RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

If anything, It'll be fun to see how Cinder handles not being on the ball with everything. The moment of utter shock was probably the best moment of the season, wish someone had made a screen cap of it.

And I'm still waiting for the inevitable revelation that Cinder and Ruby are, infact, siblings.

I did not watch the Death Battle, but knowing that Yang won makes me happy in retrospect. She needed a win.

Same here.
The main story starts now. Volumes 1-3 was literally a prologue! That was amazing!
The prologue was so good that we thought it was the main story!

Also, I find it funny that episode 7 (the episode where Cinder's team's background is revealed) was named "The beginning of the end" and the last episode was called "The end of the beginning".

Does it mean that episode seven was the beginning of the end of the beginning?

I'm content with the finale and look forward to more doom and destruction. :D

He probably has, Monty did say in a livestream that Ozpin has been around for a long time. Maybe his Semblance keeps him from getting old or something. Or, maybe the Ozpin that we see isn't really him but some sort of projection controlled by the actual Ozpin, kinda like the Wizard he's based off of.

That would fit in with the bit from episode 3 of Volume 1 where Ruby and Yang react to Ozpin's speech:

Yang: He seemed kind of... off.

Ruby: It's almost like he wasn't even there.
BRINGING THIS THEORY BACK, THE OZPIN WE SEE IS A PROJECTION, AND CINDER FOUND A WAY TO DISPEL HIM. THAT'S WHY HE'S MISSING.

That . . . sounds about right actually.

The narration at the end didn't sound to me like Ozpin was captured and going to be tortured. It sounded more like she was promising that there would be no place left for him to hide before she is through.

Ozpin also looked a little... odd during the fight.
Like he was phasing in and out, and the way he was moving seemed very inhuman compared to the rest of the cast.

Let me quote Cave Johnson about Life:

This is Remnant. Such fatalism means death. To defy it with all one's might is what makes humanity here thrive.

Team SBSV
Went through several Goliath hunts, White Fang heists, the Breach, every thing Vale can throw at them
Battle of Beacon comes
Only one survive, Sven Sbiel or something
Cheerful as nothing has happened
Travels alone
Grimms avoid him ever after
He's too batshit crazy and delusional for Grimm to sense his negative emotions!

He is the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I doubt he's the wizard that made the original Maidens who they are,but he's Headmaster of the single most prestigious Hunter's Academy on Remnant. He got that office for a good reason. We saw James throw around a Big Ursa like it was a child's plaything, and cut an Atlesian Knight in half with his pistol's grip.

My guess is that was Ozpin pulling out all the stops. Semblance meeting training, skill, conditioning, and talent,in one spectacular orgy of violence.

That doesn't necessarily preclude Ozpin in reality being a withered old man. It just means his semblance is so tremendously powerful, or possibly amplified by artificial means, or both, that he can project himself elsewhere.

Like you say, it's doubtful that he's the wizard who knew the first Maidens, but he almost certainly has some link to the tale or I'll eat my fedora . . . which I keep to remind myself why fedoras are bad >_>

I have to come up for a name for JNR + LRRH(Ruby).
R J N R
R A V L

One of the letters must be R, that's a given.
RANR, JRNL

I'm at a little of a loss here.
