RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Also, don't think I didn't see that "If you're a fan of RWBY, wouldn't that make you racist?" comment.
Okay what the fuck are you talking about? You edited this in so I legitimately have no idea what you're even saying here or the context.

There are artists who still pump out Pyrrha and Arkos fanart to this day. This isn't coming from haters, this is coming from its biggest fans.
Yeah and? You said 'aren't they're people who still hate that Pyrrha died?' A lot of people who love the show are hurt by her death, but that doesn't mean they hate it. Like seriously dude you are already moving the goalposts.

Wasn't responding to you there, it was to someone else.

You said "RWBY never disappoints". That's a blatantly wrong statement that I refuse to allow exist.

Did you know that this forum and many others have ignore features?
here is how you use SV's

step one click on the BLUE name of the person not contributing to your forum experience

step two click, ignore.

now the troll has to entertain themselves and we get to go about our day

Again you shift the goalposts.

You made the comment 'Always count on RWBY to dissapoint,' which is a clear tongue in cheek way of saying 'I hate everything the show does.' I responded with the same tongue in cheek tone to say 'I disagree, I enjoy what RWBY's doing.'

If tongue in cheek was not your intention, and you were completely serious, then you have absolutely no room to come after me saying you can't allow a blatantly wrong statement to exist. Come on dude, try harder with your trolling.

edit: Heck, I never even said 'RWBY never disappoints.' I said
I mean RWBY has very rarely done that. Not for lack of the HTDM's trying tho. Good to see that hasn't changed.
that post's not even edited. And you have a quote on record as well.

Some people just watch and comment on it for the sole purpose of hating the show. This is far from new for RWBY.

It generally seems to fall into two categories:
1: The characters aren't doing what my head-canon says they should be doing so I'm going to call them stupid and the writers pathetic hacks.
2: Other people seem to like this show so I'm going to rail against/s**t on it because that behavior is 'cool'.

I've found it fairly easy to separate the people who actually like the show while acknowledging weak points versus the hate-watchers.

Always something with these openings.

Guys, the ignore button is a great tool, please use it, it's done wonders for me.

Since when can Nora ride her weapon like a witch's broom?
Since last volume, because remember when Team JNPR was training with FNKI, and Nora was chasing Neon? For a brief moment, Nora's hammer switches to that flight mode as she continues the chase.

Anyway, let's do some "Oh we completely missed that"

Yang has the shortest range in terms of propulsion from her weapons, both versions, and it's mostly good for horizontal movement, not vertical.

She's also been in two vaults, both locations being places you can fall from. The fight with Adam was on a cliff. Earlier this volume, she also lamented the fact that no one among them (JOYR) could fly. She nearly fell off a cliff during the Hound chase. There's probably something I missed, but what I'm saying is, Yang being the first person to fall makes sense, and also she should avoid ledges and or learn how to fly.

I feel like instead of being knocked off RWB will willingly fall to get Yang back. Probably with Blake stopping before she can escape to Vacuo and giving Ruby a look. But Ruby decides shes going too, their team sticks together to hell and back. They both look at Weiss who just sighs and nods. She was thinking of going after Yang anyways

Interesting episode.

I didn't expect the last question to be used that way, though Watts is still on a falling Atlas and now has control of the bomb.

Are we losing Watts this season? Maybe.

Harriet is the last holdout of the Ace Ops. Will she turn? Die? I think we'll have our answer next episode.

About the episode
So the since the refugees are at Vacou. I wonder if next season conflict would be the tensions between the Vacouns and the refugees. Since in the book when I remember hearing that Vacouns huntsmens in the academy thought Vale got what was coming to them for taking part in their exploitation. Which Theodore had to personally be involved to stamp out that kind of talk.

That was their ally in the Great War. Now imagine if they have to take care of the people who's ancestors took advantage of them to the point their entire ecosystem collapse. Causing them from being a sedentary people with a stable government to an unstable farce of unified state forced to be nomads. With the only government being the academy itself.

Edit: I forgot that Vacou just came out of a civil war so their is that to factor in.

Theory based on the OP

Cinder's gonna be the one to ask Jinn's last question
You called it, the time stop was Cinder using the last question. Which makes sense, Salem's side has to at least get one. Honestly Cinder using it for this is probably the best case scenario because at least Salem has to wait.

An interesting idea I've seen is on how long this round of questions has been. Because if the first question was used back during the time of the Great War or earlier, we may not have seen the last of Jinn.

EDIT: Wait I might be forgetting how Jinn's rules work.

...Do people think Yang is actually dead? Like, literally when has that ever been how RWBY works?
Yang absolutely isn't dead. We're gonna see what the other side of the void is like

Not to be an ass but a sizable chunk of the RWBY discourse is filled with people who have a toddler-like understanding of literally all aspects of writing and fiction. If the characters aren't in front of them right this second they don't exist. If the writers have any sort of build-up to things they're accused of forgetting about things. If characters have the most obvious fake-out deaths in fiction they're assumed dead and the writers are idiots. As much as I like the RWBY discourse it's fucking exhausting how often it splits between breathlessly making up theories that will never pan out and decrying every second of screentime not devoted to their interest.

Thoughts
Yang has one more reason to want another shot at Neo in the future.

Yang knows the pain of playing Little Mac in Smash Bros.

Wonder how Winter (or the other Schnees) will react when Ironwood says he killed Jac.

We finally see Ravager grimm that we heard about in the books. I fully expect CFVY to show up next episode. PREPARE FOR CAFFINE PART 2!!

Vine ALMOST had Hare....but again bad luck. Wonder if Marrow and Elm are OK.

I wonder what Cinder will try to tell Salem when The Witch comes back looking for the Lamp and it's last question.

Cinder is probably hedging on Watts dying with Atlas. That's what her sickly sweet tone tells me anyway.

So, how many episodes are there supposed to be in this volume? 'Cause I thought it would be 13, but now that can't be the case.
