    We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

    That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

    So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

    In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

    Or how they spend half the post ranting about very specific examples and over exaggerating them to make strawmen, especially once they start implying "all anime is fanservice schlock except our 'I can't believe it's not butter anime' because it is better", especially since they edited in some weirdass comments like "funny how the straight white male characters get killed off?" when that's just bullshit and he knows it considering Jaune, Ren, Taiyang, and Ghira (to name a few) are still alive.

    granted to a chunk of the fandom, of those 4 men only Ghira is "straight".

    Don't share Canonseeker's stuff, he's a proven stalker and harasser of multiple women who uses alt accounts to ban evade people so he can keep hounding them, alongside lying about other people in order to instigate harassment against them by usually exaggerating what they say in order to make them look bad (coincidentally most of his frequent targets are women or people of color).

    If you get a vaguetweet about you by Arnold you're not a very good person, let's put it that way.

    He changes it every time people catch him because he's a chronically insecure 30-something manchild who wants to keep being allowed to whine about critics and stalk women, all while being a shining example of why deplatforming is a necessary action.

    People like him are a blight on the fandom and only further encourage the petty turf wars alongside their incessent need to spark harassment campaigns against anyone who criticises RWBY. Please don't share their stuff or platform them.

    Though on to more lighter subjects, since Arrowfell is coming out soon, anyone have any speculations regarding plot details?

    Hmm, from memory RWBY are collecting weird items, we see a Grimm come back to life after its killed, there's some kind of guy in a warehouse with possibly a bomb and a businessman in a mech.

    If I had to guess, RWBY probably fight some Grimm influenced by this stange tech, they try and trace it back to its source and encounter the 'culprits' in the form of workers/rebels for a company but RWBY are actually being pointed at them rather than them being the actual threat, IE the CEO who when uncovered decides to go down fighting.

    Yeah Ren isn't white, and I sure as hell doubt Tai Yang Xiao Long is either.

    I tend to think there's a lot of disingenuousness surrounding that 'controversy' from certain strains of 'fans' looking for something to complain about while ignoring how most anime protagonists who are meant to be Japanese, you know, look in anime.

    There is. His blocklist. All anyone who's called him out in the past and gotten blocked has to do is try and check and if they're blocked with no prior interaction. If so, it's his old account and he just changed the name.

    You're right, STYOKun shouldn't have been harassed off any platforms, but the problem remains of maniacs like Answerseeker and the people who enable him by downplaying the severity of his actions because they're aimed at the "Right targets," so people need to know to avoid him so he can't harass more people.

    That's generally a good thing to do if you have a conscience.

    Ah yes, Mukokuseki (funny enough, it contains examples where this it's not the norm in anime). In which depicting a Japanese character while making them distinct from the other characters (at least that's one of the theories for why this is a thing).

    And, as a plot twist, RWBY does this too.

    The funnier part to all this is that I was bringing more attention to the first part to that line's triple barreled blast of "straight white male".

    Sun is an especially pertinant example to the whole thing of "The cast should be more racially diverse but instead almost everyone of the core original cast is just white" because he's objectively been whitewashed since the Poser seasons. Compare his skin tone in Volumes 1-3 to his appearance in 4-6 or his model in Chibi and you would not know he's meant to be Chinese outside of his name. He's whiter than a goddamn snowstorm in Chibi especially. His whitewashing went so far they changed his eye color so he'd look more conventionally Caucasian.

    I think that makes a lot of sense myself and lines up well with the cast and setting in general, as well as being fitting given the series creator.
