RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

To tell the truth there is an important point of data that we are missing in order to use the number of Faunus students as a proof of racism, we don't know what the human/Faunus population rations are, for all we know Faunus are over-represented in Beacon.

Since Ozpin seems to have final say in who attends Beacon, I don't think the population of the school is really an accurate sample of society regardless.

All we know for certain is that the faunus feel disenfranchised, to the point where people considering joining the White Fang are fine with stolen military equipment, and that Weiss is aware of the 'unsavory' practices in the family company.

Given the small number that would leave them with a disturbingly small population, and given the attempts to force them to Menagerie... Well I could easily take that as an implication that the Faunus population might have once be bigger but previous generations of mistreatment from humans and the war whittled their numbers down. Granted that's just an assumption but still.

He told Blake to set the charges so presumably they had something to help blow up the Dust I feel. But yeah I figure robbing it was the normal, sane, plan and Adam wanted to blast it because he's like that.
Rebuild Version: Black Trailer goes as normal until the spiderbot is killed. Then backup arrives for the train in the form of an air force, presumably set up after the last two robberies, and Adam announces that he's changing the plan: if they can't rearm, they can at least deny the enemy resources by setting off the Dust. Blake is hesitant, but agrees. The plan goes off without a hitch until Blake finds out that the train also carries civilian passengers - passengers she is now too late to save.
Cue guilt.
(Adam isn't too happy about it, of course, but he's too busy trying to justify it to himself with "they were working with Schnee, the enemy, and they were aware of the risks" to really be much help.)

Sorry for not responding initially, I'm kinda uncomfortable with rebuilds, but its an interesting idea regardless.

I asked about Faunus discrimination and SDC working conditions.
Over in SB, we're actually talking about VOTING on one specific thing to ask for in force.

Options are

1) Kingdom's defenses (hoping to cover the walls, artillery, traps, militia strength and equipment, and hunter involvement)

2) Combat school (how do Remnants normally awaken Aura? how many discover Semblances? how young? what does it take to qualify for hunting education, and if you don't meet the cut, what else can you look forward to?)

3) Spirituality / Eschatology (beliefs and studies of the afterlife)

4) Faunus (present conditions and possible origins, or at least the myths of their origins)

My votes on number 2 because that would explain a LOT about RWBY and Jaune specifically. One of my big theories is that Aura is mostly a hunter thing and not a general populace.

Just a heads up, if RT announces anything regarding RWBY tomorrow, it is 100% legit. Rooster Teeth was founded on an April Fools day, and it is against company policy to play April Fools jokes on the community.

I swear, this is legit. I know I said RT doesn't do April Fools, but even I have my doubts about this one.

If roosterteeth really doesn't do april fools...

...well you realize that this is pretty strong evidence that Rwby is never ever going back to being season 1 level lighthearted.

Also I've never been a fan of the whole chibi artstyle.
