RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Question.

If she's already shown that she didn't even care for their reasons before they stole the ship, then why would she even bother to give them the time of day? She already made up her mind and them stealing the ship only solidified that opinion, and even if Ruby told her about the relics she wouldn't actually believe them.

Not to mention the possibility that Ruby wouldn't use the Djinn to try and convince her for fear of using the last question prematurely.

So yeah. Both sides are being unreasonable to an extent here, but Ruby's the only one at least attempting to bridge the gap. It's just that it's way too late for that kind of thing since they already committed the crime, and Cordovin would never have given them the time of day in the end.
Well they do have the relic as a form of proof, just summon Jinn make sure no asks a question and then explain the situation.

But she would still more than likely not believe them. Especially if they try to keep her from asking a question to verify their claims, which will no doubt make her assume that it's a show that they're putting on to try and trick her.

Cordovin is a really suspicious person. Do you really believe that she'll believe them just after seeing Jinn?

You think even for a moment that RT could be learning, and then they just upscale a Beowulf and call it a Leviathan.
Also, dear lord, nothing in that giant robot fight made sense, and I'm failing to find words to describe it.

Well then.

Adam dead. Woohoo I guess? I wanted Weiss to react to his brand. Maybe Yang'll talk about it later.

And that Leviathan with the horde of Gryphons... Not sure they can take kt on.

No one who falls off a cliff is dead if we don't see the body. No it doesn't matter how dead they looked before hand. I mean Darth Maul is in a new Star Wars movie and he got cut in half and Cinder 'Falls' to her death whole frozen solid.

Darth Maul is in a new SW movie?

Also, Cinder surviving was simply bs.

Yep he was in Solo and before that he was in The Clone Wars cartoon with spider legs. And yes it was BS just like Cinder but that doesn't matter as everyone knows; no body, not dead. The entire literary purpose of tossing someone off a cliff is that you want a chance to bring them back later.

And even if she believes them she would probably try to take the Relic for the glory of Atlas

I don't think this is spoilers, but anyway

: Recall that Wiess had a public mental breakdown and tried to murder someone during a fundraiser for those who died in the defense of Beacon, and in response Jacques disinherited her. Yes there is a lot more to it than that, but basically none of the behind-the-scenes stuff is available to the general public. For all Cordovin knows, Weiss is mentally unstable and can't be trusted. And Qrow has zero proof he's friends with Ironwood. Hell, with how he treated Ironwood like garbage in v3, even if his letter did get through, it would be perfectly understandable for Ironwood to send back a simple "no" reply and he wouldn't be wrong to do so. Who's to say Qrow wouldn't cause chaos in Atlas like he did at Beacon, publicly picking fights and trying to humiliate Atlas every step of the way.

Now of course the audience knows that Qrow probably wouldn't do that because he's just so done with everything after finding out that being Oz's 'yes man' for decades was pointless, but Ironwood has no way of knowing that. Like I'm not saying Cordovin is wholly in the right and there are a lot of things she could have done better, but refusing to listen to the mentally-unstable heiress and her friends isn't a bad thing on its own.

I really wish they would stop being so noncommittal with crap like that. Especially since pretty much nobody wanted to see Cinder come back from that last season, let alone Adam in this one.
Course, that's not the only problem with the Adam fight. I was really hoping that Yang would use her power in some other way besides just catching his sword. This is pretty much the same situation as her fight with Neo: She can't hit an enemy that's too fast for her, and it's made even worse because they're figuring out ways of using that strength to make her hurt herself. Back then, I thought what should've happened is that Yang should've used her Hulk/SSJ strength to start tearing up the train car, hitting everything around Neo so that she can't redirect it back at Yang. That probably could've happened here, too.

I'd wager there's a much higher chance she has heard of the battle of haven a month ago than that she's acutely familiar with drama that happened at some tournament ages ago.

Either way, There's no argument for how utterly refusing diplomacy and making it impossible could make what happens next not her fault

I have no idea why a giant killer robot was necessary against clearly not hostile opponents either.

