Unless I'm much mistaken, Iron Nerve is no more and no less than perfect muscle memory. If you think of any of the movements you have stored in your muscle memory, the quality of that memory is not going to help you execute them when your body doesn't want to.
Well, it also has that thing where it analyses everywhere the body can go, how long it will take, etcetera. So it should probably make conscious overrides safer and easier.
If we ever get the chance then I will be among the first to start posting ideas. But until we get some tangible benefit out of it, please don't make our enemies stronger.
Silly @MadScientist, we are getting a benefit out of it. We know what sort of powers our enemies have, and any methods to counter them, as opposed to fighting blind. It also turns out that chakra sapping and explosives are sort of the best way to fight Kotsuzui members, so there's more than one way the system can be gamed.

So Akane is the Bonfire, Noburi is the Haunted Mist, and Inoue is the Ghost.
I think I'd like to call Keiko 'The Hurricane', with some truly impressive wind jutsu to deploy our best throwable seals, a mastery of the Frozen Skein, and a nearly unknown skillset for the simple reason that anything that gets past her multikilometer homing artillery suddenly has to deal with either a seal bomb or a boss pangolin. Possibly both.
(We should definitely set up a combat protocol where Keiko drops a bomb, reverse summons, and returns after it detonates, by the way.)

EDIT: Forgot to mention why I didn't talk about Hazou and Kagome - their fields are so dependent on coming up with good ideas, and then implementing them, that I don't think I could accurately gauge their endgame powers. I do want the Phoenix Seal, though.
Okay FINE this is amazing enough that I have to start working on it. :p

