RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

"Be wary of liar"

Nice try. 3/10 for effort.

But really though it's like looking at old trailers and seeing the finished product, it's so different in tone.
To be fair from what I had heard the first two trailers the Red trailer in particular was meant to be more of a weapons demonstration. This can be really seen by what the fans thought of Ruby and Weiss would be like personality and character wise then we saw what they were actually like in the series. It wasn't until the Black Trailer which was released a few months after the White trailer did we start to see a more cohesive story.

You make a good observation. In regards to the Red Trailer it was revealed that while still nominally canon it was really just an experiment to test out and show off the weapon over anything else, before the Grimm or much else had been fully decided upon. As for the other three trailers, barring Yang's those could be considered either high intensity solo boss fights or very heavy story segments which while Season 2 has its contrasts against stuff like a dance sub plot and the cast having a team to serve as a safety net. I'm not sure I can say much more about S3 without delving into spoilers though but the tone does get... harsher.

Can we also just take a moment to appreciate how good the new season of RvB is? Because hot damn I didn't think we needed a prequel for the reds and blues but apparently it was the best idea ever.

Yeah, Red and White (especially Red) were more of a pilot that Monty did alone as a testbed to see if it can raise hype, I think that it's once he started working on the final product proper with Miles and Kerry that it changed by toning down the level of violence.
And there's also the technical and time constrains to take into account: Monty had all the time he wanted to make the trailers perfects and animate all those flying severed limbs and blood projections stylized as rose petals, but once the series proper started with their deadlines, there wasn't time anymore to do any of that, or else we would had one episode per month.

Considering we have approximately 1 season a year and there are twelve episodes in a season we do get one episode per month.

RWBY Chibi 4
It was fun, though Blake and Ruby's voice acting sounded odd once or twice, loved the joke with Yang's hair at the end XD Yang's voice was actually really solid, the eyes got a little, weird, in one or two scenes, the angry Yang fire effects were great and I still like Blake Cat jokes as much now as I did before, which is a lot, also the tea pot scene was adorable regardless :)
Marshmallow sketch definitely my favourite.

Well I guess we don't have to wonder how long it's going to take Zwei to find Blake.

And of course Blake decides to go with the obvious cat joke after everything else.

To be fair, I know real people who would just sit and play in a box like a cat, I'm one of them. I'm just so much larger than anything besides a refrigerator that I can't comfortably.

[Discussion] Chibi Season 1, Episode 5
I love the Blake cat jokes myself, love em in fan art, crack fics and RWBY Chibi XD

Also on the new episode:
Weiss has a real habit of losing stuff, heh.

More cat ears, free the ears, glory to the ears!

Huzzah for Nora's voice, pretty much always love those "one of us will have to change' jokes XD

I love how the chairs are actually scaled for their ridiculous proportions.

Hehe, still a wanted poster out for Blake it seems.

Passive aggressive much Ruby? ;)

Zwei the squeaky tumble weed. Hehe, poor Ruby, she tried.

 Shadow Ruby is adorable, hug her, hug her now!

So we finally found out what's in The Box.

Another mystery solved gentlemen!

Now on to the next big questions:

- Will Wuby ever win against her team mates?

- What does a YangYang marshmallow taste like?

- New feline, world order Blakey when?

[Discussion] Chibi Season 1, Episode 6
Spoilers for Chibi Episode 6
Weiss dances, plays and hums while vacuuming, I have never identified with her more.

Zwei and Blake identify over their hatred of the dreaded vacum!

Poor Ruby, the cape has claimed her again.

Dude, not cool Jaune, wipe your feet!

Zwei has a good sense of space, just like Blake, also the animation looks really good, like less uncanny valley than ever, I love it.

Haha, poor Blake, just cannot cope, also cookie Ruby is adorable.

HELLO AGAIN! (Oh wow, this may actually be a dream...)

Dammit, Pyrrha. This pretty much confirms that this is all a fever dream Ruby had after using her glowy eyes of doom in the finale. Also, the poster of the Achievement Hunters above Blake and Yang's beds has been changed to the Chibi art style, and includes Jeremy.

You know it just occurred to me but... I recall Vale Police not responding to Roman swaggering down the street being cited as a reason they suck, but think about it, Roman is a notorious criminal who could likely kick the ass of the entire force provided they don't have a Hunter with them, turning up to arrest him would be hurling bodies into a meat grinder, but who was there?

Glynda.

So my new reigning head canon is Roman was reported and the police called Beacon for help and that's why Glynda was in the area.

Obviously Vale's PD has insufficient dakka. They should get more. :V (Because relying on what are essentially mercenaries to ensure law and order against higher tier threats is probably a bad thing for government stability)

The government does have Hunters loyal to them, though. Even if they have the option of leaving, each nation should probably have a number of patriots, as well as those, yes, working for money... but a lot of those working for the money will still be quite steady.

I mean, the Vatican Swiss Guard were mercenaries. It's not always a bad thing.
