RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

It sounds better in Japanese.
When the fandub happened, weren't there Japanese people complaining about how it sounded better in English?

The same'll happen here, just you wait.
Kinda different situation (I'm not Japanese) & could just be me, but I kinda do prefer the English ones ^.^; I can't quite tell the difference between Ruby and Weiss' Japanese voice, and Yang for some reason doesn't quite sound like a girl - which is pretty jarring considering she's Ms Fanservice for Season 1 ^.^;

FTFY

Also, I like Blake's voice, I don't agree with the bit about Yang, but I do agree that Ruby and Weiss sound pretty similar and it takes a bit of work to tell them apart.

I like Ruby and Blake best, so far. Yang is... odd, and Weiss hasn't really made a impact on me.

It'll be interesting once more footage gets done.

Yeah, I remember someone saying that when they were announced. Which seems like they're focusing on the 'gives no fucks' part of Yang's character rather than the fanservice.
I fail to see how this would be a remotely bad thing. Also how much 'fanservice' does Yang really offer beyond her outfit being kind of revealing?

And the flirting, don't forget the flirting. And teasing. And abusing Junior (Volume 2, sure, but still)

I had the same problem at first, but that's mostly because they transitioned into her dialogue a little fast. After a few seconds I realized that it was Saori Hayami, whose voice I've been hearing a lot more as of late, and not Yoko Hikasa, whose voice I've heard many times before, but never quite been able to recognize. And that's not me saying she's bad, or even lacking, quite the contrary, she's very good, it's just that she blends into the characters so well I can never pick out anything I've heard from her before.

and Yang for some reason doesn't quite sound like a girl
I'd say she does, but to be fair, her dialogue in the trailer is her when she's fighting.

Also, I like Blake's voice
Blake is my favourite out of the Japanese cast so far.

Which seems like they're focusing on the 'gives no fucks' part of Yang's character rather than the fanservice.
Well, Ami Koshimizu has probably voiced fanservice characters before. She's been in the industry for a while. And technically Ryuko counts for both.

Yang has Ryuko's VA.
And Nora has Mako's.

The entire main cast that's been revealed so far is as follows:
Ruby Rose:Saori Hayami
Weiss Schnee: Yōko Hikasa
Blake Belladonna: Yū Shimamura
Yang Xiao Long: Ami Koshimizu
Jaune Arc: Hiro Shimono
Nora Valkyrie: Aya Suzaki
Pyrrha Nikos: Megumi Toyoguchi
Lie Ren: Sōma Saitō
Ozpin: Kazuhiko Inoue
Glynda Goodwitch: Masumi Asano
Cardin Winchester: Subaru Kimura
Penny: Megumi Han
Roman Torchwick: Shin-ichiro Miki
