RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Maybe penny used her super canon during her 4 vs 4 match and she snapped a pic then?

That's possible but I that sort of feels like it;d be over kill unless they were an incredible team, though she might be able to control the overall power. Still I doubt she's seen Ruby take that exact pose with Crescent Rose in sparring matches, though I guess its possible.

Well episode is out, let's see...

...

Hahah, nope! The wait for the next one is gonna kill me, I just know.

Screw it. Gonna look at quests and fics.

OK, Adam is three different shades of bonkers and still a very deadly threat. Also could somebody give Yang a hand?
I liked Roman's reasoning. He's a survivor and after seeing Cinder and co he's all 'It is better to be the right hand of the devil than in his path.'
Velvet is Unlimited Weapons Works and as the Velveteen Rabbit she brings replicas (pictures) to life (reality).
Damn, Ironwood's been through the grinder. Not sure how much of the torso/leg was replaced but that arm is purely machinery.
Huh, so it's less that Altas doesn't have computer security and more that the Queen virus is really f**king weird/OP.
Ah snap. And now Cinder is the Fall maiden in truth. Well Pyrrha it looks like your destiny was denied for the moment.

And in relation to Velvet, Diswasher1910 is bloody machine.

I am the Bun of my sword
Fluff is my body and chocolate is my blood
I have photographed over a thousand blades
Unknown to Grimm, nor known to White Fang
Have withstood pain to picture many weapons
And yet, this box will never contain anything
So as I pray, Unlimited Velvet works

I am the film of my camera,
Wood is my frame, and dust is my film.
Unknown to photography, nor known to weapon-smithing.
Have taken many pictures to create many weapons,
Yet, that film will never capture anything,
So as I pray, Unlimited Bunnyworks.

I am the lens of my camera
Aura is my film and Dust is my blood
Unknown to Death, nor known to Life
I have snapped pictures to create many weapons
Yet, this camera will never take selfies
So as I pray, Unlimited Bunny Works.

On the subject of the latest episode, first HOLY SHIT!!!

But second I think that maybe Cinder doesn't have all the power, she might have like 99% of it but I think that the incomplete transfer might have given Pyrrha the remaining 1%. Why is this important? Well that's because something tells me that whatever Cinder needed the power for requires that she have all of it.

I don't think so, you may be right but it seems that getting shot in the chest had what power that Phyrrha got go as well.

Magical backwash if you will.

Also, I pity anyone in future who marathons the show. The tone of the first two Volumes, and even volume threes beginning, will be caught of guard by the disarming tone.

Possibly but I would love it for Cinder to end up having a severe set back due to not having that 1% power. Also from Cinder's final lines in the episode I think we can safely say that we can assume that whoever Cinder's backer is that she knows Ozpin personally.

Because of this I shall refer to Cinder's backer as Dorothy.

I just realized. Ironwood's weapon is the closest we've come to the legendary gun-gun. There seems to be no transforming parts or melee additions, it's just a big ass hand cannon that he shoots things with and pistol-whips opponents with the handle.

But he was best boy! And he was so intresting in this episode, and he gave an actual good explanation for being a villain and OH GOD NO!

Aura son. So long as he didn't get bitten in half or smashed in the fall, Roman can just walk out when the Grimm dissolves.

Well... I'm both pleased and disappointing at this episode.

I think that overall I like it, but they did screw up a bit imo.
RT just rushed some scenes, which made some things seem implausible or plain silly.
  • So instead of having a more satisfying fight they chose to have a Grimm come in, nom Roman and blow up the ship. This was anticlimactic and wasn't really all that funny. And I really hope that Roman didn't actually die (surprise Grimm attack is a very bad way to do that).
  • So for the entire season people have been speculating about Qrow's weapon, but the way it was revealed was... Meh. Saying "James, look out!"/"Glynda, save James" would have been enough. We could have waited for the next season to have a more satisfying reveal imo...
  • Velvet used her awesome powers to fight the robots, which helped because... Actually, it didn't do anything. Ruby took care of all the robots a minute later. So that's another reveal that was pretty much wasted.
EDIT:
  • Oh, and Weiss suddenly getting her summoning power. Really, this episode has lots of important reveals that happen because of rather trivial manners.

I like how the series become more serious in this season, and this episode was amazing in that regard.
  • The twist of Cinder actually getting the maiden's powers instead of Phyrra was pretty brutal.
  • I think that the Blake vs Adam battle was handled quite well.
  • Yang getting her arm cut off.
  • Ironwood being a badass again.
  • And last but certainly not least, the preparation for Cinder vs Ozpin. I just hope that it isn't going to be as anticlimactic as some of the other parts of this episode.
Edit:
  • Sun's "You have got to be kidding me" was pretty funny.

Edit:
Added some stuff to both points.

Yea Id anything the quick succession between Eaten-Griffon Exploding-Crashed Ship gives him a good chance of survival.

On that note HOLY SHIT RUBY ! I guess someones not been skipping Leg day!

Eh, ironic deaths are hardly a new thing. Roman's so obsessed with ranting to Ruby and justifying his actions that he ironically dies from the same events he had a hand in starting. I think it would be thematically appropriate for Roman to stay dead.

Not to mention the good guys need to pull off some sort of victory.

Though it would have also been better for Weiss to be the one losing her arm protecting Blake, showing how far she's come in the past 3 seasons. So I wouldn't be surprised if RT had Roman survive.

Also, is anyone else finding the Roman lines very interesting. For one thing it confirms that Huntsmen really do not tend to live long lives, which reaffirms the heroism of every last student at an Academy.

For another, it's making me wonder if he and Neo might once have been on a team. Maybe the other two died and that's what made Roman so very very cynical.

Of course they might just as easily have trained without ever going near an academy.

It is the legendary gungun. Look at the concept art in the last episode. It has two triggers. It's a combined magnum and regular pistol.

I just know she is going to pull out omnislash as a finisher.

Neo must be last girl standing. Betray the villains in the penultimate episode in revenge for Roman. And then vanish without a trace.
Her last shot is standing on a cliff holding the hat then breaking into glass leaving the hat on a cross.
