RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

I wasn't happy about the ending of volume 8 and not to mention the entire clusterfuck with RT so I was on the fence about springing for Crunchyroll but realizing this meant I could also watch Spy x Family helped prompt the choice.

My feelings on the whole concept of the Otherworld are very much in line with a lot of RWBY's other magical elements like the Maidens, Gods, and relics. I would've liked it better if this stuff had been referenced or incorporated much earlier.

I do like the designs of the otherworld and it's inhabitants, the mice were especially adorable, Little must be protected at all costs. Enjoyed the opening with Ruby being overwhelmed with everything happening, show's how chaotic the thing was, especially for our heroine. Also on a strange note I enjoyed Neo's from 'Hell's heart I stab at thee' moment.

Even though I had seen spoilers on tumblr seeing Yang's reaction to seeing Ruby and her friends still hurt. That's not even touching on Ruby's reaction to Penny's death. I feel you girl, though like others I hope that the mystery girl turns out to be Penny. The beeunion was the emotional equivalent of a cup of warm coco with fireball, sweet and warming.

I didn't see many ways, just entirely :D

Sorry but I am preening and overjoyed about having this confirmed by the characters themselves, I am never going to shut up, I am that bitch now.

Please watch Space Whiterose next. I promise its really good!

I sort of get that but also sort of feel it being introduced too early would undermine the shock factor for the characters and audience; this stuff is meant to be very alien and out of reach to them and that doesn't work if we know about it off the cuff.

I fucking love how dramatic and bombastic the mouse leader was, and yes, Little is a precious perfect bean and I love them! Neo's obsession will destroy her, or the world, or both, and I am here to see how it all goes down XD

Mhm, I do love it though, yeees girl, show me all your self sacrificial tendencies, let us see how fucked up you are by your devotion to others. Oof, yeah that moment, and her cold clamping down on it afterwards. I find it unlikely given she perfectly resembles Alyx from the stories and is overlaid with Neo as well as Ruby; not impossible mind, but still. Tackle Hugs, gotta love it.

That's the one, plus a few other posts.
Like this one perchance?

I plan to!

Call it out burn from years worth of bad shock bait and subverted expectations but I'm tired of being surprised. Furthermore I think that a lot of the cognitive dysfuntion and polaritzation in the fanbase might have been averted if the show had been upfront about what kind of story it was trying to be earlier on imo.

Personally I hope Neo get's a redemption arc rather than dying myself or at least aligning with RWBY against Cinder...though not without an awesome battle with RWBY.

Alyx?

Alyx?

"Alyx" is the name of the lead character in the Remnant story "The Girl Who Fell Through The World". The story is brought up by Oscar and Ozpin in V8, while the character name is reveal in the novel "Roman Holiday" that gives us the backstory of Roman Torchwick and Neopolitan.
With the info given people speculated that it was a Remnant version of "Alice In Wonderland". Now with what we see in V9 we have found a Wonderland. Then in the opening we have a mystery girl in a blue dress with a bow/ribbon in her hair. Thus people speculate that this mystery girl who we have only seen in the Opening so far is this Alyx.

also, welcome back.

So, while we're starting V9, our favourite Tumblr reactor reached a critical moment in V4. Namely, Ruby explaining to Tyrian that leaving a limb in gun-scythe range after seriously wounding her beloved uncle is a formal invitation to have said limb removed via the previously mentioned gun-scythe.

He reacted about how you'd expect.

This one is going to be fun to see them remember next time:

Apparently it's 'selfish' of her.

In an EP where we again see reminders Yang cares about her, and it was acknowledged she raised Ruby in many ways, this is especially laughable
Leaving aside how weird some people get when they see a show build up a gay romance that wasn't made 1000% clear from moment one, cause that's kind an old hat in Bumblebee discourse by this point. I've noticed there's a subset of people who don't like the relationship because they think it messes with the team dynamic, somehow. It's supposed to be a group of four BFFS to them or something.

Which like, no, why would it? Like it's been explicit since Volume 7 and probably true longer before that, that team RWBY very much views themselves as a family of choice. Every member of the team cares a lot for every other member of the team but like they don't care for each other exactly the same, Yang and Ruby are sisters so naturally their relationship is gonna be different than Yang's relationship with Weiss, but as their reunion in Volume 5 showed, the two still care deeply about each other. So I don't see how Blake and Yang being romantically involved would mess up the dynamic.

She's earned that.
And some people will call it another asspull because it wasn't spelled out minute one.
I see her just not talking about it and ignoring it, hoping no one says anything about it.
Why do they keep doing this to us!?
