RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Anyone else notice they seem to be doing everything possible to make Sun into the most blatant expy of the show?
I mean he's called Sun Wukong, he's got blond hair, he's a prankster/trickster/happy-go-lucky guy, he's got a monkey tail, he's got an awesome fighting staff, and he makes clones of himself to help fight!
Don't be surprised if Neptune turns out to have a water/earthquake based Semblance though.

You know I think this is the only time we've ever seen Torchwick look really comfortable and happy when talking with someone. I'm 99 percent sure that Neo is his daughter or otherwise related to him.

Plus her fabulous fashion sense, weapon and stylish villainy is all very similar to Roman's. I think this is one of those open secrets like Blake being a Faunus or Penny being a robot, if the animation team even bother keeping it secret at all and don't just reveal it the first chance they get.

Yeah, her design definitely comes off as a feminized version of Roman's own outift: white coat (with pink lining instead of red), dark pants and top underneath, and of course the parasol in place of the cane. I'm loving her already :D.

I bet the parasol is not a gun, but some sort of Dust weapon, and she will eventually fight Weiss in a Dust fight.

(The design on the Parasol being a Rune Circle like Weiss's, but a more permanent one.)

You know, thinking back to the episode, Roman really screwed things up for Team CRME here by playing their hand too early. In his attempt to kill Team Black Sun, he brought the secretly-obtained military-grade mecha out onto the streets of Vale, marked with clear White Fang logos, and wreaked havoc on the civilian traffic, definitely injuring (and possibly killing) dozens of innocent drivers and likely left scores of witnesses; and to top it off, he ended up losing the expensive mecha to Team RWBY, which was one of the handful he managed to obtain from his hidden sources.

As a result, the authorities - in particular the Atlas military - are going to be hounding for White Fang and Torchwick for stealing the mecha.

Cinder's not going to be happy when she finds out about his blunder.

If Blake and Sun had gotten away then the secretly-obtained mecha would have become public knowledge anyway so its not like he made things any worse on that front. And the White Fang is a terrorist organization so the havoc he caused would have been a plus in their book. Finally the mecha would probably have to be written of as a loss anyway after Sun and Blake discovered it, its unlikely that the White Fang could have smuggled something that big and conspicuous out of town if the police were notified and on the lookout for it.

The mecha was their secret weapon - revealing their hand too early means that they lose the element of surprise. Terror works best when the target doesn't know you're coming. Now that the military likely knows about the theft, they're going to prepare for anti-mecha combat as well the normal preparations against a White Fang attack.

Besides, how likely would the authorities believe Team RWBY anyways? Would they even tell the authorities? Blake's very keen on not letting anybody know about her being a Faunus or her former links to the White Fang, so the gang would likely try to keep things under wraps under the assumption they can deal with it themselves.

But they didn't reveal their hand, Blake and Sun snuck a peek. If Roman hadn't chased them the cat would still have been out of the bag.

Well the last time RWBY got involved with Torchwick and the White Fang the authorities had to fish up the bisected remains of two Bullheads from the harbor. And before that Ruby foiled a robbery committed by Roman. So I'd say pretty damn likely.

Blake is keen on not telling anyone that she's a former White Fang member, this is not the same as not revealing that the future might be filled with giant mecha's rampaging through the streets. She doesn't have to tell anyone how exactly she came across that information, hell she could just let Sun take all the credit for the discovery.

Well... it was a loss for them, but the mech was a lost secret anyway, because Blake and Sun saw it. So he took the mech after them to keep them from reporting on more specific plans.

And then he lost it, and Cinder's gonna be pissed about that one, but he could probably have taken just Blake and Sun in that thing. The fact that Neptune, Yang, Ruby, and Weiss showed up isn't really his fault.

Besides, how likely would the authorities believe Team RWBY anyways?
Ozpin would, and that's all they need.

We don't know the Torchwick plans have gone wrong. Remember, he was playing up the conflict between the government and the White Fang during this speech.

For all we know, the White Fang is just a diversion to keep the heat off of the real plan.

You know, given that we don't actually know what phase two entails, it's entirely possible that a giant running fight on the highway with dozens of casualties is exactly what Cinder wants.

Don't forget he also made quips about a divorce to Emerald in the previous episodes, making it fairly believable that she's his daughter from a failed marriage.

While this is plausible, he did say he was joking, though whether or not there was a grain of truth in his joke remains to be seen.

...What if she's based off of Willy Wonka?

EDIT: WAIT NO THAT MAKES NO SENSE, WHERE WOULD THE MIRROR/GLASS/ILLUSION MOTIF FIT IN THERE?

Glass elevator?

Maybe she is Wabbajack?

I didn't, its a large part of why I suspect its so likely.

If Neo is Roman's daughter I wonder if he brought her in on this scheme because he wanted more backup if weird little girls interfered with his plans again or if he wanted to have someone he could actually trust with him to watch his back in case Cinder of the White Fang should try to backstab him.

Also something to consider with Neo's illusion abilities, even if Team RWBY informs the authorities that the White Fang has moved their operations to the south-east it might not be possible to discover their base. If Neo can use her ability on a large scale then she might be able to hide an entire White Fang base from sight, or more reasonably they could have their base in a tunnel complex or underground with the entrance being made invisible by Neo.

Umbrella sword maybe?
Found a pretty good shot of the umbrella.

compare

I'm pretty sure its a gun, though it probably fires some kind of fancy dust rounds rather than regular bullets.

Edit:

This image really drives home how huge Crescent Rose is, especially compared to Ruby. Do you even lift sis? Why yes, yes she does.

I notice how Cresent Rose's magazine is pointing the wrong way. That would mean the bullets would go out the non-pointy end.
