RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

I am not sure but I think we might see Jaune's parent finally.
Haven is in Mistral which is where Pyrrha is from and Jaune has mentioned he knew Pyrrha from ceral boxes which suggest that he is from Mistral.
So we might end up seeing the Arc family.

Also Pyrrha is from Mistral so we might see her family too.....

We should see SSNN as wll since they are from Mistral.

Wow, this episode was quite intense.

Ozpin vs Cinder was awesome, really awesome.

So wait, is Ruby a maiden? Or is she something completely different?

Can Qrow literally turn into a crow!?

What a load of shit. This episode cemented my agreement with detractors of RWBY's writers. This season has been a confused mess and this finale, for all it had some excellent moments, completely failed to fix any of it. I'm feeling a strong urge to find a piece of 2x4, scrawl "PACING" on it and beat the writers with it.:p:mad:

At this point I'm pinning my hopes for continuing to enjoy this series at all on them at least having the guts to keep the dead characters dead. If they're going to completely fuck up tragedy then they can at least commit to it. Hopefully.

Oh, and holy shit dat Schiee-stache. Wow.

Not sure if serious.

Not sure if serious.

Very serious. (not in the sense of actually doing it, I'm not a crazy person)

Killing characters is great, but there's more to pulling it off then just pulling the trigger. It has to be set up. It has to have the right weight to it. It has to spaced out from other events so that the reader's emotional reaction flows the way you intend it to.

As far as I can figure, they kept Pyrrha from just dying in the vault purely for the sake of an unnecessary kiss scene, a fight whose result was blindingly obvious and a hamfisted climax where the main character suddenly unlocks powers that somehow failed to unlock when Penny died, despite the obvious comparisons.

Not to mention Cinder having her banana peel moment when her plot armour abruptly ran out.

Well, other than Pyrrha, they all have some chance of not being dead.

Penny-> rebuilt
Cinder-> ALL ACCORDING TO KEIKAKU
Ozpin-> MY KEIKAKU IS MORE GLOBAL
Torchwick-> too fabulous to die (if it worked for Bobba Fett, why not for him?)

Nowhere did I even see it implied that Cinder Died at that point so scratch that off.

Ozpin is........Ehhhhhhh.

Torchwick is WOG Dead, but Miles and Kerry and liars sooooo maybe I guess?

So I watched the Cinder x Pyrrha fight again and I think it's safe to assume that Cinder was either A) Being cocky and not taking her too seriously B) Probably a bit tired from what was likely a her going all out against Ozpin or C) a combination of the two.

I'm honestly hoping that Torchwick isn't dead. He's a much more interesting and enjoyable villain than either Cinder or Adam.

If he has to stay died, a flashback episode between him and Neo would be great.

I am going with C given how she mocks Pyrrha about how she didn't get the Fall Maiden powers and how she was going to use them in ways she couldn't imagine.

Probably C. Pyrrha still did pretty good though considering she used her Semblance to force a broken elevator to go up a tower, which probably wasn't cheap on Aura. She is best Discount Magneto.

You take that back!

Joking aside, I never really had much attachment to Torchwick's character. Sure he had some funny lines, but I honestly didn't really care too much compared to the other villains (aside from Adam EDGE Taurus, who's at the bottom). The most I would've liked to see from him would be his connection to Neo.

I have said it before I will say it again something was VERY weird about the way Pyrrha died.
No other character's body does what hers does. Mer's dad left a body, Penny left a body, Amber left a body. Roman's most likely left a body but its in a griffin so no thanks. We also dont see that visual flash of energy from ANY of them either.
It really doesnt make sense for Cinder to burn her to ash and it doesnt match her the visuals or colors of her powers either.
So why does it happen?
If Pyrrha had just slumped over dead I would fully agree she is dead but that isnt what happened and the fact its so....different from the rest we see makes me think something more is going on.

Keep in mind the Maiden power machine was a big unknown it very well might have done something. We know it was seemingly moving the powers but it got stopped and who knows if that might be the reason for this.

Also as others have pointed out Joan of Arc heard the voice of god it might be RT's intent that Jaune's voice is Pyrrha as some kind of Aura ghost.
If that is even close to being the truth we might get a Mecha Pyrrha since we know Atlas has the ability to give Aura to Machines IE penny.

If they do go this route they NEED to make it obvious Pyrrha is not okay. She died and yes she is still alive, again if this is the route they are going, but its not the same and things are different.
The Trauma of such a thing would be MASSIVE.

Well, to take the Keria-ish look to it's logical conclusion........

Pyrrha will come back in a few volumes, but as some sort of Grim corrupted minion of Salem.

The glow was the same color as Cinder's fire, Pyrrha's aura is black remember.

Pyrrha did slump over dead after the arrow to the chest. She only dissolved when Cinder walked over and touched her corpse. She have reason to incinerate it- the girl was a worthy opponent and went down fighting, give her a decent burial so the Grimm don't tear her corpse apart. And someone on SB just pointed out something very interesting about Cinder's expression when Pyrrha asks about destiny.

She actually cried a little.

Edit: Could just be an animation error though.

Hmmm...

Something that has been bothering me for some time now is that it seems that dust isn't really all that important.
I mean, in some of the interludes (or however the worldbuilding chapters are called) it's often said that the dust is what saved humanity and allowed them to fight the grimm.

Yet we don't see Ozpin or Cinder use dust, or Phyrra. I mean, we can assume that maidens are special, but from what I've seen both aura and semblances are way more impressive than dust.

Yes but even then, those are powerful Semblances with Powerful people. Without the power of Dust I imagine most of the technology that exsists would't be,

At the very least the Dust Bullets would increase the damage done to the Grimm by the more common non-hunter types. Look at the Atlas army for example.

Would you rather have a simple sword and gunpowder, or a Gun-Sword that shoots fire bullets?

The tear thing is interesting
as for the rest no
First I wasnt talking about Pyrrha's aura which is a purplish black.

As you can see its gold
http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net...1_00115.png/revision/latest?cb=20160207160853
Very similar color
http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net...2_00124.png/revision/latest?cb=20160214160355
The arrow is red
http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net...2_00081.png/revision/latest?cb=20160214161748
Cinder's attacks are a reddish orange in color

Now while looking I can see where you might think its cinder's doing because of this shot
http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net...2_00126.png/revision/latest?cb=20160214160405
It looks like her hand is glowing but if you take it back
http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net...2_00125.png/revision/latest?cb=20160214160401
You can see that arrow is glowing a lot and clearly going past Pyrrha's head so most likely that glow is still coming from the arrow and not cinder's hand like the first image might make you think.

And I dont buy your explanation on her reasoning because Cinder has NEVER shown that type of behavior. If she had given something I might have but she never shows any remorse or respect to anything as far as we have seen so her suddenly caring about Pyrrha's body doesnt match up with the personality we have been presented this whole time.
