RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

So, I'm thinking that Volume 9 will have two major things. One, a chance for the girls and Jaune to decompress after all the horror and stress they've been through. And second, the chance to stop bouncing from crisis to crisis and actually start planning long term. The end of volume 3 had RNJR set out with that as their goal, investigating Cinders Haven Academy ties. Since V5 though, they've been stuck in dealing with short term problems, mostly because OH MY GOD EVERYTHING IS ON FIRE JAMES PUT THAT BOMB DOWN OKAY CIVILIANS TO EVACUATE WORLD TO WARN WHERE'S THE RELIC WHAT DO YOU MEAN SALEM HAS IT WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WHALE?!

Thing is......I don't think they will do "long term".
Klein did advise them "one step at a time". Not to mention part of Ironwood's problem was "the big picture" and losing site of the "smaller picture" in things right around him.
Sure, having a long term plan is great, but Ruby's recent long term plans have fallen apart.

Oh absolutely. But at the same time, they need long term goals, and steps to reach those goals. There's a balance between short and long term planning, and the heroes need to find it. Otherwise they just keep bouncing from crisis to crisis.

Plus Klein's advice was centered on not getting overwhelmed in a disaster scenario, right now their main day to day focus will be not dying and getting out, with theoretically downtime to learn of new stuff or reflect on what they can do when they get back.

Simple long term goal is "Stop Salem"

So, how can they achieve that? What are some loose plans they can start to implement?

I'm not thinking of long term plans that have to be followed step by step. That's one of the things James tried, which is why he was so overwhelmed when the enemy did anything he didn't expect.

"Keep relics away from her."
"Unite the world."

and as I said earlier, there will be plans and revelations they hit on as they move forward.
they aren't going to have solid plans all the time, more loose ideas and aims that will pop up, basically like objectives and missions in a game.
"Regroup on island."
"Process thoughts."
"Find way off island."

We get to Vacuo,
"Reunite with the others."
"Find Tyrian and Mercury."
"Defeat Tyrian and either Defeat Mercury or get him to defect."
"Find Summer Maiden and add her to the party."

A latter goal that will only come up when the situation demands it,
"Return to Beacon."
"Meet up with more allies."
"Find where Oz stashed the damn Crown."

Honestly the only sure thing they have to plan for currently is "Get off island", "Reunite with friends" and "Stop Salem", everything else will come around as the situation calls for it and probably won't be on their radar until it needs to be.

To be fair, Ironwood was on the right path with that. The only problem was that Fria was in her twilight years (so she can't just head over, open the vault, then chuck the Relic in for safe keeping. Not to mention all the fighting over the relics that were a major focus in Volume 8 would mean those vaults won't stay closed for long) and his method to telling the world about Salem was questionable at best and a breach of human rights at worst. Not to mention the villains starting fires where ever they can.

thinking about Qrow.....
part of me wants him to give Ruby (and Yang) a big hug when they reunite and say "I missed you."
Kind of a heartwarming call back to his teasing "No" to Ruby back in Volume 3.
And they can have tears in their eyes as they hug him back tightly and say "We missed you, too, Uncle Qrow".

Like I told some friends when I first watched the finale.
If there was ever a time Qrow was gonna Relapse it be now. I don't want him to but I'd totally understand if he did.

question
in the years since the airing of Lost Fable, has anyone ever come across any post anywhere talking about the design choices of The Brothers?
Basically talking about "Why Dragons?" and "Why 2 different types of Dragon?" etc. etc.

I really don't know, obviously, on the map of Remnant, Anima looks like an eastern dragon, whereas the land of darkness looks like a western dragon, but we don't really know the why, if there is one. Maybe it's just a stylistic choice, because dragons are cool. Maybe there's a deeper reason we don't know yet. Idk, it's not something I'm too worried about in the grand scheme of things RWBY related.

Well the map is based on a ketchup stain, that I remember.
But like, they chose for the Dark brother to be modeled after a European Dragon, the kind that are known for Death, Destruction, and other negative traits. Meanwhile Light is based on an Eastern Dragon, which are more known for Wisdom and more positive traits (while also being a powerful force you normal do not want to anger).
I'm pretty sure someone out there could make a better articulated post about it then I could.

Man I am Still always surprised by the cracks ships that get support for nothing else but being gay
