RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Make sure to watch after the credits.
So, Qrow recovered Ozpin's cane, but he also said Oz is missing. I suspect that means Oz isn't dead - people knew Pyrrha was 'gone' despite only Ruby witnessing her disintegration, implying that disintegration leaves traces of some sort, but despite clearly sneaking into the site of the battle, Qrow isn't talking about Ozpin as if he's dead as well. So there's hope.

Also Qrow can turn into an actual crow. So that's neat.

A bit late to make the announcement, but SPOILER SATURDAY is upon us! You all know the drill by now, the next three-to-six pages will be discussion about the episode, with virtually every post being in spoiler tags.

Don't be.

He's been making a hobby out of nurturing his victim complex.
I'm sorry, I thought this was the RWBY thread. I could have sworn I saw something like that in the title. And if I'm not mistaken, the discussion of the thread revolves entirely around the show.

We have several dedicated Worm threads if you're that obsessed with it. Shouldn't be too hard to find. Now let's keep respective fandom discussion where it belongs, and Worm does not belong here.

...that doesn't sound healthy.

He is however right that Ruby's magical awakening came out of left field, and in a particularly poor fashion at that.

The concept could have been hinted at beforehand by having a few other exceptionally bad-ass characters display silver eyes. Enough for people to start wandering about it ala the 'D' middle initial in one piece.

Also, Ruby having a few 'silver eyed feats' dusted through the series to give hint that she's got something going for her above and beyond natural talent.

I'm personally hoping the silver eyes is less about spamming magical energy and more tapping into Ruby's semblance to its fullest extent before speed blitzing Cinder and her pet grimm like a demented buzz saw.

He was not talking about Worm. He was using a fully fleshed out concept from Worm to speculate on a possible similar concept existing in RWBY. Not bringing Worm into this. Check yourself.

I am hoping Pyrrha is not dead.
No hear me out.
I just rewatched when Amber dies she left a body.
Pyrrha didnt.
Now that could be because she was burned to ash but that isnt how it looked she has the arrow which is glowing red then when Cinder puts her hand on her head she flashes orange and then breaks apart the whole time glowing orange which is not the usual effects of cinder. And we usually see Fire with Cinder as exampled by the whole fight. Yet this she just flashes.
We know the Aura transfer started to work maybe it did something to her so she cans survive this because the glow is the same one or very close to it as we saw from it.

I dont know if that is true or if it was just them killing her off in style but it would be interesting if Pyrrha comes back like a ghost or something to that effect. Maybe even a ghost at first nothing but Aura on the wind but later a Mech body like Penny.

Because the way Pyrrha died was not the way others have died it has effects that arent there normally.

I know this is a long shot but RWBY is kind of known for pulling weird stuff like this IE Maiden powers, Silver eyes so its not without some history.
And Pyrrha is a fan favorite so killing her off especially after her kiss with Jaune is ....yeah.

So here is hoping we get something.

I can't think of a single character who has died on screen in this show except Amber who everyone can accept is incontrovertibly dead.

I think people are just unused to the idea of characters dying in RWBY. Which makes it a real gut punch.

And also why I sort of hope Penny gets resurrected. At this point Ruby really needs a win. And Penny has a plausible excuse to come back from the dead.

Fucking whut.

Seriously, what the fuck is up with Ruby straight-up abandoning her team, especially Yang? Way to go, you ungrateful prick. This was a great time for some more bonding between Ruby and Yang. Sure we've heard from Yang that the two are incredibly close, but there are precious few scenes where we actually see it onscreen.

God, RT is terrible at pacing. This could have been a prime opportunity to let the plot breathe for a bit, show everyone recovering, the remains of JNPR coming to terms with Pyrrha's death, and a nice role-reversal with Ruby being the one to take care of Yang, who has been a great older sister and a sort-of surrogate mother after Summer died. But Noooooo, instead it's off to the next action sequence! Even most action-heavy shows know when it's appropriate to lay off the action.

So, surprising maybe five people, the incredibly obvious answer of who the Summer Maiden was was....Summer Rose. Who is indirectly confirmed dead, so now Ruby is the Summer maiden and the conglomeration of Maiden Powers into the main team has begun.

I dont know Ren's legend

Hua Mulan committed suicide rather than become the concubine of the Heshana Khan. So you have that to look forward to :V
Guys, Mercury's dad didn't disintegrate in the flashback. He's confirmed dead. Cinder probably sent Phyrra to Salem's dimension for experiments. That is also where Ozpin is.

....Screw you. No, really. Now you're making me imagine some sort of zombie Possession Grimm hijacked Pyrrha being sent out as a terminator after Team RNJR, and I'm not sure if I want this.

I don't know if you have siblings. But if you do I'd be very surprised if you didn't realize there were times that they want and need to be left alone.

Yang hasn't gotten any better between mid fall and, at least, early winter. Call it a month to three months. A good sibling will know when they can't help.

Besides which, there are things that need doing. Until Yang is ready to reach out to others to start healing Ruby is better off doing something productive with her time.

Which was my point our one example of a dead person doesnt die the same way and its very flashy. I edited some stuff so you may have missed it but the glow of her death looks like the same glow as her getting the power moved.
Also no she isnt the only one Merc's dad was killed in the cinder flashback and he left a body.
So we have 2 examples of death where there is a body left and one example where there isnt.

Now we can say Cinder burned Pyrrha to ash but I have to ask why bother? It doesnt strike me as being like Cinder to do that. It also lacked the usually visuals of cinder's powers. Pyrrha just flashed orange with a light shadow away from cinder with no visual effect that cinder had did anything outside of holding her head.
This is also contrasted by the fact the Arrow was glowing red particles not orange.

So I am not going to say its confirmed something fishy happened here but I am pointing out there is a VERY different effects going on here that we havent seen with 2 other examples, 3 if we count penny since she has Aura.

That scenario allows Juane to step up and free her with the power of love so I am all for it.

Dude, calm down.

I'll agree with your point that Ruby having some magic whether it's "Maiden" magic or something else, did just seem to pop up from nowhere.

Okay, so brief thought: if Cinder was frozen to death by Ruby's silver-eye thing, does that make Ruby the new Fall Maiden? Like... I really doubt Cinder's last thoughts were anything other than "THIS RUBY CHICK AND HER BULLSHIT." Boom. New maiden powers.

Didn't Yang just kind of wake up? The timeskip made it very unclear. As for Ruby, even if what you're saying is true, why not try to find Blake or get back Weiss? Let's say, for sake of argument, that Ruby did spend some time trying to get her other teammates back. The least RT could have done is have a throwaway line where Ruby says she's tried to get Weiss back and find Blake, but she isn't having any luck. As it is, it looks like Ruby doesn't care about her teammates, and is focused on revenge. Which itself wouldn't be such a bad thing if we were shown any evidence of that.