  • Keep toning down the stress level and get operational intel from the ninja both inside and outside the shop
Have we considered using this opportunity to, you know, talk about the incoming seal master one of the groups is getting? Since they're all enemies. Which means they won't allow it to happen. Which will make it easier for us to keep her from managing to get into Rice.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Question. Does Hazou know Sleight of hand? and if not, why the fuck not? He's perfect for it.
Also for dancing, and music. What I'm saying is, Hazou should learn music and dancing for the sake of covers.
The spreadsheet said Hazou got zero EXP.
So, did the author forgot to update again?
Maybe the author should keep a spreadsheet to count exp, because they're just replacing old number with new, and there's no way to know if the authors forgot something.
??
What spreadsheet are you looking at? Hazou's character sheet says that he has 46 unspent XP (cell C3), and a lifetime total of 1253 (cell H3). Furthermore, the revision history says that it was was updated on October 16 at 1:41pm, changing 1240 lifetime total to 1253.
Oh, wait...are you looking at the '0 nature XP' in cell K3? Ignore that; I'm not even sure what it's for. The important ones are C3 (unspent XP) and H3 (lifetime total, from which unspent is automatically calculated).
Also, the way you can tell if it's been updated is by looking at cell J3, 'Most Recent XP Award'. That's always a link to the most recent post that gave XP.
You did only give Noburi 3 XP last update in the Total XP field, and not update his Current XP for the last two updates.
@OliWhail Some thoughts on the plan. Take with a grain of salt.
  • I'm against splitting the party and having Noburi & Keiko alone with the Irie/Hinago team leaders:
    • We don't know if "Yoichi's" is an actual tea shop or a trap; splitting the party would allow our enemies to take down Noburi and Keiko without alerting the rest of the team and leave Hazou's group in a bad position. If we all go together we have a better chance to spot the trap and react accordingly.
    • Hazou's group has to worry about a classic Kagome-panic-attack, or getting noticed by Murano ninja who want to get involved, or any number of unpredictable complicating factors (e.g., Arikada shows up and Kagome flips the fuck out). Noburi & Keiko have to do the same thing, so I think it would be better for us to stay together. There's still the risk of shit going down, but now it's in a position where we are all aware and able to react.
    • Asking the Irie/Hinago groups to send in only 1/2 people (effectively cutting their forces in half as well) might not sit well with them either. They're in quasi-hostile territory (Clan Murano is still enemies of Clans Irie and Hinago) escorting some clearly bad-ass ninjas and would want to stick together even if they won't admit it.
    • Kagome's held up quite nicely thus far. As long as Hazou -insert calming gesture here- Kagome during the discussion I don't think he will blow us up, or screw us over
  • Don't ask which areas are held by which clans: it makes us seem like we're not just paranoid ninjas making a bulk purchase. We can get the information ourselves by asking civilians if we need to.
  • Don't sow misinformation. Ignore Keiko's outburst, deflect if it comes up.
Do we need to write a fake-bio that we can rely on in cases of needing to spit intimidating speeches out (like Keikou's in the most recent update)? Or is the assumption that our talking skills are poor enough that we'll end up saying the truth anyways (or are Deception is too low to risk it)?
I suspect a fake scary background won't let us use thousand yard stare points as a bonus. You can fake being scary or looking like you are not scared, but you can't fake actually not being scared.
So Akane is the Bonfire, Noburi is the Haunted Mist, and Inoue is the Ghost.
Okay FINE this is amazing enough that I have to start working on it. :p
I think my S-Class Hazou would be The Inventor (though with a better title than that, like The Builder). High Sealing, High Technique Hacking, and has mastered every element. Research is his undeniable area of true expertise, and he spends hours every day planning and pushing the limits of what can be done with chakra. He invents custom techniques for his teammates and let's them use it more effectively, including a Hidden Mist with an artificially greater density of water while still being a gas for Noburi, and Akane's Flame Shroud. The one Jutsu he loves and uses most often is still MEW, and the precision and complexity of his walls can turn a primitive village into a fortified castle with irrigation and canals. His Sealing expertise lies in the humble storage seal, and is still working on Ambulance seals that keep a living body in stasis, and Hammerspace seals that can turn a bag into a Bag of Holding. Maybe he still holds the Poor Man moniker, and mimics famous abilities through his seacraft and ninjutsu. He still had his devastating Taijutsu that can outfox the most cunning of foes, but he rarely engages directly anymore. The rest of the group, including Inoue, now fully accept him as their leader, and he has blossomed into that role. He opposes Pein and his Akatsuki at every turn, and seeks every strategy to cut them off.
As for S-Class Kagome, well, what could he be except the Watchman? He is Chief of Security, refusing to let anyone hurt his family and offering dire consequences to anyone who tries. He is an Elite Sealmaster, being much more focused on the field than Hazou, and has finally broken out of his explosives rut. Anywhere he visits becomes safer by an order of magnitude. Like Hazou, he does not customarily engage directly, but equips the rest of the team with insane firepower and utility seals. Socially, he is greatly rehabilitated, actually able to socially engage with his family on an equal footing, and keeping cool under pressure. While he is still constantly on the lookout and plotting escape contingencies, he is now able conceal that fact under a nice face and spring into action the moment before it's too late.
Well, we have a full team now. Sure is great that I get inspiration now, instead of earlier.
So how's this sound for a bloodline (although I know it would be VERY NO just for QM oversight reasons):
Name TBD
The user of this bloodline may level Technique Hacking at 2 x Int rather than 1 x. In addition, they may roll TH in the middle of combat or an otherwise stressful situation to use a technique they just thought up, rolling at their TH level for the technique itself, if successful. This ability may only be used once per scene, and you still do not have the ability to learn the technique in question without research. (e: Faster/easier research maybe?)
Basically, the other half of the Sharingan to Iron Nerve, minus the more OP bit of being able to copy techniques at will, and plus creative oversight.
Somewhere in the world, the Sokkyō Clan has now always existed: unpredictable mad chakra scientists who hunger for creatively-minded young ninja whom nobody would miss.
Well, it also has that thing where it analyses everywhere the body can go, how long it will take, etcetera. So it should probably make conscious overrides safer and easier.
It might analyse what you can do right now, but that doesn't mean it calculates what the action will cost you afterwards. (Also, it's more flavour than mechanics - the original Iron Nerve design doesn't mention it - so I'd be wary of trying to draw on it for direct physical advantage.)
You did only give Noburi 3 XP last update in the Total XP field, and not update his Current XP for the last two updates.
Good point. 3 points was obviously a math error which is now fixed. Thanks for pointing it out.
@Kiba, on re-reading I realize that what you meant is we should have a sheet where we just add a row with the current XP award and it gets summed. That's a great idea, and we should definitely do it. Thanks for the suggestion.
That, and I kept getting confused about where unearned EXP are located when I hadn't read the spreadsheet in a long time.
Kagome has CCTV seals. Definitely. :D
Also, I'm actually okay with this. ...Exceeeept that they're probably on Orochimaru's side. Dangit.
So in my mind there is a wall that along the perimeter has seal script inscribed along it. It is in principle similar in functionally to the trip wire seal(Whoes technical name I can not recall and am to lazy to go searching for at present) but instead projects on the wall the outline of the people on the opposite side of it. If it can be done the seal would be used to measure the ambient level of chakra they are emitting. So someone with a higher reserve of chakra would have a darker shadow or someone under a henge would be noticeably different than someone not using chakra.
I know exactly what his reaction to this will be, but we should bring up resurrection techniques to Kagome, sometime.
