I can't help but wonder if you all aren't underestimating Jiraiya's instinctual fear of commitments

HIRUZEN: It seems we have another two children in the academy this year with white hair and distinctive facial markings.

JIRAIYA: Must be something in the water.

HIRUZEN: I'm sure it is.

JIRAIYA: Yep.

HIRUZEN: Sigh. At least you aren't drinking sake by the bucket every night or stealing orphans to dissect...

FTFY :V

And the women are getting paid hush money? Must be why Jiraiya is so poor. He has to pay all those child support.

No, we haven't.

Explosives aren't involved.
Okay.

We create a seal that can be targeted with killing intent.

Spookify it at range, causing it to activate nearby seals.

Bam. Seal activation at the speed of thought.

For best usage, we diversify and make a bunch that respond to a wide variety of emotions.

Network everything reasonably into THE SUIT.

Presto chango: You are now OP combat god.

.

This but seriously. Killing Intent is a way to (apparently) instantly and mentally project chakra in a way one can modulate at will across line of sight distance.

The opportunity for munchinkery is unlimited. I both hope that this is and isn't the potential win-button it sounds like.

Joking aside: I am 100% serious.

With every meme, the CHAOS suit grows stronger.

Soon it will be the KAOS suit.

Then it will be the KAOS suit!

hahahahahaaha

tbf "can we teach academy students to focus 'Jonin Aura'" sounds like exactly the kind of question nobody would bother asking because the answer should be "no way in hell dipshit" but nobody's actually ever tested it

Priority for sealing after tournament is to focus on chakra detector research yes?

What do we want to research next? Does anybody believe there's merit to @Jello_Raptor 's research project?

Yeah for now.

I imagine it goes something like this (@Inferno Vulpix correct me if I'm wrong).

  • Chakra Detector seals (and good ones at that):~1-2 months
  • LBFs (put off way too long): Who knows
  • Campfire Seal: This should be ""easy""
  • Actual Earth Wall Seal (and lesser variants): ~1-2 months
    • Come on guys, lets save some lives, please?
  • ARS: Yes please.
  • HEAVY STORAGE SEALS. COME ON THIS SHOULDA BEEN DONE A YEAR AGO!!!
  • Mountain seals: Ditto the above.
  • Desalination Seal: A month? A year? Never because we don't need it? No clue.
  • The rest of Kagome's arsenal and whatever shit Jiraiya has mentioned casually ("Sleep" seals, "Wind" seals, etc.) but we've never checked on.
  • Everything in the tower. ALL OF IT.
  • Whatever we think of a week from now that will surely be a good idea.
  • ...the list continues on a few dozen bulletpoints I dont remember
  • GLORIOUS FORCEWALL BULLSHIT
  • dozen more bulletpoints
  • GLORIOUS KILLING INTENT BULLSHIT
  • dozen more bulletpoints
  • BLESSED NECROMANCY

I have a list:
Side Project Order of Operations: Because we have way too many to easily keep track of.
  1. Collaborate with Mist Yakuza to cheat foreigners.
  2. Kabuto Research Proposal
  3. Create (Expand? Codify?) till'n'fill/chakra beast extermination mission fund.
  4. Get other combat seals approved
  5. Get a secretary
Sealing/Research queue:
  1. Extrasensory Seals
  2. Mountain Seals et al. [When Jiraiya is available]
  3. Black Paper Skywalkers (consult Jiraiya)
  4. Movable Force Walls
  5. Larger Storage Seals/Better Macerators
  6. Force Blades
  7. Earth Wall Seals
  8. Water Purifier Seals
  9. Activation Relay Seals
  10. Purifier Variants
I'll keep a link to this handy so I can keep track of what we should be doing next when we have spare time. If anyone has anything that we've been meaning to do but I forgot to list, or if you disagree with the priority I've placed them in, please speak up!
In general you have a lot of the same research projects I've got planned, but in a different order. Most notably, movable force walls are pretty high priority on this list (keep in mind that 2 and 3 are either context-sensitive or just a research-related conversation) and ARS is pretty low (though we may bump that up later, the ordering here isn't strict).

But yeah, extrasensory seals first, then mountain seals and movable force walls depending on whether Jiraiya's available that day or not.

I think the problem with Movable force walls was that Kagome thought it would take about a years worth of tinkering to get done, and theres other stuff that we can't afford to put off a year or so.

We can float the idea to him/Jiraiya as a project I suppose. I don't expect Hazou to be able to massively contribute to that at the moment though. He can probably make a Campfire Seal or something in a few weeks on the other hand, and thats something we want. Etc.

Moveable force walls are important because industrial-scale production is important:

Guns: The equation of geopolitics changes a lot if the balance of genin to civilian goes from "genin flawlessly murders arbitrary numbers of civilians" to "much more easily trained civilian occasionally kills genin" to eventually "civilian team with good armor and tactics regularly defeats one or two genin"
(this relies on seals unfortunately, however . . .)

Seals: Pantographs, as are occasionally floated. Also I do not believe it was ever established whether you could partially print seals with a press and then have sealmasters fill in and infuse the remaining. Even in the likely case where that fails, experimenting with making seals one D-rank step at a time seems worth it.

Airships: However they are made, they change everything even if it takes one ninja to move dozens of people or tonnes of cargo.

Printing Presses: If every village has a press, then that means literacy. And literacy means popular movements.

Food, obviously

CHAOS suit components. (We probably don't want to proliferate S-rank nonsense)

I don't think movable force walls are all that relevant, tbh. We can make most of the use with them that we need for industrial purposes by moving the things they'd be used on instead.

So... A question.

If the Nara call their printing press a printing press publicly... then how the heck hasn't anyone else figured out how to make one? The name kind of gives away their mechanic of action.
Without knowing more physics/chemistry than Hazou does, I am not sure how much can be done unattended without force walls.
There's lots that can be done with a stationary force wall is what I was meaning.
