does Weiss fight in heels? Does she have special combat heels to go with the combat skirt?

Once again, Weiss shows just how much better she is than the rest of the common folk. :p
