RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

This is gonna be a funny thing to see if people say "We didn't see Yang's body so she didn't die!" in the same space as "We saw Jacques get vaporized (no body) so it must be a death."

Not to be blunt, but I think you're underestimating how hard it is not to be stabbed while trying to use a Semblance while a magical girl shoots fire everywhere.
You... Don't really seem to get how people work do you? Like this feels like the definition, the dictionary example of bad faith criticism/arm chair general-ing.

But hey it gives me an excuse to post great meta:

Yes, and it's hilarious how she just continually refuses to redeem her character and keeps on digging herself deeper into unlikability. Like, did she never consider "Maybe I should run after Yang while she's falling and I'm throwing my weapon at her"?
At least she's not actively hitting people who were trying to help or warn her now.

What the fuck are you even going on about? Blake ran to the edge, but she just wasn't fast enough.

Failure doesn't make a character unlikeable. Blake reacted quickly and tried her best.

If she was trying her best, she would've jumped off. There were a bunch of platforms beneath. Plus Yang was actively not even trying either by not shooting around, Weiss didn't use her glyphs to make a platform, and Ruby was too dumb to use her Silver Eyes to fight Cinder, or her Semblance to save Yang.

I'm just going to ignore the Blake hate because it is very dumb and instead focus on

how her going feral on Neo is exactly the sort of drastic mindset change that could lead to a Semblance evolution. Specifically a more offense oriented one. Because now would be a really cool moment for Blake to live up to her mother's name by figuring out how to fuse with her Shadow/Burn Clones so that she can turn into a multi-armed avatar of vengeance that is also on fire.

It's a bit of a long shot as far as theories go but I would be so here for Blake getting a Kali mode.👹

Actually she did do exactly what "Greener223224" claims she didn't.

Anyway, my heart is breaking.

That volume 5 character short
threw herself into the maw of a huge Ursa to save Ruby seems a lot less superfluous now than it did back then. Foreshadowing anyone?

This really is the mother of all cliffhangers. Four major fights going off at the same time and only one of them doesn't directly involve civilians dying if the heroes don't succeed.

I've been seeing a lot of chatter about Harriet being compared with Blake this episode - Blake has jumped straight to anger at Neo for seemingly killing Yang, while Harriet is very clearly trying not to deal with her grief over Clover. But unlike Harriet, Blake realizes mid-fight that she needs to help her team and not just prioritize her anger - she sees that Weiss needs her help against Cinder too (and clearly wants to also help Ruby at the same time, which is a dilemma). All this together, and seeing that Qrow is there fighting Harriet, makes me think he might actually get her to air out her emotions and give up - they're both grieving for him and need to accept that, not just straight to murder.

The bomb's definitely going off though, the real question is where, and who it will kill.

Meanwhile, the fight between Winter and Ironwood really can't end without one of them dead - he wont stop no matter the cost, after all. I'm placing my bets on her killing him and then being emotionally devastated because she's been bottling it up for too long.

And on the world-between-worlds side, yeah, our title team is definitely falling.

I think we might see her straight up splitting herself in two so she can help both Ruby and Weiss at the same time, honestly. Sort of a metaphor for the need of needing to be in two places at once and running yourself ragged in the process.

Yeah, this is their Hail Mary play here. It's gotta be finale next week. No thirty second fights like last week and certainly no "CHECKMATE!" {King Crimson} "THAT'S ENOUGH!" from V5.

It's never been shown to be terribly difficult, has it? Weiss' semblance is definitely the one of the four that needs the most effort to use, but Ruby's has been explicitly shown to be more like Harriet's where she just decides to go fast sometimes. Even Yang turned hers on in an eyeblink this episode.
