RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Not to mention the time that Yang referred to Summer as "Ruby's Mom" was in a conversation where she's also talking about Raven. It makes sense to distinguish in context.

It's clear a lot of people are making completely bad faith "criticisms" of Yang's character for entirely insipid reasons - namely that she has romantic feelings for another woman. It's just such a mind-bogglingly awful take for an equally awful reason.

The goal is inappropriate edits :p
In that case, we'll need...

Weiss cheering as Qrow gets stabbed by Tyrian.

Weiss cheering as Clover gets stabbed by Tyrian.

Weiss cheering as Oscar gets punched by Qrow.

And Weiss cheering as she "dies" in Ruby's arms during the cafeteria fight.

Though that last one may be appropriate if you're a White Rose shipper. I prefer to ship Nuts and Dolts (Ruby and Penny). With Weiss, I've been leaning more towards shipping her with Ilia.

Does Weiss x Ilia have a ship name?

I said inappropriate, not self-inflicted :p
(Harriet ranting about how Qrow killed Clover)

Robyn: What if I told you Clover got himself killed by being an absolute dumbass?

Harriet: I'd beat the shit out of you.

Robyn: Clover got himself killed by being an absolute dumbass...like you're being now.

Harriet: THAT'S IT!!

(Twelve seconds of Robyn kicking Harriet's ass later)

Robyn: Alright, let's get out of here.

Having finally seen the ep and especially the OP, I can not wait to see Ruby getting put through the mental wringer as we get a deep look at how she ticks, what she's afraid of, all that. It's how I show affection, constantly picking at the emotional weaknesses of others.

More seriously, I loved the final two episodes of NGE and this promises to be along the same lines as that.

I mean Ice Queendom had the Congratulations scene

I just realized every complaint about Yang not "Caring enough" in her reaction to Ruby is basically saying "Oh you gave up your entire childhood to take care of your sister, NOT GOOD ENOUGH,". Which shows a rather unhealthy view of sibling dynamics and parenting.

Thats not what people are saying though. I think it is always best to look at what people are saying instead of creating what you think they are saying.

For the most part people take issue with that scene as one of writing, while we do know that Yang has taken care of Ruby and had scenes with her, it still feels strange when some of their scenes get interrupted for no reason, or when their reactions/emotions are muted.

To say that those people have unhealthy views of sibling dynamics and parenting i think crosses the line onto personal insults.

Its mostly questionable writing. Why interupt the scenes of sisterly bonding with BB, when both can happen without interrupting one another. Which is a fair complaint i feel and needs no extrapolation.

It's not really personal insults just my opinion on abroad spectrum of comments I've seen.

And here's the thing, I fundamentally disagree with your basic assertions here.
The BB reunion did not interrupt the Yang and Ruby Reunion, Yang and Ruby had their reunion, then Blake and Yang had theirs. The Ruby and Yang reunion as a scene accomplished what it needed to accomplish. And the reactions weren't muted they were just subdued, which is a distinctly different thing. There was plenty of emotion there it just wasn't as loud as the BB reunion was for reasons others have said, the dynamic between Ruby and Yang is considerably different then the dynamic between Yang and Blake.
