RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

It is the legendary gungun. Look at the concept art in the last episode. It has two triggers. It's a combined magnum and regular pistol.

Imagine some Ruby-esque student at Atlas gushing to Ironwood about her/his weapon (after the Headmaster notices that the student is alone and looking rather lonely and goes over to be all subdued and paternally supportive) only to ask him what his weapon does.

"Well..." Ironwood drew his beloved weapon with a practised twirl, "It shoots things."

"But what about its other form, sir?"

"The other form? That shoots things even harder."

"But sir, what do you do if you're in a melee?"

"Punch them."

In regards to the 'virus' I'm of the opinion that there was something really screwy about it.

Ironwood had used the word 'impossible' so I'm guessing that Atlas has at least decent computer security. Also if the designers of the Knights/Paladins aren't drooling idiots they wouldn't design the bots and suits so that the moment they lost connection with the CnC (Ironwood's ship) they all lose power and keel over. That's a rather nasty design flaw.

Ergo I'm assuming until further notice that the Black Queen program is some sort of magi-tech BS simply blowing past any and all system protections.

On a side note if you think about it any fight between Adam and Yang would be a very poor match up for Yang, as shown in this episode. From what I can tell Adam's style is focused on finish his opponent with a single powerful slash through an opening in their guard, which lines up with what I theorize his semblance IE he absorbs the power from attacks he's blocked and then can release all the power in a single cut.

This style is essentially Yang's kryptonite as it doesn't give her any way to ramp up using her semblance and her brawling style would merely give Adam more juice for his sword slashes.

If Yang had actually landed a hit or two I would agree. Hell, even some whiffed punches ala Neo would be better than what we got.

So when in the hell are we getting the Volume.3 OST on Itunes! I want to give these sadistic fuckbargs my money!I know the answer is after the Volume ends, but I want it now dammit!

What plays inside Blake's head:

Since this isn't Evangelion, it's a pity to not have Yang grow an arm made of aura or grab Adam's hand and use it as her own... I think maybe an evolved stage of her fighting style would be a "painthrower" - transfer injuries onto the target either through instant contact or aura projecting.

Also something else that just occurred to me. Blake is making her escape while carrying Yang and suffering from a what I assume Adam aimed to be a debilitating abdominal wound. I have to wonder how long she can stay on her feet in that condition.

Yeah odds are they're not going to get far, personally i'm expecting an Adam vs the assembled students or maybe just Ruby + Weiss, which I expect him to win but not manage to land any killing blows before a very pissed off Qrow arrives.

Also, is anyone else finding the Roman lines very interesting. For one thing it confirms that Huntsmen really do not tend to live long lives, which reaffirms the heroism of every last student at an Academy.

For another, it's making me wonder if he and Neo might once have been on a team. Maybe the other two died and that's what made Roman so very very cynical.

Of course they might just as easily have trained without ever going near an academy.
My current headcanon is that his parents were huntsmen who died in the line of duty thus leaving him an orphan with no family and forced him to fend for himself on the streets. Hence his nasty personality, his (usually) strong survival instincts and his bitterness towards people who want to be heroes.

"But sir, what do you do if you're in a melee?"

"Pistolwhip them"
Correction.

Aura son. Its a hell of a drug.

She's probably healed that injury already. Adam seems to have some Super Samurai Sharpness bullshit that lets him cut people even when they have their aura up so Blake should still have plenty left to heal with, just like Yang's aura seems to be closing the wound on her stump so that she doesn't bleed more.

Who are the calls from?

So.....Amber's pod is beneath Beacon Academy, right?

Who wants to take bets on whether the entire plateau the school is on gets leveled/destroyed in the climax of the fight between Cinder and Ozpin?
