1) babies should absolutely get to choose their families, we must develop prediction algorithms able to correctly guess who they will have wanted to pick
2) by all means have Gōketsu adopt orphan babies. Only good things can come of this.
No, we just have to find a way to make dead-Orochimaru legally classified as an orphan baby.

@Halberdier I had asked questions regarding wether certain things happened off screen. And I asked about Kagome's XP gain. I didn't see them in your list. Should I add them myself?

@Velorien

These two things are from the winning plan of the chapter before we met Naruto. Both don't really have any immediate political implications.
Did either of them happen off screen?

@eaglejarl Do you track Kagome's XP gain? Are his plans any good over in Kagome quest? Because getting him to S-rank would be the best way to accomplish your challenge I think.
And if XP thrives on challenges, then he should get the most out of solving unusual social interactions in novel non-lethal ways.

I also thought of at least one more relatively urgent question: Did our siblings tell us what exactly Tsunade said about Mari while we had that PTSD attack? If yes, what did they say?

Did the Elemental Nations ever launch any autonomous expeditions anywhere, preferably with some sort of introductory plaque?

If we did we just need to go find it and get Snek Uncle's soul back :)

I think it kinda does. The bad part is that she is doing it to her own village, right? Infiltrating your own village, depending on the specifics, is just normal politics. Significantly better than assassination in your own village.
Halo! I've just realized I never actually said welcome to you!

Welcome! :D

We do not track the NPCs' XP on a per-update basis. Every once in a while we say "Oh, yeah, we should do that." Then we figure out how long it's been in-game since they last got points, multiple their daily by the days, and go.

The magic of summoning
You have reminded us that the Pangolins have been entirely too lax with Keiko. Sorry for forgetting; we'll fix it.

Oh this reminds about that one merchant we strongarmed into dealing with us back in Leaf. I don't think anyone's brought that up in a while.
Which one is that? There were two in Mist, but I'm not sure which one you mean in Leaf.

The people he was selling guns to were not strictly dependent on him and him alone for guns, presumably. Also, extrapolating from fictional evidence.

Both valid points.

You know, seals degrade over time. Could the Pangolins hold their current position indefinitely were their supply of seals to be cut off? Presumably not, but we should verify that. If they can't hold, what are the likely results?

In other words, we lose big by not selling them seals (no more Pangolin gold), but how much do they lose if we don't sell them seals? Are they back to status quo ante bellum, or will life become much more difficult for them?

How did this happen? My understanding from Canon was that the village formed from clans banding together for mutual protection not to serve a dictator.
Eh thing is most clans joined in under Hashirama's leadership, so really having a powerful, charismatic leader to lead the village sort of had a precedent set in due to that.

Funny thing is though, the clans actually have more of a say on who becomes hokage in MfD then they did in canon. At least they get to vote here, in canon the members of the elder council, which was like three people plus the hokage, chose their candidates and presented the ninja to become hokage to the fire daiyamo, who while technically had final say just went along with who the council chose. So in canon a small room of about 2 to 6 people chose the new leader of the village with no real input from anyone else.

5 ninjas (the Elder Council, Jonin Commander, and the ANBU Commander). Plus 5 other people who are presumably secretaries or some shit.

Ignore this post, please.

Hazou, Keiko, and Noburi are 14 as of this post. Akane is 16 as of this post.

Don't tell me what to do.

Why do we keep calling them dictators? They seem to function more like an elective monarchy.
"I will shove a Rasengan through the face of the next person who interrupts me." Jiraiya's voice was calm, almost friendly, and all the more terrifying for it.

"Politics, duh," Noburi said. "Tsunade was just done telling us what she thinks of Mari-sensei going for the hat. This is important stuff, so pay attention, all right?"

"Oh," Hazō said. "Sorry?"

"Now I'm not fond of repeating myself, kid," Tsunade said impatiently. "I'm behind on Leaf politics. How many of the neutral votes do you reckon you can swing within the next week?"

@Velorien - I wasn't live when the updates dropped, but was this in the original posting for this chapter, or was it edited in after the fact? Mostly wondering how much it was killing you/the other QMs to have this detail be largely missed/ignored until the most recent infodump.

Another question, sorry. Do we know the relative population of voting clan vs non voting clans? I would assume the latter is larger due to the number of dead and semi dead clans (uchiha, senju, etc) but a tradition of adoption could sway that I suppose.

Problem is that non-ablative armor is a pretty big deal, so he would only be able to use it in situations where there will be no survivors, or which are important enough to violate OPSEC. Although maybe we could sell it as part of
PCJ and Ghost Scales are both ablative.

I also don't see why we would expect to hit S-rank ever, and certainly not in short order. I'm kind of dubious that we might even hit Jonin rank, actually.

Like, the last time our whole band, together, with an NPC helping, fought a Jonin she killed our squad leader without trying hard and the rest of us only lived so she could send a snarky message to our bosses.
We trained with Gai once (who is not S-rank, just a jonin), and it was so one sided the QM's montaged it, just us getting pummeled over and over.

The only fighting technique we have that is unique is our deception based fighting style that I honestly think hasn't been used for half the thread.

I guess that's all in the past, maybe we are fiercer now, but I think it has been less than a week since Noburi fought Hinata (who is weaker than Neji, who is weaker than Hiashi, who is weaker than an S rank), and he got utterly chumped. The idea that he is going to be S-rank in the near term strikes me as just, like, I don't even understand why it would be plausible. It feels like saying Iruka is about to be a Kage.

My basic read on 'powerhouse' status is that the villages are:

Villages that still have their Jinchuuriki > Leaf (we are just like the other villages minus half our Jonin but plus more Seal Scrolls than I think anyone else has) > Mist. (no Kage, no tailed beast, no Seal Scrolls we know of, big jonin losses)

Akatsuki is the spoiler. Each of them is a big factor, and if they all work together they are kingmaker in the coming war.

Another spoiler is that our aunt has the eyes from the leader of Akatsuki. If she gets the 'raise the dead' jutsu working it would of course be checkmate for everyone else in short order, but it isn't entirely clear how feasible that is.

My hope for us becoming a powerhouse would be that Inoue is heading off to make friends with an ex-Akatsuki member, or that there are synergies from one village having a half dozen summon scrolls that weren't obvious in the past.
Hazō is actually more impressive than you might think. He can put up big numbers for a short period, and he's got several unusual tricks -- not everyone has a fighting style, macerators are (so far as he is aware) unique to your team. Jiraiya's Goo Bombs are also unique, although now irreplaceable. Kagome has a version but he's not as good a sealmaster so his isn't as strong.

As to Noburi: yes, Hinata chumped him, but the Hyūga are OP and she's a terrible matchup for him. Also, he made a bad training decision. Instead of sinking all his XP into learning a super cool jutsu that he didn't have XP to raise to a useful level, he should have put his points into his fundamentals -- Water Whip and Athletics. He would have been much more effective if he had.

Mist does have a Kage; Ren survived. They also have a jinchūriki, Utakata, the 6Tails. Like Naruto, Utakata is malnourished, dehydrated, traumatized, and exhausted, but he's still a jinchūriki and one of the more powerful ones.

As to Ren having Pain's eyes, why do you think that?

It was in there originally. And yes, we've been a bit gobsmacked that there was no mention of it to start with.

Will check.
