RWBY Thread III: Time To Say Goodbye

Stop: So gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
so gotta few things that need to be said real quick.
We get a lot of reports from this thread. A lot of it is just a series of people yelling at each other over arguments that have been rehashed hundreds of times since the end of the recent Volume. And I get that the last Volume - and RWBY in general, really - has some controversial moments that people will want to discuss, argue about, debate, etc.

That's fine. We're not going to stop people from doing that, because that's literally what the point of the thread is. However, there's just a point where it gets to be a bit too much, and arguments about whether or not Ironwood was morally justified in his actions in the recent Volume, or if RWBY and her team were in the right for withholding information from Ironwood out of distrust, or whatever flavor of argument of the day descend into insulting other posters, expressing a demeaning attitude towards other's opinions, and just being overall unpleasant. That tends to happen a lot in this thread. We want it to stop happening in this thread.

So! As of now the thread is in a higher state of moderation. What that means is that any future infractions will result in a weeklong boot from the thread, and repeated offenders will likely be permanently removed. So please, everyone endeavor to actually respect the other's arguments, and even if you strongly disagree with them please stay civil and mindful when it comes to responding to others.

In addition, users should refrain from talking about off-site users in the thread. Bear in mind that this does not mean that you cannot continue to post tumblr posts, for example, that add onto the discussion in the thread, with the caveat that it's related to RWBY of course. But any objections to offsite users in the thread should be handled via PM, or they'll be treated as thread violations and infracted as such.

Even better: Salem actually streams her real self in her throne room and everyone is impressed by the level of realism of her "model" and "background". Ozma is frothing in frustration at being the only one to know that it's all real.

Drastic action will need to be taken, and only one thing can be done. It's too much to ask of anyone else, he'll have to do it himself.

Oh those comments he's leaving on her channel. SO snarky.

I like the art style. Styokun has a very expressive style. And I'm friends with a few of the extra members of the crew. Hope this goes well for them and they don't get dogpilled by the usual elements.

No such project has ever actually been dogpiled, people who come onto RWBY discussion threads and insist "This persons story outline where Roman calls Weiss a boy cos her chest is flat and Ren a girl cos his hair is long is so much better than canon!" get told by others they don't like it & why.

Honestly I don't see why these projects can't just call themselves AU's like normal people do their fanfiction and I find the styles a little (Waves hand) Off by a touch, but it seems harmless and I do like the line work and fashion elements for the moment, so I hope they enjoy their fanfic.

Errr... this story does call itself an AU, look at the twitter links posted by ArtFartCop.

I'm not too sure about that.

Unless demanding RT to copyright strike a project and bringing up a post from who outright claimed they didn't watch the Rewrite and decided to take a screen shot out of context to paint their agenda, both of which were not prompted by someone coming onto the thread and saying how they liked the Rewrites or how they're better than canon, don't count as dogpiles.

Did... Did you actually read my post, or the one I was responding too, because artfartcop was clearly implying the creators of such AU fanfics had been harassed, snippy jokes on a forum they aren't on aren't that, also making an observation on what's happening on screen isn't taking something out of context for an agenda.

It is if they're taking a picture of two characters and implying "lol this is shipping Rosewick" and tagging the post with "misogyny in hatedom" (of which is unprompted beyond the baseless accusation that Roman is somehow the main character and not just Oscar's replacement), all while ignoring what the actual discussion was about and blatantly claiming they skipped the video.

Yes, they're "making an observation", but an extremely blind, misinformed, biased one. And one that can lead to the harassment @ArtFartCop is talking about if they have a following.

I'm just gonna remind everyone of this gem from the same series: "This persons story outline where Roman calls Weiss a boy cos her chest is flat and Ren a girl cos his hair is long is so much better than canon!"

And move on, cos the reason it was taken as such and tagged as such should be blatantly obvious from the above alone, let alone the rest of the that outlines content, and also the creator still isn't victim of dogpiling due to that.

Anyway I am off to bed, but, Why does X like the Bees so much?

That's an odd take. I could see some interesting AU possibilities centered on Qrow being Ruby's dad, but no reason why it should have been that way in canon and taking that to the point of threatening to doxx someone is ... yeah. Even if it wasn't immoral, it would still raise serious questions about their ability to maintain a stable working relationship with others.

Thanks for posting this.

Qrow discourse is cursed, and it would have been better if the character was never written or performed.
