RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Okay, enough making fun of the spitefic. What are peoples expectations for how long to reunite the team? I'm thinking the first ep will set up their mental states, with one or two finding each other by the end of the ep, while all of RWBY will be reunited during the second ep. Jaune will take longer to meet up with the others, and Neo probably around the halfway point.

Yeah I feel like the first chapter will end with Ruby and Little reaching the village to find Weiss and Blake captured.

some of them have miraculously forgotten how anime movies never fit into continuity
They must be referring to the olden days where movies were glorified filler and not nowadays where canonical manga arcs can now be adapted into movies, like the very high grossing Mugen Train arc from Demon Slayer, or even movies that don't have any manga base but are clearly stated to take place in some sort of timeline, like with Sword Art Online's Ordinal Scale which firmly takes place between Seasons 2 and 3 of the anime.

Yet another example of bashing anime to prop up RWBY.

There's a really nice comic and some other stuff on Tumblr in general.

So broadly speaking I am not expecting to see Jaune for at least four episodes, maybe longer as he didn't show up at all in the trailer and no one knows he fell and so no one would think to look for him.

I think Ruby finding Blake & Weiss makes a ton of sense, the tricky one for me is Yang as I feel like given Blake tried to literally fling herself off the platform over her, that their reunion should have some heavy stuff but that the general tone of the team after reuniting doesn't mesh with that so (Waves hand) not sure.

Not to mention Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was one of the biggest animated films just last year and only made about... what, fourteen billion yen in Japan? And nearly two hundred million dollars on top of that internationally? And that adapted a prequel volume which is very canon.

The idea that spinoff movies can't be canon is impeccably self-limiting and at this point basically a time capsule take from when Pokemon and DBZ were kings of the playground.

1 - it is called "the exception, not the rule"
2 - movies are used for non-canon adventures for much the same reason people are iffy on accepting side material (like the RWBY novels) as canon because it would mean putting up money to go out of your way to see or read a thing so you had the full story.
back in the 90's-early 2000's this was a big part why such things were non-canon to the primary story, because not everyone could go out and catch a movie and it would be a while before you could find a rental version of said movie or book if you could not afford it.

Now, back to RWBY.
based on the trailers I'd say Ruby and Little find Weiss and Blake and get that mess settled, then we meet up with Yang and we get a flash back to her being robbed as she is waking up from her fall. They head into town to get the arm back, a fight happens and even though they get the arm back WBY somehow gets shrunk. Ruby collects her team and retreats to the forest. They meet the "Curious" Cat and get lead around. Episode 4 ends with the Lady At The Forge sending out the Burning Knight.
I am probably wrong, but we'll see this Saturday.

RWBY the anime movie:

We open in Argus, with the team looking for a boat to Atlas. Costumes are a weird mix of 6 and 7. Zwei and Ilia are there too, because it's a movie so why not. Suddenly, the city is attacked by the armies of Princess Oneshot of the hidden kingdom of Never Mentioned Again. They kidnap countless men, including Jaune, Ren and Oscar ("What about Qrow?" What about him?). The girls go after them, and discover that Princess Oneshot is looking for her destined husband, in order to complete a magical ritual to restore Lake Silverlight, which ensures the Grimm can never enter her domain.

There's battles, hijinks, a meet cute moment between Ilia and Oneshot, and then Cinder shows up to try and destroy the lake on Salems orders. Using the power of movie plot device, Ruby destroys the Grimm army but leaves the Lake so reduced that the kingdom must seal their borders lest all it's strength is depleted. Fortunately wacky hijinks meant that Oscar accidentally techically married the Princess, which is close enough for the magic to rechargem

They go back to Argus, then realise they could have used the royal ship to go to Atlas. Everyone Laughs ending.

What anime am I referencing?

Yeah One Piece Red was def pretty stand out last year

OK I have one complain right now but less on rwby and more on the company itself now.

Why the hell is the point of the rooster teeth membership now.

Cause 90% percent of those members are for the rwby content since the videoplayer on their website is not the best but tolerable for watching rwby

And now the members are either told to pay to watch in crunchyroll or wait a almost a year? Rooster teeth why are you shooting yourself on the foot.

and it seems to be a serious issue too cause they recently had post to beg fans not to pirate the show I understand the sentiment but I'm sorry it seemed super desperate.

I actually like rwby and would want it to finish but at this point come on bruh rwby is too good for rooster teeth. They need to get their shit together or WB gonna axe them sooner or later with how the company is taking no prisioners,

edit:

Granted maybe this justice league crossover could be a huge w to get out of WB ire but I feel this is a putting to much eggs on one basket situation

Nope.

That was a mix of like a couple of the naruto movies I think. I definitely saw parts of the first Shippuden Movie and the third of the pre time skip ones.

Closer...

Seeing as Valentine's Day is upon us, anyone got or seen any good Bumblebee Valentine's Day fanart?

Here's a good one!

More Valentines Bees for the one who asked.
RWBY the anime movie:
Give it some tweaks and I'd watch it; but then again I actually really like non canon anime movies.
I did think Naruto at first, but if its not Naruto, hm, damn, maybe... Bleach?

I'mma go search.

....

I should not have tried to search it up based on your description!

Call me conspiracy theorist but I 100 percent believe this crunchyroll exclusivity is to try and influence the rwby people to get hired by them if rooster teeth bites the dust.
More accurately, the IP. Rooster Teeth has already gotten rid of most of the actual animators and only the post production and writing teams are left.

If RWBY does get a Volume 10 greenlight (and given everything going on at large, big fucking if), it's not getting animated by anyone in-house. It'll be pushed off to another studio and at most the writers will be kept.

And again, even if it's 100% done, two-to-three words will stop it dead in it's tracks: tax write-off.