So... there are only one or two episodes left, right? I'm not convinced they can wrap this up in that time without it feeling totally contrived. Even if both episodes are a half-hour long, that still is rushing things.

I know there's a lot to talk about this episode and I don't want to be an annoying shipper but we have flat out reached the level where Adam sees Yang as his romantic rival/replacement. That's pretty balant.

The newest episode isn't even half of thirty.

So they have one episode left, and even if it says the runtime is 30 minutes, 5 to 10 of that will ne devoted to credits and Gen:lock.

That or Adam cannot understand why Yang would be friends with someone like Blake. It works both ways you see.

Hoooly shit!

Ok that was freaking intense kudos I did not expect it to go down that way but dang, that was fantastic! Really awesome fight with the mech, Ruby's final plan was clever but before that others contributed well and you could really feel the despair they were facing with how the fight was going.

My old views on Yang's fighting style remains but regardless I did love her counter here and yes her Semblance is back baby woooh!

Also Adam's jealous Ex energy was in full force, so glad he got so handily refuted each time he tried. Also wow, Aura broken and still climbing a mountain, Blake has core strength for days! Also wow, I did not expect Adam to die like that, and Blake's breakdown oof, feels, and the ensuing hug was well needed mega feels.

Also I loved Yang keying in on the fact Adam was a lying scumbag and had been pretending to be someone else to Blake. She was always good at reading this kind of thing so it fits she could see between the lines.

Also I am genuinely curious how they are gonna deal with the Grimm Horde, Ruby has silver eyes but that feels too easy to deal with everything and her, Blake & Yang's Aura's are low or outright broken.

Also it occurred to me but Argus probably has other Hunters hanging out there, maybe not lots but it'd be neat to have several just pop out of hotels, bars and homes and be like "Ah fuck we are not letting this fall like Beacon"

I know what I'm about.

Though admittedly it's to a large degree me liking when something I spotted but was unconfirmed is slowly but surely confirmed.

Blake's VA did a livestream where she pretty much confirmed it's canon, more or less.

Someone on the thread pointed out that Roosterteeth knows it's fanbase, particularly how it gets about shipping and would probably not let her say stuff like this if it wasn't true to some extent. And she probably wouldn't tease anyways unless she was teasing something that was real.

You know, if BB becomes canon it's further proof that Miles&Kerry cannot write healthy relationships. Several people have pointed out similarities between Adam and Yang, and I think it's rather appropriate. But they have missed some. Like Yang whining to Weiss "What if I needed her there for me?" After Weiss suggests that Blake probably has her own good reasons for leaving. So proof that she is more concerned about Blake paying attention to her than Blake's own needs. Then we get how she rudely brushes off both of Blake's attempts at reassurance while refusing to tell Blake why she's angry at her. Like Blake clearly wants to protect those important to her, but since it's not what Yang wants to hear she rudely ignores Blake's attempt at reconciliation. Blake wanting to protect Yang is treated as an insult.
We have Yang simply brushing off Blake telling her how Adam made her weak. The only reason the two are finally reconciling is because Blake happened to say the right thing completely by accident and they're riding high off emotion. Since Adam has ripped open old wounds both with his attack itself and trying to break the two down, it looks like Blake is desperately accepting any kind of support, no matter the source.
And I bet the writers won't address any of these unfortunate implications either.

As for Arryn... at the end of the day, she's still not one of the writers of the show. I admit the prospect of BB is becoming more and more likely as the episodes wear on, but that doesn't make it a good relationship, and I dearly hope the writers are pulling a fast one, or that if they do hook up they will part ways in a volume or two. Probably when they go to Vacuo and she runs into a monkey faunus who actually puts her own needs before himself. Like @Mook said, a relationship confirmed doesn't have to happen at the finale, and you can do interesting things with a concurrent relationship. They're still young and the series is about midway through; there's plenty of time for other relationships to develop.
