RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Yeah... that last episode left kind of a sour taste in my mouth.

Some questions answers, many more left open. RWBY shattered and needing to come back (if they want the title to make sense from this point onwards) and I'm honestly worried if this isn't going to turn into the next "generic fantasy shonen #67981", because this juncture is the kind of thing that makes or breaks a history (and the fanbase).

At this point I can safely say there will be people making fics continuing from the "Pyrrah dies and RWBY shatters" moment, or simply ignore it altogether and make a different storyline, maybe taking some of these moments and ignoring others altogether.

Humanoid Grimm? Bah, already knew that would come sooner or later. I mean, we know there is Grimmevolution, so one would naturally wonder: what is the pinnacle of that evolution? The obvious answer: a humanoid Grimm or one not only capable of thought, but of creativity.

unless you want the Maidens to be able to just reduce people to dust by looking at them or something.
...

So, I'm reading through the thread right after watching the final episode, and I see this. And hell's bells, Leingod, I can't help but wonder if you chose those words because you had watched the episode by then, because you seriously are a prophet, or because you are just that good at twisting the metaphorical knife that is plunged right into my feels by simple accident.

Either way, Pyrrha.

Who is this humanoid Grimm people are talking about?
Salem, our bigger bad, though we don't know if she's a humanoid Grimm yet, or just someone who has Grimmlike traits. It's all speculation. From the looks of things, I'd say she's the source of all of the Grimm, the creator. Also, she kinda resembles the Winter Maiden from the World Of Remnant about Maidens.

Huh. I don't know if it's been pointed out yet (it probably has), but Salem kinda looks like the Winter Maiden...

Indeed, but if we were to assume anyone were to die here and now before this episode, it would have been her. Named for a king that won at a cost that may as well have been defeat, and dying just as the legend she was based off of. She was the best of them, and the most willing to do what was necessary no matter the cost.

We all likely knew it would end the way it did, she probably did as well, but she went regardless, because she had to try, she had to do something. We saw her going all out, and it was more than enough to match a Cinder despite having the powers of the maiden and the dragon on her side. Stand with the greats and perhaps even the gods Pyrrha, you've earned it.

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure Phyrra's dead. Sure Cinder might have burned her body but she had those red orbs coming out of that second arrow wound.

It kind of comes off more like some kind of stasis and transportation to me.

Yeah, I'd be more convinced of her death if Ozpin hadn't gone "missing".
