RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

It's Youtube gossip. He said/she said with less oversight, more bitterness and a whole lot of echo-chambering.

Best not to feed the beast and try being a bit more level-headed about the whole thing.

I mean, it's good practice here on SV as well to summarize lengthy Youtube videos.
I did over there. I took the summary from this thread and posted it there, together with the videos. After that, I came back here and pasted the videos.

So, you did get the summary for that video, in the post I made just before that one. But I apparently didn't make that clear.

What bitterness? They don't personally care about Rooster Teeth; they're just reporting on news.

They point out the facts, and those facts paint a grim picture. Can you counter any of their claims?

Looking at the prior post, it doesn't seem like they're offering any substantive evidence, just cynical speculation. Volume 7 is announced and a little more than a month away, so this only seems like fear mongering, at least in regards to RWBY, the focus of the thread.

The question isn't whether I can counter their claims, but whether you can prove that the things you are claiming to be facts are actually factual.

I would actually like to take this opportunity to help you understand why people are being so dismissive of Clownfish, if you'll indulge me.

Tell me, when you look at the list of videos they've published, what do you see? How are the titles formatted and presented? What images are with those titles?

Here's Clownfish TV's most recent video on the matter.

Older videos covering Rooster Teeth situation, sorted from earlier to later.

I tried posting it in the Rooster Teeth thread over at Space-Battles, but so far everyone refuses to even watch the videos. They see Clownfish TV as a conspiracy theorist channel, completely unworthy of any consideration.

I have no idea why they have more faith in soulless corporations like Warner Brothers and Disney than in independent Youtubers who can actually GO OUT OF BUSINESS if they're caught lying.

Meanwhile, Disney had a whistleblower come out and accuse them of cooking their books, and the government finds it credible enough to say they'll investigate, and it was revealed one of their cruise line ships docked at "Epstein Island" (Little St. James Island).

The reason why people aren't watch it is because the summary you provided looked like basic shit stirring and "OMG ROOOSOTER TEETH IS FAIL AND DESTROYING EVERYTHING WE LUUV". Especially the bits where you said Geoff got demoted, which is patently false.

Also, YouTubers lie all the time and don't go out of business.

*Edit
Also, the video is typical clickbait shit based on the thumbnail.

I suspect even if something happened to Rooster Teeth- RWBY is what pays the bills these days and would be the last thing to go.

I mean... I kinda disagree with you. But I'm also interested by the reports of behind the scenes drama in the Let's Play family? Which I wasn't aware of?
Well there was their issues with Ray, where they stole his personal Twitch channel and turned it into a AH channel. That's why he quit. Then there's just the fact that a bunch of their videos dissolve into them yelling at each other, and not in a fun way.

Personally I just find their voices to be so annoying and their presentation to be so lackluster that it makes them unwatchable.

You judge books by covers, too, I guess.
We are talking about a video, not a book. The title and thumbnail generally present the mood and tone of the video.

On the topic of books, I don't read reviews or take a quick peak into the middle of the book's pages to see how it is. I take the calculated risk of the effort an author or illustrator puts into catching the reader at first glance. That often tells what the motives of the author is. So yes, I think about what I am doing and care about how much effort has been put into it. If I don't like it, then I'll put it onto my bookshelf and forget about it, if I do enjoy it, I find pleasure in my choice.

Eh, you're conflating the reasons he left. His personal channel was effectively confiscated because it was named something along the lines of Rooster Teeth Ray, despite being a personal channel—this was before RT formalized its streaming policy for its employees, and I think there were this contractual issues for using the company name on an individual endeavor. Of course, just because RT was in its rights to take umbrage, doesn't mean potential bad blood would be unjustified.

But really, the bigger reason for his departure was simple burnout and dissatisfaction with Achievement Hunter's content. There were episodes of Let's Play Minecraft where he outright fell asleep. It wasn't really drama that forced the split, though I'm sure it contributed.

It also isn't really a good analogy, because often the author and whoever designed and signed off on the cover are different people. But the person who's going to be talking in that Youtube video is (very likely) the same one as the one who made the thumbnail for it, and so it is in fact a lot more fair to judge the contents by the thumbnail and title.

Hence my mentioning of the illustrator (book cover) and the author who (in my assumption) makes the title, subtitle and the summary in the back of most books. I know some people use artists to make thumbnails on YouTube, but I doubt the video maker did that considering how I could do that in MS Paint.

Geoff and Burnie have both been demoted.
Okay, this is somewhat inaccurate. While Burnie has stepped down from his role as Chief Creative Officer to a producer role, Geoff, if anything, has moved up.

But none of this is really all that relevant to RWBY, so I'm gonna post about the new issue of the RWBY comic which had some excellent Yang content

Is that why there are so many Wild West A.U's?

Edit:

So
Potions and stuff are a thing apparently... Neat...
