RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

A Wizard who had no long-term plan
A Lion who lost their courage
A Tin Man who abandoned his heart
A Crow whose brain was addled by liquor

What can we expect from Theodore? The novels showcased him as a clever man who intentionally plays up the image of the brainless boisterous bruiser.

Well, what were core traits of Dorothy?
Take whatever that is, and twist it.

Quick question:
How long do people consider Ironwood to have been Commanding General of the Atlesian Armed Forces? The last fic I've read had him in command for at least ten full years prior to canon.

Hmm, good question, given some of the dialogue I kinda get the impression that while he's been there "Awhile" its not like he's been there for "ages" if that makes sense, but that he was likely in these circles longer than he was either general or headmaster, whichever came first.

The impression I had was that he started off as one of Ozpin's crew. Then based on field performance Ozpin appointed him as Atlas Academy director, and he fell upward from there. A perfect example of the Peter Principle.

Nah, they don't act or talk like Oz is the one who put him in charge, which you can be sure Glynda or Qrow would have brought up in Volume 2 or 3.

To be fair, a lot of stuff that would have been brought up just don't.

Remember, we didn't know that Ruby knew that Jaune killed Penny until the commentary came out. We didn't know that Neo's Semblance evolved because she fell into the Brothers' creation place until the commentary came out.

Hell, we didn't know Weiss knew Watts until the fucking Justice League crossover came out.

That one seemed pretty obvious when she started to do things that surprised herself.
This, also honestly given how the Ever After responds to emotions I never needed this explained it made sense without anything else.

Much in the same way I was pretty damn confident Ruby knew what happened cos CRWBY never like to explain things the audience knows.

Honestly I always kind of got the vibe Ironwood 'had' to be brought in by necessity of becoming headmaster as opposed to being invited in.

Though I do think Ironwood got promoted passed his competence.

I believe they're talking about the why it evolved not that it had evolved. It having done so was plainly clear as you said, but I don't think there's anyone out there who thought it had anything to do with the Brother Gods or where she landed in the Ever After.

Yeah, basically this. Where was there any indicator that this was where the Gods were?

For Ironwood I think he was military first.
Then the spot for headmaster opened up and had Atlas Approval to take the job.
As the headmaster and with a good approval rate Oz let's Ironwood in, much to Qrow's annoyance.

Ironwood is the newest in the Ozluminati, so he can't of been headmaster for more than I'd say 5 years.

Also is injuries were likely before taking the headmaster role.
