I know exactly what his reaction to this will be, but we should bring up resurrection techniques to Kagome, sometime.

Personally, I don't even want to bother with that. We already know that one exists, but Hidden Leaf either has completely lost the knowledge or they're keeping it under wraps. Besides, that's a project that is leagues behind our current capability.

Yeah, but if Hazou dies, and we've planted the seed of that thought in Kagome's head, then we might stand a chance at it not being the end for Hazou.

e: Basically, serving as an insurance policy.

I think we could work our way up to resurrection.

The more seals of a certain theme you invent, the easier inventing more of such seals becomes.

We could start by inventing a seal that restores life to a patch of chakra-drained-to-death plant matter, gradually working up to seals that bring back insects, etc.

Depending on how much we level Sealing, it might take years and years, but eventually reinventing Edo Tensei should be well within our grasp.

Of course, if we were to level Sealing a lot, it might take much less than years and years.

A shitty phone pic of quick and dirty sketch of what will eventually (maybe hopefully) be Mari's Wanted poster from way back. Because I liked that joke and can't let go.

What is shoulder. How do I hands. Neck is mystery. Whatever. This is mostly to kick meself in gear.

If you're wondering how the hell this is a Wanted poster when most of her face is covered and the single visible eye is closed, I suggest you direct those questions to the scribe of the Liberator's village. Certainly he felt she was recognizable enough :V

Forgot the sparkles. I knew I was forgetting something. Well, too late now.
E: fixed sparkles.

So yeah.

"Hmm, I'd say they captured all of us perfectly, especially the way my hair's blowing in the wind while my breasts strain against the confines of my overly tight blouse. You know, I don't think I even own a blouse like that. Maybe I should get one.

"What's that, Noburi? Well, next time you want a Wanted poster with fewer warts and a straight nose, maybe you shouldn't spend so much of the mission flirting with the scribe's daughter

Yay, fellow scratch artist. Great work so far.

  • I'm against splitting the party and having Noburi & Keiko alone with the Irie/Hinago team leaders
...
  • Don't ask which areas are held by which clans: it makes us seem like we're not just paranoid ninjas making a bulk purchase. We can get the information ourselves by asking civilians if we need to.
  • Don't sow misinformation. Ignore Keiko's outburst, deflect if it comes up.
Yeah on thinking about it, we should probably heed the ancient wisdom not to split the party, and without a consistent story to misinform them with it's probably better to minimize/deflect. Will modify both of those and pull the question on clan patrols.

E: Updated plan
*grumbles good-naturedly about how other people should do the planning once in a while*

