RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Actually, you know that pamphlet that Weiss produced to Ruby in Volume 1? Where she told Rubes to read it and never speak to her again? Powdered Dust is pretty much Remnant's nitroglycerin. It's noted to provide a much more energetic reaction,at the expense of being EXTREMELY easy to trigger said reaction. Crystalline Dust, meanwhile,is noted to be relatively stable, requiring a pretty extreme external force (Like a micro rocket,or direct Aura application...) to make react, for a lower yield.

Also, while many people can keep pace with Mercury,he's one of the few people who displayed the reaction speed required to kick Ruby square in the face, while she was using her Semblance. Physical speed isn't the factor in dodging a lance charge; It's reaction time; How quick the brain works.

True I had forgotten about that.
The issue with reaction time is the time involved. I made a LONG post on this subject in HalkO which boils down to the longer you have time to react the more likely you can react. With a charge like this you need room to build up speed that room will give time to react because the user cant go from 0 to 60 in a second so there will be time to react. Especially if you see the charge speed before.
Also I wonder how many people could catch ruby outside of Merc we really dont see anyone try so its hard to say if Merc is the only one who would catch her or not.
Basically if anyone had aheads up or can see the build up they should be able to counter. Maybe not fully but with each pass they will dial in the speed more and the range.

So! Who wants one of my simpler weapons? To lighten the mood; Nobody likes looking at ashes. Well, except for maybe Chandra... Or Jaya Ballard,Task Mage.

I just came up with a RWBY weapon off the top of my head. It's a War Hammer, but the head can expand into what basically amounts to a wood chipper on a stick. Excellent for a cruel and unusual death.

It would be a very f*cked up character who would use a weapon so pointlessly gory. Banesaw at least has the excuse that, being a terrorist and all, the downsides of using a weapon as impractical as a chainsaw is at least partially balanced out by the intimidation factor.

Not necessarily, it could be good for dealing with Grimm. And at least a human opponent for someone using it would presumably have an aura to protect them, so they probably won't die immediately.

I actually have a wooden mock up of this not the greatest piece but I was bored and had left overs from another project so it didnt take me long at all.

Its a pistol with an attachment on the top that allows a whip with a blade on the tip to slide out very much like here or here and yes its based off of the combat cross from Castlevania lords of shadows.
It would offer quick shots from the gun while flexible heavy hits from the whip.

Quick question.

Was I the only one who started singing 'You Give Love a Bad Name' when Pyrrha got shot?
It felt surprisingly appropriate in that moment.

So, as messed up as it is, this is kind of what I'm expecting Cinder's childhood to have been like if Salem was her 'fairy god mother - evil step mum'. Seriously at this point, and given Cinder's "managing of Emerald" I am fully expecting maximum messed up-ness.

There is so much implied wrong in this given Cinder's age and the tags and yet it fits so well.
