RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

My Reaction to the newest episode, gosh its good to have this show back, like a pressure has eased off my chest, or I just started a meal after being famished.

RWBY Volume 9 - Episode 1: My reaction

I was getting so worried cos I kept getting "Cannot access videos at this time" Guess it wouldn't be a RWBY premier if we didn't overload the website XD Oh gosh I usually increase the play speed so…

Welcome boys, girls, and assorted mice to the other side. The hiatus is over!
- Little over here stealing team mascot from Zwei.
- Couldn't Weiss just use her glyphs to reach Gambol Shroud?
- Jabberwocky is voiced by Pilot Boi!
- Loved mob boss Neo in the opening.
- Ruby is suffering Ithe volume!

They are not subtle about Ruby's trauma.

Everyone else in the opening: Growing happier and happier.
Ruby

"Hello darkness my old friend"

This is probably my second favorite moment of the episode after the Bee Tackle Hug, Third being Ruby acknowledging that Yang raised her. I love the reminders that Weiss is a giant dork.

So I have a long standing worry that some studio executive is preventing Bumblebee from ever being directly confirmed cause studios are cool with gay side characters but gay main characters are a different story, see Owlhouse. Admittedly the creators have confirmed Blake is bi so I might be being silly. Anyways, I do think that Tackle hug is another example of how absurd it is for people to act like it's not thing when it very clearly is.

some thoughts on the new opening
- anyone else catch those 2 blue wisps flying down as the volume logo came on screen? Ambro and Jinn?
- for Alyx.
1 - her belt strap has colors tied to each of Team RWBY
2 - during the falling shot showing all the Ever After cast when we get to Alyx we see her in a mirror, or rather a "Looking glass", and there is a shadow figure with her (and the figure has glasses)
- looks like the opening sets Neo as the "Final Boss" for the volume. Yeah I don't think she is getting out of the Ever After.
- while not in the short version, the full version seems to have a section with a line or 2 for each member of Team RWBY

the full opening with lyrics

I do like that the show clearly realized that it was both on a time limit and had already done both the time scattered and the team broken up into groups. It didn't rush them getting back together but it made did sprint to it.

Also I also like how they're trying to figure things out instead of just wandering around confused. Like it's clear they've given things some thought they just are so out of their depth that they can't do much more than broad theories. Though Yang thinking she's legit dead does make her reunion with the rest of the team rather (though briefly) horrifying.

I said Neon convinced them. I didn't say how.

And again, Team RWBY, the group that was constantly saving citizens and whose leader even did a broadcast explaining what the conflict was and who, along with allies, were getting people to safety. Of course such people would suddenly set off an explosion on a platform during the evacuation they were leading. And now said team is here in this bizarre place, too. Yes it is clearly their fault.

Also keep in mind that they have no idea who blew them up in the first place and that these guys were willing to lynch Penny and possibly Nora had the air not been cleared by Ironwood. They don't have the same information about Cinder and Neo as we do.

All Neo would have to do would be like "nah, they led you into a trap" and boom, they hate them now.

Are you talking about the riots and evacuation scene near the end of V7?
They were going to go after Penny and Nora because they were seen as working for Atlas, i.e. the kingdom lead by IRONWOOD that has had a boot to their head for many months now and in the last few days amped up the pressure.
And it wasn't just Ironwood who "cleared the air", it was the fact that Mantle's beloved Robyn Hill was on the screen with him and her lie detector semblance in full view and showing that Ironwood, in that moment, was speaking truthfully and in a way the people could not dispute.

So please, stop trying to twist thing.

The Mad Hatter Tea Party is very much NOT going to be random Solitas Civilians that Neo has turned against our heroes.

Ah, I see we're going with the marvel universe style of gullible civilians.