[X] Action Plan: Silver Tongue, Velvet Cloak
Goals:
  1. Prevent anyone on our team from being killed or maimed
  2. Allow Mari to complete her infiltration, and be ready to respond to the results of such
  3. Continue to de-escalate the situation with the Hinago and Irie patrols
Methods:
  1. Noburi and Keiko continue taking point with their good-cop bad-cop routine
  2. Keep toning down the stress level and get operational intel from the ninja
    1. Hazou and Akane work to keep Kagome chill
    2. Ask about etiquette for visiting ninja and whether there is an accepted procedure for getting our hands on the medicine we mentioned
    3. Try to figure out how long they've been following us / whether they know where we're staying
    4. Don't bring up the info Keiko leaked, deflect if possible if they bring it up
  3. Establish a way to contact these patrol leaders or other clan representatives and depart on good footing with both
    1. Try our best to be neutral, but if we need to choose, side with Irie - they're stronger in Sarubetsu and more likely to be Arikada's employer, meaning trouble for us if they get suspicious
    1. Take a circuitous route to our planned meeting point with Mari while swapping henges repeatedly and moving in groups of shifting size. If we spot a tail, leave the town and make our way circuitously to our base or to Mari's secondary extraction point.
    1. Take a circuitous route out of the town to our base or Mari's secondary extraction point, swapping henges repeatedly and moving in groups of shifting size while in the town proper.
  4. Rest in shifts and maintain preparedness for whatever the results of Mari's mission will be
      1. Go over this heist thing - what's being planned and why does Keiko think we're selling things back to their owners..?
      2. Ask Kagome about why people don't go around henged as themselves most of the time to prevent aging/illness.
      3. Talking with Akane.
        1. I hope you know that all of us will support and understand any choice you make.
        2. I would really miss you if you left, but I would be happy knowing that your life is safer and stabler, and that you got to see your old friends again.
      4. Get team feedback on basic options for our plan of attack.
        1. Ambush options on her way into (or out of?) town
            1. Targeted and directed explosives + PMYF-velocity 100kg granite slabs aka "Fist of the Flying Earth God no Jutsu" at any guards, non-explosive weapons barrage at Arikada, plus Syrup Trap and Wind Wall to prevent dodging, ranged attacks boosted by Wind Wall where possible
            1. Fill the area with mist to allow Noburi to start draining and allow Keiko to slip in a paralytic / medicinal payload stealthily. Kill guards as above but use delaying/defensive tactics on Arikada herself and any guards that survive the initial barrage (Syrup Traps, Wind Walls, MEW, and area denial explosives to control movement, clones to obstruct movement and launch distracting attacks from the mist, genjutsu while protected by Panchipaama), and switch to all-out assault as soon as it looks like we don't have a notable advantage
        2. Slip poison/paralytic into her drugs (e.g. by getting Smiling Miki on our side), then capture/kill
        3. Try and drain her while asleep, using e.g. mist or water whip and a barely-open window / door
  1. Refuse gently but firmly to go anywhere non-public with our hosts right now - not as prisoners, not to meet their bosses, not to make deals. To the market, maybe, if they feel like we need an escort there for some reason.
  2. Hazou should stay on alert in case one of the other teammates uses the earthquake command word, and be ready to use it himself if things escalate to that point
  3. Continue looking out for the missing Hinago patrol member, or for others who may try to interfere
  4. If combat breaks out (someone triggers the pending earthquake or a fourth party attacks):
    1. All the explosions
    2. Hazou should focus on defending the team and limiting enemy mobility with MEW, uless enemy melee fighters manage to get close to the team

[X] Action Plan: Silver Tongue, Velvet Cloak

@OliWhail Make sure to add a note along the lines of "We're still paranoid and are considering the possibility that we're being lead into a trap. We take the appropriate precautions (ask about the place to ferret out possible bullshit, roll Deception vs. Deception, Awareness checks...).

Thanks, added both a sub-point to the first part of Methods and a Contingency point to help cover this

Idle thought: what do y'all think the largest nation Jiraiya would be cool with us taking over is, given that he specified not taking over any major ones?

Largest nation, literally speaking, would be Snow Country or Demon Country. Maybe Bear Country could be on that list.

But if you're talking about strategic value, us taking over Hidden Sound would be hilarious in terms of how fucked everything would become.

God that'd be hilarious. An awful idea, but still hilarious.

On that note, taking over one of the overseas continents is a possibility but will put us in pretty direct conflict with Mist, depending on which we go for.

Why is everyone focused on Eastyros? Sea is just as viable given our current knowledge, and much more likely to be tractable to take over. Also it's harder for Mist to fuck with us.

Hm... realistically, Sea does seem our best bet, but at the same time we'll be in diplomacy hell with VHitM and Leaf in 9 months anyway. I doubt we could take over it in that time.

I lowkey want to make our priority anti-sealmaster seals so we can go on a quest to murder acquire other examples of sealcraft. Then we can start specializing in cannibalizing others' work.

Yeah, I'd rather get this over with and generally go experimenting/researching/exploring whirlpool ruins for that period. Then take care of VHitM before finally going to Sea to take over an actual polity.

I would suggest we take over Iron. A small-scale experiment first, to learn how the ropes work, and get our mistakes out of the way.
